  • What exactly is the point of this video? You'd think that livestrong would want to make a decent video. Bad positioning, inappropriate personnel, and hell some of the guys are wearing running shoes and basketball shorts. They don't even explain the purpose of a scrum.

  • for all you people putting down rugby ... unless you play dont critize them becouse these guys are tougher than any of you.. i would love to you see get out there and get hit with nothing on

  • so basically finger your friends and cuddle.

  • Shocking

  • That was not a scrum, that was just some overweight guys trying to be props and hookers.

Plus they didnt even move the machine and their body position was just terrible and thats one way to brake your bones in a scrum.

  • @ridoryan What? When do people 'brake' bones in a scrum, let alone actually break them?

  • @ak47popper my coach was in the under 18's for England. prop. unfortunately they were versing a retarded team, and the onside prop was trying to be an offside prop. with that case ending up destroying he life dream by a simple snap to the neck. he's lucky he's still alive, let alone walking or moving in general!

  • lol'd at how fat the openside was :D

  • come on stop abusing these guys i mean there a foundation ok if the video wasn't that good but who cares you couln't make twice as much money as them.

  • wtf?

these dude can even get a pop -_-

  • Ive Seen Bigger Kids In Sand Boxes Then These Guys.

  • ya this video is pathetic lol, im pretty sure my highschool junior team would dumby this guys in a scrum haha

  • why is everyone fat in that video?

  • the lineout doesnt determine why the tall people are in the second row in the scrum.

  • @IronMaiden3223 Do U Even Know What A Lineout Is, The Tall People (Locks) Are Lifted Up, As They Catch The Ball (While Being Lifted), Thats Why The Are Good In The Lineouts, I Play Rugby In Canada For High School And I'm A Lock, But Now Our 8 Man Got A Concussion And Lost Memory (So He Is Out Of The Season Till He Gets His Memory Back), So Now I'm The 8 Man (Witch Is The Guy In The Back Row Of The Scrum, And I Like It There Instead Of The Lock) And I'm Also The Team Capt.

  • that blind side is fat.

  • I play flag rugby!

  • Basketball shorts? Come on man!

  • i didn't learn ANYTHING!!!!

  • Do not play anything and I'm playing better this SHIT

  • é muito bonito mas a nossa equipa tem mais força e vosses sao maricas

  • I'm no expert but don't you need boots for rugby

  • If that No.1 propped against me I'd 1 of 2 things:

1)Roll my shoulder so he kissed the earth

2)Bore in and smash the hooker, his body position wouldn't be able to stop me!

You can go in at an angle from loose head, the aim being to lift the tight head out the scrum, but, as people have pointed, his position is awful, he's too high for it to work and any half decent tight head would snap him in half!

  • Fuuuuuudging hell... welcome to back problems in the future lads...

  • lol worst scrum technique in the world. if they played in nz theyd get smashed. coach is a kiwi he should know better haha

  • 1st. 18 should be 3.

Tall guys are better for props to hold the hooker up.

and no. no it's not after a tackle. yikes.

  • no.8's body position is all wrong

  • Winger is THE BEST!!!!!!

  • I love bein a flanker

  • i love tighthead prop

  • Bloody hell even i would have that loose head for breakfast . Shocking angles .

  • is there a video on how to lock and form in a scrum? that really didnt explain how to form it.

  • Slow engagement, I think.

  • how can u put that fatty has a flanker? he should be on the 1st line

  • wtf how can he say anyone can play in the front row ,the front rows are normally the biggest stockiest guys on the team

  • body positions are shocking, especially the locks and some of the guys aren't even wearing boots!

  • They should rename to How to hurt yourself when scrumaging in Rugby...

  • Wtf why is there a rugby tutorial in the States?

  • @blacknightro1 Because we play it here too, and we LOVE it!

  • @BRINKYDINK16 Yeah, I'm from NY. Just seems like the tutorial should either be done by a rubgy nation/at least provide accurate or impressive demonstrations.

  • the info is wrong. the scrum does not occurs after a tackle.

  • hahahaha ironmaden is a doush hahaha

  • @Imprezamaster yes i am

  • @IronMaiden3223 Wow, eloquent reply. I wasn't giving any advise other than listen to your coaches and don't go around calling people dumb - why is that bad advice?

As for positions, I was pointing out that there are no hard and fast rules as long as the front row are identified. Of course you specialise positions - normally you wouldn't put a lock on the wing and vice-versa, the physical attributes are generally very different. But you CAN if you need to (injuries, etc) was the point.

