  • WAW! Taking ah closer look at it, he had pretty bad bowed legs, how was he even able to squat and stuff AMAZING !

  • Am not saying Oldfield wasnt good.......from watching videos....Mike Carter is my favourite.........NOW THATS AH BEAST!!!!

  • i dont get why you all talk shit about brian. wanna know the truth? he took steroids, and he was bowlegged to begin with which actually helped him get so low in the ring. in his prime he was a really great athlete. and dont try to put any of this shit past me, i train under him, he told me with his mouth, to my face, all of that

  • most epic shotputter line ever, ''I had a throwgasm'' XD

  • This guy is LEGEND!

  • Great video, great sound. I met Brian and he happens to be a really cool guy! He has been coaching kids for many years and helping them to become champions.

  • did he really throw 80 feet ?!

  • man Brian is a animal.. incredibly impressive athlete.. they dont make them like him anymore..wow.

  • I had a throwgasm!

  • i had the privilege to meet and throw in front of him at the Big C Relays last year in Anchorage, Alaska

  • I would be so scared if i saw him sprinting at me like he was at 0:56

  • Brian is one of the funniest men ive ever met he told this 10 year old italin girl she was from shitaly and that her father was a silverback gorilla haha John Powell Camp good times

  • @emobarney , I wonder if he really wants you to say THAT on YOUTUBE...ask him and if you can walk afterwards tell us

  • He is an awesome human being! Although he seemed more like a god @ times. Anyone with that kind of energy and power, loosing his ability to move, you would think would loose his sense of humor. Not Brian. He gives great tips in his BLOG on how to improve yourself, if you have that burning desire for shotput and he is quite entertaining when he talkes about his adventurous life :)

  • wow

  • He is my family, dont go accusing him of doing steriods unless you have 100% proof.

  • I just met him a couple days ago, i went to his and john powells throwing camp. he is in a wheel chair but dont talk crap on him, hes still one crazy guy and hes pretty cool.

  • I saw this guy yesterday. I was at a throwing camp with him and John Powell.

  • @tallguy921 first of all idiot , if you are going to slander someone you need proof , and he never tested positive for anything ...secondly it is a well known fact by everyone that Brian has always been BOWLEGGED ...his condition became so bad that the was operated on , but the operations did not help him rather they confined him to a wheelchair.

  • @70footer Amen to that. It seemed that the powers that be had it in for Brian. I met him a couple of times- twice at John Powell's Discus / track camp (at S.J.S.U.) in the late 70s, and then at a track meet in 1980. He was always personable guy and funnier-than hell with his stories and jokes. He was also a great all-around athlete. Brian was a fast sprinter and quite athletic as well. It's a shame that there are people out there who want to slander him by writing a bunch of crap. Sad.

  • @70footer He had knee problems from Birth you "MORON". In fact, in the olympics, is was probably one of the FEW drug free lifters. MORON. Say it to his face. Even today, he'd LEVEL you.

  • @70footer yeah he may not have checked positive but you can tell he took steroids, and plus he does camps with john powell you know and Brian Oldfield is a dick... he got arrested for hitting a girl in the face cause she didn't want to throw, and he even admitted to me he took human growth hormone or HGI

  • @68kenton YOU KNOW, you are an asshole and why should anybody believe what you are writing, because you are who??? A little prick that doesn't know what the f... he is talking about !

  • @edlweis i saw him get arrested and takes one to know one but i will admit i can be mean but i was just wanting to say that i saw him i have him on my video camera when he did it so you can just say shit but I know what he told me about taking HGI and seeing him punch an innocent highschool girl Don't Tell me I don't know what i'm talking about you cock jugling thunder kunt

  • @68kenton

  • @70footer its amazing what hard work and genetics can do its do bad people don't understand that he was born gifted, and the fact he busted his ass off.

