I think old series or new, whatever Doctor is "your" doctor, every fan can agree that Sarah Jane was THE companion, no one will ever be as influential as Sarah Jane Smith, and if Amy was the girl who waited, Sarah Jane was the girl who never stopped waiting
Could anyone tell me when Elisabeth Sladen was born exactly??? Because somewhere I can read February 1st 1948 and somewhere else the date is February 1st 1946. In IMDB and in Wikipedia there is 1946 but in many other places I've read 1948...
What a beautiful video, it makes me cry every time I watch it, you chose the perfect song and the way you edited the footage together, so seamlessly, was just perfect! My favorite clips are the ones where the 4th Doctor extends his arm out an grins and when he takes hold of blind Sarah's face and the cafe clip from School Reunion, the regret on the Tenth Doctor's face is so poignant. Question though, why is it ironic that the song come from The Fantasticks? Was one of them in the musical?
...forgive me...I mean not to be the one of bad news...but the actress that played Sarah Jane smith has passed away...may she rest in peace and find her place...in the blue box with the mad man ....
Major shock, I agree. I am just glad she managed to return to Doctor Who and had her own series for awhile. She truly was one of the best in the companions and will never be forgotten.
Thank you for posting this wonderfully done video! As a fan of Dr. Who from when it was first shown in the States back in the 70's, not only does this bring back so many memories; it is also very poignant for me to realize all the years that have gone by for myself.
This was very pretty and it does really show how much the Doctor really cares about Sarah. The end scene from The Hand of Fear proves it. (Tom wasn't acting in that scene, it was real. He was a little down when Elisabeth left)
pure bliss watching and listening to this cutegallifreyian, my fave doctor and fave companion....have met both of them, luvly people...she is such a stunner...awesome clips, very moving to watch..fantastic..x
Now that is a good question. I think this is at the final part as this is when they are on Mars at this point and going through all these tests and trials.
I hear four singers sing this song. JERRY ED, HARRY & NANA, and this person. I can hardly keep it together. Who is the original singer of this song? Thanks for the post!!!!!!!!!!!
its Roger Whittaker. This is the best Try to remeber version. I wish i sang it like this when i was El Gallo in Fantasticks. I get the song now when he sings it.
A beautiful & very emotive video! The song manages to capture the gentle but exceedingly deep relationship the Dr and Sarah share without turning it into something tawdry! I love the mixture of both #4 & 10 Dr & those lovely clips of the Dr and Sarah just enjoying themselves in amongst their dodging Daleks etc! Sarah will always be my favourite companion - she was loyal, brave, compassionate, intelligent & could stand up to the Dr like no one else (though Tegan did come very close! LOL!) A++++
thanks so much for this wonderful trip back in time. I've always loved Sarah Jane. I started crying half way through the video. It was that beautiful. Oh Doctor where are you? I need you and that lovely blue box of yours to come rescue me.
thanks a lot cuteone. remember original recording, jerry orbach. nice mix with the doc and sarah, and the whistleing is nice silly ones who think it isn't.!!!
Mine too. I have a soft spot for Sarah Jane. Well I have a soft spot for classic Who as well. But along with Romana, both have warm places in my heart.
Didn't like the song :p sorry! But the video was still awesome :D I've not watched much classic Who so things like this are really interesting to me :3 Sarah Jane is ace. 5/5
I usually have a soft spot for this song, and often for Roger Whittaker (one of my dad's faves) but man, the tempo on this was sooo slow, making the clips seem long. Good work on it, but maybe a slightly quicker version would help.
I rather liked the slow tempo. I found another version I had thought about using but it wasn't the compleat and full song, which made me feel frustated as well. And I didn't care for John Barrowman's rendition either. His seemed a bit weak. But thanks for your comment.
I haven't heard Barrowman's yet but suggest you try to get a rendition by Jerry Orbach (yes, the Law and Order guy). He sings it in about half the time that Roger does (b/c none of that infernal whistling).
I am actually not planning to remake this vid though. I am not sure when I'll make another vid, as I am really busy in school at the present time. And I really don't have much time to make vids. I started to make another unrelated to this one, and had to put it down because I ended up getting busy with all my classes. I sort of like the whistleing, but then again that's my opinon.
He did know it. the reason he left her on Earth was because he new she could spend the rest of her life with him but he couldnt spend the rest of his life with her.
When you showed the outdoors it has this "mother nature" feeling that time has gone by (from Tom Baker to the present Doctor). You did a great job with the background song that fits well with the video.
Never really gave it that much thought about the nature scenes. But felt over all, that it was a video about 'memory' between The Doctor and Sarah Jane.

Fantastic is the catch phrase of the Ninth Doctor... this was why I thought it slightly ironic in some small sense.

Beautiful woman Elisabeth Sladen but eems to have a distinct lack-of charisma or personaity in real life. Still she had a sexy bum.
