I KNOW they are "Black Metal". They are the evilest(Is that a word!) band I've ever heard and they do it amazingly well! Don't sell yourself short! Thrash 'aint a bad word. Progressive?- definitely! Unfortunately I haven't listened to the rest of the interview at this point. But, the beginning stirred my emotions enough to post this.

Besides, I grew up with the classic Possessed and with Torrao's reformed band in the early Nineties and they formed my understanding of music as it still is now, man! So you cannot feel about as I do. Take it easy and Peter Steele R.I.P.

AndThere is no hatred just sadness and angriness in it. And the few songs Larry did write are neglectable and he also isn't in the band anymore. And the thing about Napalm Death: they never had a real classic unmistakable sound (not to say they aren't godly, got it?) with one main composer. You could talk about Steve Harris from Iron Maiden, Dave Mustaine from Megadeth, the guys from Metallica, Mike from Destruction etc. and in this line also belongs Torrao.

There are two fantastic and special albums of death-thrash metal: Seven Churches and Beyond the Gates (+The eyes of horror EP), both from Possessed.

Just listen to it, no need to dicuss about it. They have character and cult.

And there are two old scool metal albums in my heart: Possesseds Beyond the gates+ the eyes of horror and Vendettas Go and live,...

Every band that reformed had the main composer be it guitarist, bassist or what the hell still in its ranks. This is not the case with Possessed. Just a statement I forgot.

If Jeff just would have written the music before it would be okay too but he never wrote it and so cannot catch the spirit except with his voice and that for my opinion and hearing is too few a consideration to raise a legend through his lyrix alone...take it easy, man!

You are right with the voice but mainly I said all the guys (Torrao, Becerra, Lalonde and Sus) together are TRUE Possessed and everything else has nothing to do with it, Mike Torrao's Possessed too but that doesn't mean about Mike's music. Even what he did with Iconoklast was a jewel, but I agree that the voice wasn't fitting.

To answer a few questions from the comments before Mike Torrao sadly is out of the music scene and does run a gardening firm but still plays guitar at home. His songs from the second era of Possessed are as godly as with the classic and only true line-up Torrao,Lalonde,Becerra and Sus. Here in the early 90's he did vocal duties too.

Mike Sus is lost for music wholly.

WIthout Jeff, Possessed would have been considered just another thrash band. Whether you like it or not, Possessed made such an impact because of the vocals pretty much. That is not to say that the music didn't kick severe fucking ass, but Jeff's vocals are the ones that really made people stand up and notice this as something different. So, uh, no. But I suppose you thought it was total Possessed when Mike made those demos with various band members? Whatever.
