@glocker68 Yeah, it was awesome! Wanted to go to McCaw Hall so bad, I'm sure that was great! Check out my channel, I have a couple videos of the Microsoft Store performance.
Awesome! I can imagine how amazing that must have been. I was lucky enough to see him do a solo acoustic set last year in Bellevue Washington, pretty damn cool!
@patricktito at the Microsoft store? That must've been incredible! Wish I could've made it to that. Did get to see him and Tim at McCaw Hall in Dec though, and that was amazing.
When Dave and Tim get together, they make magic. I'm glad he and the guys can do solo projects and reunite for incredible group albums. Regaring a post or two, I can tell you that Dave and Boyd never had a falling out.... They have had their disagreements; but they are the two strongest members in the band. Do you remember a bartender looking for a chance in the south? Boyd gave him that chance.........Look what happend
i always like to hear dave unaccompanied.... i guess that's because that was the first time i heard this song was when he played it acoustically in africa i believe... something about that version.. still like the album version just prefer acoustic
curious to how you found out it was due to a car crash that this song was written? All songs have different interpretations....so, how does Grace is gone intrepret to you?
i dont think its written metaphorically... what are u saying that the car and stuff represents something besides a car? the song has meaning and stuff but it is talking about a car crash i think
he was in a car crash (this is a true story), and there was two cars, he was driving one, and someone else was driving the other. he was in the back car, and he wanted his wife in there with him. she said like, no really ill go ahead (so damn lucky, you went on ahead).
a few minutes later, he slid off the road, and the passenger side of the car was hit, right where his wife would have been.
dude there is a hurricane here in south florida....i heard this song and soon after while it was raining i got cut off and i slammed on the brakes...hydroplaining or w/e lol all over the place luckily nothin happened but i can relate to Differentbeing......goosebumps up the get go
Can anyone paint lyrics like Dave? You can really see his love of art through his music... you just close your eyes and visualize the story unfolding. I am haunted by this song every time I hear it.. brilliant.
Dave is still with his band. They got together in the early 90s when dave was reallllly young. He's older in this video so this was way after he formed his band. He's just a soloist and performs by himself alll the time, and sometimes with Tim Reynolds.
@bobthebuilder892001 they did... dave said it himself that the band reached a point where they couldnt stand each other and there was pressure on him as front man to keep everyone together and lead them but he couldnt at the time
NO he said they almost did. He wrote a letter to them all about breaking up but the didn't actually break up. The whole band did an interview. Their response to the letter was "he lost his mind". They worked it out.
Wow, this one's really sweet, even without good old Timmie Reynolds...So freakin glad to have discovered this song - reminds me of my friends everytime I hear it, and how damn lucky I am to have them around. Love to ya all :)

they did kind of break up and dave and boyd tinsley made solo cd's in 2003 so i would guess that is what this is from
heffheff81 3 years ago
Not true. They never broke up. Dave Matthews has been contracted to do two solo albums with RCA. He was fufilling a contract obligation.
I think Boyd just wanted to do something. None of them have broken up and they are still together today.