  • @70footer I went to one of his throwing camps and he said all of the conspiricies about him taking steroids were true and he kinda talked to people to not to do them. Also I know he is bowlegged but if u have seen a recent picture of him his arms are considerably crippled from his use. He can barely lift his arms up. Those are my facts, buddy :)

  • @70footer sure he used, anyone used and uses now. Sport is all about competition of doctors not sportsmens

  • @tallguy921 Secondly your an idiot for even thinking steroids would have caused that he was then guy that didn't stop lifting till he got really old he went past his time witch had a big effect on him and all world record holders in shot put are on roids But it doesnt matter because if all those great men werent they STILL would be the strongest men ever

  • @tallguy921 ur pathetic even on roidz u coudlnt get as far as he did and even tho he took roids Fact i have proof i know the man who wrote the program for him, the reason hes in a wheelchair is because he wont on longer then everyone else throwing and heavy lifting in his 40s it effects u later in life

  • @tallguy921 you cant talk bad of brian, you never threw 70 feet so keep it shut, you dont even know brian.

  • I find the most impressive thing that he is obviously a power athlete but he cauld also run the 100m in 10.7 seconds..... he was a true all round athlete.

  • honestly, that guy looks alot like me

  • My personal best is 43... And i figured that out the smorning it is absolutly awesome what shotput can do for you....

  • He must have had steroids, prove me if i'm wrong

  • @tashtan1 who cares if he did

  • @cypionate011 then its not suppose to be true bcuz obviously its BS

  • He was and still is an incredible man

  • hes so poofy

  • his legs are anreal, i wonder how much was he spuating :O

  • athletic freak of nature, watch him slam dunk the shot put on a 10 foot rim taking only two steps at the basket, unreal.

  • Brian used to smoke alot of marijuana... My track coach now was his coach many years ago, u should hear the stories about this guy.. hilarious haha

  • Must pack the punch of a rhino

  • he is in wheelchair now...

  • i know. its to bad. he is really a shadow of his former self.

  • @multiks2200

no way - I talked to him like two years ago! He used to throw the shot at me as I ran past him on the track at UCLA. He liked my shorts!

  • This man is an inspiration to throwers. I am a college thrower. I only throw like 48 with the 16lb shot but watching this video makes me wanna train hard. Brian Oldfield is amazing

  • lol at 2:36 to 2:41~

  • this guy is a beast!!!

  • I was about 10 years old when I went to the Two Big Men Mountain games in Soquel California and watched Brian Oldfield, at Al Fierbach's house, during shot put warm ups thow about a 77 to 80 foot throw. Al's shot put ring only went up to 70 feet and ended in a cliff. The shot thudded into the cliff about 4 foot high. It as awesome!

  • LOOk put it this way even if brian and all the strong bodybuilders shot putters, discussthrows, and football players were on steriods it wouldnt matter if they all WERE or WERE NOT cuz they would still be strongest people in world

  • Wow.... really impressive.... steroided out freak.

  • wow peeopee ur a fukin pussy this guy was just a monster/ you think thats steroids? People like this guy were just born big hes really the perfect specimen of manly men lol unlike you peepee dick

  • it is a known fact...he used every steroid out there. he admits to it .

  • so did mostly all of his competitors. so it's even steven

  • are coach won't let us throw spin we have to throw glides

  • well the glide is good start for the shot put but your coach should let you expriement with the spin.

  • why

  • he is the best damn shotputter ever i throw the shot about 52 feet and i love it i wish i could throw as far as he does.

  • what grade are you in.

  • im a senior but hopeing to throw in college

  • where?

A kid at my school is going to idaho to throw. Andre levkiv

  • im in ohio where r u at

  • i am in washington i am just above average freshman thrower in shot and disc

  • what r ur personal bests and do u guys throw the hammer

  • no throwuign hammer but my pr is i think 36 9 in standing i can't throw spin a coach says just glide or stand

  • i mean not 36' 9 it is 32 5 in shot had shoulder issues and i could not throw my best and in disc it is about 80ft disc is not my main thing i am a more shot put thrower

  • he ran 2 lol

  • he ran 10 second 100 meter which is really good. thats only couple 10ths of second off the world record in 100 meter

  • brian oldfield was defiently one of the greatest shot putters ever to live. He had 4 decades of been world class shot putter and still holds the record of been 40 year old guy and still throwing 70 feet. thats amazing

  • Great video!

  • he looks like jordan clarke... Another point. If this legend is true and he threw a 16 80 ft I sure hope that he could throw a 12 100 ft. This legend says nothing about age or if it happened or happened in someones dreams

  • He threw the 16 pound shot put 81 feet, but due to being rumored on drugs (not performance enhancing drugs but rather something like a hallucinogen or narcotic), he was banned and that record was deemed fake.