  • @randomorder321 1st i am a back row player and front row player so u can shut the hell up about people only being front row cause u really dont know what ur talking about

the only time u need to worry about putting backs in the scrum is if u have like 16 players

and ur arguin somethin so stupid, no 1 ever said u cant put any player in the scrum, but u think its ur job to inform me that any1 can play that position but i was replying to som1 saying that u put 1-7 in th scrums

    What r ur credentials

  • @IronMaiden3223 of course you cant put a back in the scrum.... im number 11/14 and id get destroyed at 1 or 3....

  • @ aintwack every body does not have to partake in the scrum but you should its awsome!!!!

  • Not everyone takes part in scrums do they? Sorry im nee to rugby :P

  • @AintWeWack only the forwards take part in the scrum... thats numbers 1-7 and no.9

  • @olithegummybear ur dumb its 1-8 and 9 puts the ball in

  • @IronMaiden3223 you'll find that anyone can play in the scrum so long as the players in the front row are marked down as being front row specialists. Convention is that 1 and 3 prop, 2 hooks, 4 and 5 lock, 6 and 7 flank and 8 tries to piss off the backs by breaking off instead of leaving the ball for 9 to shift out to 10.

Back in the olden days some parts of the world had letters, others numbered in reverse. Also, you don't have to have 8 players in the scrum, though you're not gonna win much.

  • @randomorder321 umm well idk ur credentials but I have had coaches that have played proffesionaly and internationally for ireland newzealand and austrailia soo i think ill listen to them and not u.

from the sounds of it u dont have a very good stuctured team and not much of what u said is good rugby advise

  • @IronMaiden3223 Definitely listen to your coaches - seems you have a lot to learn & some great people to get experience from. But don't call others dumb when you don't know much more.

By convention it's 1-8 in the scrum (or replacements) and 9 feeding. But you could feasibly have a strong, tall, fast wing (11 or 14 usually) that you stick into the scrum for set plays as second row and have the lock (4 or 5 usually) out covering, not usual but you make best use of what you have.

  • @IronMaiden3223 yeh i know my mistake

  • terrible scrum body positions are shocking

  • @gwesyn

they'r going to end with a broken neck or back

  • @gwesyn I know, DID YOU SEE THE NUMBER 8?!

  • Comment removed

  • i play as number 8 and i love it :D

  • im a hooker , been playin 4 1 yr nd have currently broke my collar bone in a scrum nd chipped my ankle, i also recently gat on da ulster team 4 under 18 and am pushing 4 ireland/wales, i would advise u work on lineouts more dan scrums:P:P

  • is this a joke?? these guys must be a social team...cos that has to be the worst scrum I've ever seen...

  • would smash a scrum packing like that, esecially the lock with runners on!!!

  • i always wanted to be a hooker - i bet they get paid a lot

  • Congratulation Hamilton Boys High School being Sanix world champions

  • @rahmanrustaie That's wierd o.O

  • @COLEleslieISgreasy lool, i play prop in first half and hooker in second

  • @rahmanrustaie You must have a ginormous team if your hookers are big enough to play prop then!!!!

  • hooker at the begining in hard to understand. But i think all the forward positions ar hard to play.

    I'm hooker xD

  • @ryandav08 I Play That For My Highschool Team And I Play Part Scrum Half When A Ruck Happens

  • @ryandav08 to right

  • @ryandav08 tight-head would be the hardest...

  • @ryandav08 its so fun to play but it is hard

  • I can't wait to start playing! I just hate learning plays in football it's bullshit.

  • @mikey401k

Playing touch rugby is a good starting point: u get used to passing backwards while running forward and a bit of game reading.

  • @mikey401k Good luck. American football seems incredibly complex and fractured, and while I enjoy watching it, I imagine playing it isn't great if you are on an off the pitch all the time. Out of interest, what position are you looking at playing when you start rugby? I used to be a full-back (league and union) which is great if you can run, but I imagine the next 10 replies to this comment will be from pack players who accuse me of shaving my legs and being soft :P

  • @mikey401k

    football is harder!

  • @najib8930 It's not harder, it make require more skill than Rugby in certain areas, but you've got alot more breaks in football and there isn't as much physical contact as in rugby, so overall rugby is actually quite harder from that point of view.

  • @mikey401k you must be kinda dumb lol

  • @sofakingey No I just wanna go out there and crack somebody, not have to check on a receiver and learn my keys.

  • @mikey401k If you wanna go out and crack somebody then maybe you shouldn't be playing Quarterback.

  • scrum half me bois ;)

  • You?

  • Millwall R.F.C

  • Yeah They Promoted me from Wing :D

  • i used to play wing :P now play either scrum half or flanker mainly :P

    who you play for?

  • Yeah Play Right flank in scrum Lovly position

  • flanker is by far the best position in rugby

  • one of your second rows is wearin runners there

  • so is the hooker

  • lol so untrained...

  • i coulndt agree more :L

  • Play Rugby?

  • me? yeah

    you??

  • whats up dawg
