In the 80's, they used to sing this song at FC Twente Enschede, a football club from the Eastern part of The Netherlands. As soon as the leader started to sing, the whole section was jumping and pogoing in section P, PP in the good old Diekman Stadium. Sometimes it was a bit dangerous because in those days they did not had seats in those sections.
This song blows my Classic Rock self away, I like Tony Banks, Jimmy Page-Led Zepp, Hendrix(Merman-Moon T/ T/Tides Gently) The Original I Fought the Law, The musicianship on this song is fantastic, I wont forget the songwriting, I didn`t know the Post-Punks were capable of this kind of musicianship/performance. Greatallthewayaround!!!!!Why does`nt anybody comment on this performance on Yahoo?
Awesome! What a commanding stage presence she has for someone so young. I remember listening to this album over and over as we silk screened tee shirts in a garage in '83. Ahh... the memories.
Great tune, only one I really loved from Bow Wow Wow. I Want Candy was a cover, of course and the rest of the album sounded like filler to me, so this song was a shocker when it was released. It's got a great melody and some unexpected rhythms going on underneath. Almost seemed too complex for them. They split up shortly afterward.
@warholboy Holy shit. Malcom fucking died??? I'm out of the loop. I used to be aware of these things and could recite the birth and death dates of the famous off the top of my head. Now, I'm clueless. I gotta look this up. I bet it was a heart attack...
I cant believe Annabella was only 16 yo when she performed this song. She looks very mature and sounds fantastic. You could see the influence in No Doubt and RHCP. Id marry her in heart beat.
shiver, also from when the tough get going, would be great to see a live version of - love, love, love that song. this song and that are my very favorites of theirs! thank you so very much for posting bow wow wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
no. i meant animal collective and vampire weekend. animal collective isnt bad, but... they could be doing cooler more amazing stuff. they have potential
the human was comparing Bow Wow Wow to these two bands. Next time specify, please. You have four minuses, so there must be ohers confused as well as this video is Bow Wow Wow.
One of the best. Technical as fuck all. Live it appears he used a pick, but I think the studio version of this he used his fingers - kinda like Jaco Pastorius or Percy Jones. Everytime I listen to these records my jaw drops.
She reunited with him in the late 90's up until '06 I believe. I hope I get to see them onstage someday.
YES! The snare is like seasoning unlike the tom-toms, which are the main ingredient. Much better band than the "one hit wonder" tag they have here in the U.S.A.
@runner99 , well, the USA has Bow Wow Wow as a one hit wonder and Justin Beiber as the greatest male singer in history?!?!..LOL!!! You don't like the worldcup and you think the NBA champion is world champion. hahaha. Children i gotta warn you......
many years ago now i had bass lessons off lee and anabella used to record demo`s in the house i lived in, name dropper lol i was only about 25 then and had only just moved to london none of mates believed me. lol

yo, i met this chick 2 yrs ago in NJ at a horror convention, she was ok until i asked her if she was seeing anyone, then she got all offended at me asking that. instead of just saying yes or no... she performed i want candy later on, and didnt sound that great...
What a great live performance by a band that was vastly underrated back in the day. This clip shows just how much talent and uniqueness they had. Modern 'pop' bands can't even come close to this.
My goodness, I don't remember them being this good. I suppose because there was no MTV or videos available.. just the vinyl and some photos to see what they were about.. but this makes me really appreciate what a musically-good band they were. Sad about the guitarist (Matt) passing away so young.
I guess I am a bit naive for my 49 years but I am not getting what you mean by it being Nassssty when she grabs her throat. As if a dominance/submission thing or what? Do think that she was aware of that sort of thing at the young age she is in this video? Just wonderin' :)
One of my all time favorite bands! I listen to their stuff regularly to this day. Great seeing this band live from this era. It seems so hard to find live stuff from them. THANK YOU!!!!
Great musicians. Gorman was a virtuoso on bass and his playing "fit" this unique band. Ashman, what a guitar sound, brings that Americana wild west surf sound. Drums were unique "tribal" Burundi drumming- as they called it at the time.
Like all the best bassists, Gorman plays finger style on some stuff, sometimes utilizing thumb slap & employs a pic on other songs. A true innovator of Bass playing.
WOW ! Didn't think there was any genuine live video of this band from this time. Great band , everyone a STAR. Their would have been NO Flea if not for Lee Gorman.
very true Retro, I actually think Gorman is better then flea in many ways plus I've never seen Mr. Gorman trying to call attention to himself-he just did it
Interesting, please elaborate? I've liked the peppers for about 21 years now and to this day i still don't know much about flea's relation with Gorman. Bow wow wow were one under rated band.
Interestingly, in a Rolling Stone feature on modern-day guitar heroes, RHCP guitarist John Frusciante expressed his great admiration for Matthew Ashman.
I read something about that, too (re Frusciante admiring Matthew Ashman). I believe he even began playing the White Falcon guitar that Matthew used. Such a beauty, that guitar, and in very skilled hands they were! Too bad about the poor boy.. my admiration just grows over the band each day. I never recall them being so damn good!
Loves it. It's hard to find footage from this period of their career (i.e. "When the going gets tough" tour & appearances, but esp. any tour stuff). Thanks for posting!
Their best song ("I want candy" was a cover). A kickass rockabilly guitarist w/ a mohawk. A cute burmese w/ a mohawk--and a tribal sounding rythmn section...totally original and totlly cool !!!
Saw them in 1983.

1983? So Annabelle would have been 17 in this video. Compare that to the pop tarts today, especially the ones masquerading as rockers.
