@adinaa18 a man is making a documentary on a murder case involving 4 filmmakers doing a documentary on the jersey devil in the new jersey pine barrens. It's totally fake but heavily influenced the Blair witch project which brought the pseudo-documentary horror genre from the underground exploitation scene (Cannibal Holocaust and Horror themed Mondo films) to the mainstream (the shitty Paranormal activity films)

I've just ordered this movie on DVD because it was like £3, and it looked scary in a Blair Witch way (my favourite scary movie of all time!). Is this a good movie, and is it actually frightening?

And without giving the end away and spoiling it, why does everyone seem to hate the ending?

Just saw it myself today for the first time. I wasn't keen on the ending either, but it did shock me.

Without spoiling it for you, I think the reason people seem to hate the ending is because it actually reveals the truth at the end. You say you've seen The Blair Witch Project. Well, that film doesn't give you the truth, so you have to use your imagination. Ths film kind of ruins it by just plainly giving the answers away, and it'd have been better not telling I think.

It wasn't lame, no, in fact, I thought it was a great shocker and twist at the end. I was really suprised at the ending, but the thing is, now I know the truth, it's taken away the mystery of the film. I'm kinda disappointed I know the truth now. But with Blair Witch, I don't know what happened so it makes it much more interesting.

I didn't find this film scary myself but it still was a disturbing, good film. The scariness was taken away by it's documentary theme.

love these kind of films,but it takes alot to impress me,seen this a few years ago and was really freaked by it,i agree the ending was not to good but the rest was done really well. still dont no to this day if any of the story is actually real.eitheir way this film has the desired effect in freakin me out.enjoyed it

Just because they had the same "homemade style" doesn't mean they ripped each other off. Tons of indie films have done it before Cannibal Holocaust even existed.

It's about a filmmaker investigating the brutal murders of 3 web show hosts, supposedly done by a so called psychic who tries to help them find the Jersey Devil in the Pine Barrens. It's like Blair Witch Project, but it's an actual documentary style film with some footage from the actual event.

I believe it was simply a digital video camera. It had to be projected into theaters through satilite because there was no film involved.
