  • *push 4x4* oops

  • @wangsta231 push 4x4?????? cant be done, u need to get out of the car and engage the front locking hubs then choose a 4x4 gear on the transfer case

  • I'm a rover guy, but those things are badass too.

  • Why is it rear drive only? WHY!

  • @phrawgg2 Rear wheel drive only? Huh? The Toyota FJ40 truck isn't a, "full time 4X4" truck. You select 2 wheel OR 4 wheel drive. The dyno is only a 2 wheel drive dyno.

  • @pete401 I'm suprised that some people don't know the difference between full time 4WD and seletable 4WD. Also, I really would like to own an FJ40, but have a question about V8 engine conversions. Are the reason for the conversion due to the need or desire for more power, or the rarity of engine parts for the original engines, or both?

  • @redmr2na A lot of people think the stock steel 4.2 2F motor is more than adequate. And i guess when fresh, they are. But my tired 2F was smokey. I looked at rebuild the 2F, but when compared to the alloy injected 350 5.7 LS1 motor. It was cheap, lighter, not to mention more powerful than the stock 2F. Sure I had to change engine mounts, bowl housing and a few other things. But it's cheaper to run than the 2F. So many more pluses. And the stock drive train handles the extra torque no problem. :)

  • Hmmm my 2F puts down more power than that :-)

  • Not if it's a stock 2F. Hey, my old LS1 motor would blow your old 2f into next week if I had it turbo on it. ;-)

  • Oh no it's not stock but it is a 2F-ETI

  • And it's a bloody awesome setup you got there man. Just looking at your build thread. Wicked stuff!!

  • @pete401 I'm going to look at a FJ40 that is for sale today in my area, my friend tipped me off about it, and I'm hopefully going to strike while the iron is hot, if it's in good enough shape, and the price is right.

  • ummm.. isnt it 4x4?.. the fj40's?

  • For sure. But the FJ40 isn't a full time 4WD system, it's selectable along with high and low ratios.

  • a ss induction air flow sensor will fix ur air flow problem

  • There's no problem. The air flow meter reduces the flow of air though it makes the motor more economical to run. It's been setup for max hp not economy. Now all the tuning is done I'm very happy with the performance.

  • As i said in the other video, sounds great, looks great!.

If you don't mind me asking, how much was the conversion ?

My 2H is only young, but.. i get sick of the lack of power!

    Dan

  • Hi Dan.

The total cost was around $16kNZ. But I'm sure you could get it done a lot cheaper in Aussy. It included power steering, front disc brakes, hand made headers n system, "Marks" bowl housing adapter kits and a few other things.

  • That's quite reasonable, i wouldn't need the power steering, or the front disc brake conversion, although it would be wise to get some bigger brakes!

Something I'll have to look into when I'm finished with the Body on my 60.

    Keep the Vid's Coming :)

    Dan

  • hey pete yr vid es awesome i would like to know what kind of v8 is that how many liters etc i have a chevrolet v8 350 5.0 liters, it is the same that u have? or yr have another one

  • Cheers. It's a 2002 Chevy LS1 5.7L.

  • Not a hell of alot. Only around 260kW or 350hp. It's still at the tuning stage. The stock GM computer has no air meter data up to it. The air meter between the throttle body and air filter was removed for increased airflow. So it's maf less which means it takes a lot more tuning to get it right. I hoping for around 300kW or 400rwhp after some more tuning. I'll have some more video of another run later this year.

  • how much RWHP did it make?