  • life SUXX

  • A legend in his own time!

  • im looking for those sweet retro addidas track tops like he has on anyone know where you can find them?

  • "I had a throw-gasm" hahahahaha, what a comedian. Throwing humor, I love it.

  • He grew up a few blocks from me in Elgin, Ill. He was a big bully. He used to chase me and throw me around (granted I was an obnoxious brat) but I was tough tomboy who weighed about 60 lbs at the time- around 1957

  • he once visited an american throwing camp and went nuts at the coach for not giving the athletes steroids

  • brian was a beast, threw a 80 foot throw out of a discus ring, i saw one of his work out tapes a few years back and he did STANDING bench presses, it was fucking crazy

  • why is it that no one on earth understands hard work anymore? why is it that whenever they see people who are strong or excel at some kind of strength sport everyone immediately comes to the conclusion that they do steroids? Is it because your too much of a bitch to get strong or accomplish anything yourself that you could only reach their level if you did steroids? If you have legal proof that he did steroids I'll believe you but no a moment before.

  • actually dude, oldfield was a huge supporter of steroids, and believed that you just werent being serious about winning if you didnt take them.

  • But Back then you know steroids, were legal, you have to think about that.

  • Banned by the IOC in 1967, actually. Not saying Oldfield sucked or anything, I think the guy is fantastic. But the point some people here dont seem to get is that Oldfield admits to using them himself, and it was cheating as well. He also supplied steroids to athletes, because he (perhaps rightly) believed that they were required to compete.

Today, he is confined to a wheelchair, crippled by arthritis, and is broke.

  • Why is it that nobody bothers to use capital letters at the start of a sentence anymore? Why do people erroneously interchange the verb "do" with the verb "use"? Why do people reach adulthood and still fail to understand that "your" and "you're" are not the same word and carry independent meanings? Why do people stood to profanity when their vocabulary is stunted and they don't have any other words to use?

  • It can't be a legend, he isn't dead yet.

  • even so who wasnt on steroids back then?

  • 70footer u make some darn good videos

  • that vena dude is gonna breake 80 feet too at the rate hes goin im thinkin hes roidin it though never even heard about him last year

  • he took roids but w.e

    hes amazing.

  • he took roids but w.e

    hes amazing.

  • This is by far the most bad ass guy since king leonides

  • Lol, nice comparison.

  • Lol, nice comparison.

  • Its rare to see someone so athletic his size stay with Track & Field, unfortunately a guy like him could be just as successful at Football for instance and make big time money.

    Its nice to see dedication.

  • what the hell was up with :56 he is massive and he was beating the little kid in the sprint

  • Yeah that was like a reli famous race. He took on the UK indoor 60m silver medalist and beat him. It was after that race that the USA rugby team came to talk to him. He turned it down because there was not enough publicity in it... (the USA game that is.

  • explosive legs man. guy squatting 600 or 700 lbs is gonna be able to haul ass....just not for long. haha.

  • he was my high school track coach, maybe the worst coach ever

  • you're the worst liar ever.

  • actually im not lying, he coached track at my high school in 1996. he was pretty bad. he couldnt get out of his chair, he sounded like his larynx was his with a sledgehammer, oh, and he lived with his mom

  • haha He didnt invent the spin. hahaha

  • brian oldfield kicks ass

  • That guy is huge

  • I had a throwgasm!

  • Jizz is crap.

  • hella yeah brian oldfield is defiently the best shot putter ever. i met that guy personal and he is great dude.

  • Oldfield invented the spin for shot... He is the master!

  • this guy has unbelievable leg power... for someone weighting around +280 pounds to be able to run 100 m in 10,5 is surreal... what a legend

  • timmerman is the best glider of all time hands down, but barnes and oldfield were better, at seoul barnes was just coming out of college and timmerman was 4 yrs older

  • Hmm, never really thought of this as an actual sport, but thinking about, that's really hard to do. I would think that would be really bad for your joints and elbow/shoulder.

  • BRIAN OLDFIELD IS THE GOOD THROWER

  • barnes ,,old field,,,eh????? the greatest was timmermann..no one could and can ever do what he did on his lst throw at the seoul olympics,, a glider on top of that.. think people whos the greatest?? TIMMERMANN,,,forget the sprints,,,forget the jumps,,he being a glider threw better than barnes and oldfield,,who cares about the warm up throws???in the meet timmermann nailed barnes and would surely nail oldfield too,,

  • what about world record?

  • what about world record eh,, timmermann threw the most number of puts over 22 meters ,, what about that ,, and barnes threw only 4 cms further than timmermann,,

  • yeah, only 4 cm over, i guess that mean he threw the world record, meaning it's the best throw ever, who cares about the average? it's the peak performance that is remembered. I didn't even knew Timmerman before you mentionned it (ok, i didn't know oldfield either, as i'm no shotter)

  • i agree wwith you

  • OLDFIELD was the greatest! I saw him do 77' in warmups at a pro track meet in SLC in the 70s. It didn't count, but I was the longest throw I ever saw. He was superb!

  • nice im 12 im in high school (secondary school where i live in britain and im doing shotput for my school against other kids in london

  • "i had a throwgasm" haha classic

  • COOL!!! xD

  • it is true that Oldfield did throw a high school (12lb) shot over 100 feet , I was there at Stanford Univ. ,as were a few others , he was not however in high school when he did it , I think he was probably about 32 years old at the time. In any case it was a monsterous throw , it took off like a bird and flew over the log at 70 feet , over a ditch and hit the other side at the edge of the parking lot!!!

  • theres no fucking way he threw 100 feet in high school there is no proof plus nobody has thrown over 90 maybe even 80 so bullshit

  • high school shot put record is 81 feet 3½ inches set by Michael Carter, while he was in high school.

  • 81 feet that is freakin insane

  • my personal best is 37 which i did this afternoon

  • @goatherder92 try 32 feet

  • @goatherder92 Javaline?

  • i heard (a rumor) that the only reason that throw didnt go further because the shot actualy hit a wall at the meet in austin.

  • I smoked cigarettes with him between our throws during competition in the mid-sixties. The officials and coaches were pulling out their hair. He hadn't begun weights at that point.

  • I threw shot in college and competed in many meets with him. He is one hell of an athlete. He threw the 1st 75' throw in El Paso, Tx @ Bowie High School. I personally saw him foul a 76 footer in Wichita, KS in 1980.

  • most were doing the stuff in the 80's.. Regardless of what he was on, Brian Oldfield will be one of the most decorated all around athletes our nation has ever seen... He made people laugh whether you liked him or hated him, and there is omethign to be said for that... The legend that is Brian Oldfield!!!

  • so we are hosting a meet and guess who was their, BRIAN OLDFIELD, he was in a wheel chair watching

he is a assistant coach for LAKE PARK, they only have 3 throwers on their team, 2 freshman and they both throw around 47-48feet, 3rd thrower is a sophomore named Dan Block, he threw a 61 something during warm ups and i forgot what his discus, he won are meet for varsity, he won state for discus in Illinois

  • One of the ABSOLUTE Great Ones!

  • too bad he was roided out of his mind, he can barely walk today.

  • do u noe he ran 100 meter in 10.3 and jumped 6'6" thats insane

  • good question, how do you do that? my beleif is that brian got all of his injuries from arthritis and throwing the shot. i havent actually seen excactly the reasons but i dont think that oldfield did take steroids.

  • Dumkopf. He was spinning in a circle that was painted and slipped and landed and the injury of tearing his bicep happened that day. So how do you tear a bicep from steroid use?

  • i think he did but im not really sure but barnes didnt get a chunk of his right bicep removed becuz of steroid abuse

  • most people who watch and study the throwing of the shotput will agree that brian oldfield was the most explosive and powerful thrower ever to have lived. i saw randy barnes and he isnt half as awseom as brian oldfield. just check oldfield out and become a fan. He actually did beat the woman's sprint record holder in a 60 meter sprint, it is even video taped if you want to watch it

  • brian oldfield is truly the greatest shotputter ever to have lived. if you look u any records or data, brian did officially and legaly throw the 16lb shot 75' even in a competition. he was the first man to ever throw 73' and 75' actually. if you check his website it states that the reason it wasnt counted as a real world record was because of his ties with proffesional track and field, and the type of competition he was in. brian was warming up throwing 82'

  • no thats not tru the greatest ever was def Randy Barnes and if he was warming up at 82' which you just made up why wouldnt he throw it in comp.... no1 has told me thee answer to that question yet!!!!

  • he didnt do that because he likes to scratch his throws, he always scratches in practice, if he practiced not scrathing he would have thrown probably that number. this is a great quote when john powell asked brian why he didnt practice staying in the ring so that he could throw that 82' in competition: "ill warm up fouling on a 90' throw so ill throw 82' in the competition." -Brian Oldfield.

  • wow i asked why cant he throw 82' in comp then becuz u just said "ill warm up fouling on a 90' throw so ill throw 82' in the competition." -Brian Oldfield. but he still his farthest throw in comp was 75' even i think n i do throw shot put and Randy Barnes is the best no matter what

  • Brian had a marginal foul throw during a competition in 1978 which was measured out of curiosity at the request of ABC sports. It was 79'11"

  • Shut up! Nobody likes you!

  • Yes, quit thinking, inject needle, then throw am I right? The fact is, any fan of Oldfield, and myself included also knows that he has an instructional video from the 80's where he spends 15 minutes taping and wrapping his body caused by th effects of steroids. In fact, he's missing a big piece of his right bicep from abuse of steroids. I think he was a fantastic thrower with great technique, but he took the easy way out. Randy Barnes is the greatet in my eyes. Check the 96 olympics.

  • barnes go caught too didn't he?

  • LordZuljian is the only one with sense here jeeeeeez

  • i know that world record is recorded in meters but when you convert it its still only 75 feet and i dont believe if you do it in practice it accounts for your pr (ne ways why couldnt he do it at a meet if he could do it at practice and size doesnt meen everything)

  • yep ,he threw a 16lb shot 80 feet ! hit a tree branch hanging over the shot landing area about 75 feet out ...hit the branch about 5-7 feet up in the air ,he did it alot but only in practice ...he could throw any shot , didn't matter the weight ...he'd also throw/steal anyones shot and throw it over 70 feet then give it back to ya, and tell ya, "throwing far is not about strength or studying technique , it is inside you and comes only from throwing, quit thinkin and start throwing"

  • He didn't throw the 12 lb over 100 feet, nor did he throw the 16 80+ or the 20 70 feet. Randy Barnes holds the world record at 75 feet 10 inches. If you noticed in the video he threw the 16 only 69 feet 9 inches. Now you are saying he threw something 4 lbs heavier 1 more foot? I Doubt it highly. I also doubt it was "your friends shot put" he threw. Im also doubting he ran faster then the fastest runner. Stop making up lies people, he was good for his time, but he isn't the best.

  • This VIDEO is AMazing!! I have a Meet tommorow~~ aqnd it just exited me to perform VERY VERY WELL!

  • He was a very good athlete but he didnt throw a 16 lb shot 80 feet the world record is only about 75 feet

  • xlxCRAYOLAxlx, World RECORDS are accounted for in MEETS!! If he does it in PRACTICE he STILL THREW IT!! I believe this stuff!! Do you see how big and how fast this man is!!

  • he is a man!!!

  • the real juggernaut bitch

  • did he die?

  • 100 feet.....its true.....my friends high school shot...I was there !!!! he also threw a 20lb shot 70 feet...we were all very shocked at that one....also the day he came out to watch us throw and got pissed cuz we were all throwing so far...picked up a 16lb shot and threw it 68 feet in FLIP FLOPS , you know sandals....so sorry for the BEAR .

  • Brian once told me he wrestled a bear in his prime, and i beleive it

  • A 4.3 40 would be excellent for an NFL WR or Corner, you'll very rarely see a RB that fast.

He ran a 10.3 100 meter, or atleast thats what he claims. I saw a video where he ran a 10.43 and the announcer called it a "disappointment".

He also high jumped 6'6... but as far as the throwing a 12pound shot 100 feet goes, I don't think so.

  • I don't know how fast his hundred was , I think it was against Evelyn Ashford , whoever she was the best at the time... he apparently did a 4.3 40 yard dash...that would be really good for an NFL running back , let alone for a 285lb shotputter.

  • awesome video, Oldfield is a character. How fast did he run that hundred in? and who was he racing?

  • great video oldfield was a great athlete
