  • No they don't have crappy internet, They are Jazz Musicians who can't figure out why Kenny G makes so much money and they make none. Don't tell them that Kenny plays a lot of melody, thats some thing 99.9% of the public can relate to.

  • @1948steven Jazz musicians don't decide to play jazz for a living because they think they're going to become popular and make a lot of money. Jazz is far more complex and takes WAY more skill to play than the instrumental pop of Kenny G. Of course, I'm talking about REAL jazz musicians. Kenny G is only called a jazz musician because he plays a saxophone. Period. So when people say Kenny is a better saxophonist than Charlie Parker or Sonny Rollins, yeah I can see why they would get pissed off.

  • Kenny G is great his style is different not like most jazz. This song relaxes everyone jazz love or not. It is just another great work by Kenny G

  • 69 people just don't know good music...what a shame...

  • Now, if you had done a little history, Parker's objective in his recordings with strings was not to put it in fast licks packed with notes, but to play it with a more classical style. He did his recordings with strings because he had always liked classical and was influenced with it during his career, which led him to do his recordings with strings. Also, Kenny's licks are melodically improvised, whereas Charlie's are harmonically improvised, which takes much more skill.

  • What if I wanted to hear Summertime.....do I go to Charlie Parker? I like to hear the song in a professional recording....and Jam doing it live....Parker play's the song with a FEW hard ass licks.....Kenny puts a bunch of licks....in a hard ass song....That's why I know Bill Clinton and Quincy Jones.....I learned to play the songs....and soon you'll see my highly anticipated videos and you can look at you next comments like OOPS!!!

  • @CoyoteXpress Go to Sidney Bechet, that's the real thing!

  • Whoops! It looks like you went to the wrong video! Here. I'll help you out. Try Charlie Parker Summertime

  • esti cel mai bun kenny g

  • THIS TUNE IS SO SEXUAL IT GETS ME ALL SWEATY

  • Is this released on a CD somewhere?

  • @patrick4055 yes classics in the key of g

  • I just want him to come to my house and sax me to sleep tehe ;)

  • Very Sexy!!!! love this man!!!

  • Wow, He's took me with this from the very beginning of the song!

  • best instrumental ever i could get down to this kenny es awesome

  • Kenny G is an exceptionally talented musician, anyone who disagrees is just jealous of his ability.

  • @bogdan4550 I disagree, and I have no interest in play the the lame-ass jive square noodling dreck that he plays. Sure I, and a lot of people think its absurd that he gets way more record sales and attention than the real jazz musicians, but that's not jealousy.

  • BRAVOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • GOSTEI ELE E O KARA ...

  • Nice video :).

  • read comment below first !!!!!. you walk in and sit down at the bar the bar tender stops drying glasses and walks over to a bottle of scotch and pulls out a glass drops to ice cubes in and pours in a half cup of scotch and walks over setting it down on a napkin right in front of you he returns to drying glasses you say nothing you just spark a cigarette and you think deep as you puff and the ember from the

  • @njinjp Shut up. That's corny and immature, going along the lines of rainbow dolphins and white ponies.

  • cigarette lights up your face you sip the scotch you exhale a cold chill runs down your throat and settles in your stomach you take another puff of your cigaret and your stomach begins to warm you

  • picture walking into a bar everyone is quiet a few people in the corner left playing cards at a table smoking under a dim light a women fine and dressed in a black fur coat with red lipstick on and black beautiful hair smoking drinking what looks like brandy in a glass sitting on a napkin next to a ash tray and a bartender facing away from you on the far end on right drying glass with a white dry cloth and a mysterious man sitting directly to the left as you walk in hidden under a shadow

  • every time i listen to this song i think of a cold night where you can see your breath. and picture seeing a man on a dim lit street smoking a cigerate and a homeless guy sleep inan alley a small wind blows your hair and you blow your hands to warm on on into the night on and on and on.them you feel the cold night on your nose

  • you walk down this dim lit street a newspaper blows across the street and you spark a cigerate you take a puff and blow it out slowly and you walk on and on into the night endlessly as you walk you begin to fade away you see yourself slowly becoming transparent but you just walk

  • kenny G is the worst musician who ever lived. He cant play jazz and sucks! innit.

  • @TheGidneybean Obvious troll is obvious....... :D

  • @TheGidneybean hey why don't you stop hating cause you suck at music i dont see any cd's out of you or any one paying lots of money go see you play you lop you failure of society you nobody stop judgeing music what you like and dont like isn't the world standard moron i listen to all forms of jazz and let me tell you his music form is more conservative and tends to be more soothing mellow and even sad you need not listen just to the sounds but what is the message in the sound it is saying smthn

  • @njinjp wow! no need to go tht far. im just saying that I dont particularly like kenny G. In my opinion he cant play jazz very well. :)

  • @njinjp and thts a bit mean saying my music sucks. :(

  • @njinjp also, having a cd out and people paying to see u doesnt mean your any good.

  • @njinjp his music form, whatever you call it, is not jazz. He has a decent sound, and knows what the ignorant masses like in music, that's about it.

  • @hebrewhammershabbat It's definitely not jazz. His music doesn't involve improvisation and it sure as hell doesn't swing. The only reason Kenny G is called a jazz musician is because he plays a saxophone. Period. Playing a saxophone does NOT make you a jazz musician. Obviously he has every right to play what he wants, but when I hear people saying that he's a better saxophonist than Charlie Parker or John Coltrane or Stan Getz, just to name a few, that's just ridiculous.

  • @WindyCityJazz YES! I totally agree with u! thnkyou for that opinion because its the right one!

  • @WindyCityJazz Kenny G may not be as good, but in a commerialised way, he is a legend in his own right. At least his music resonates in a commerialized manner and in a main stream situation. I love the legends you named, but i feel there is no need to put Kenny down just because in terms of skills he is nowhere near them. In terms of mainstream appeal they are nowhere near Kenny. So why the argument? To each his own. No need to put any musician down.

  • @eclecticderby Real jazz musicians aren't concerned with popular appeal. Nobody goes into jazz thinking that they're going to become popular and make a lot of money. Jazz is about individuality - having your own sound and doing your own thing. I'm not putting the guy down, I'm merely saying that his music isn't jazz, which is true, and that unlike the argument that a lot of people are using on here, popularity is not a measure of somebody's skills.

  • i love this tune i think it is so relaxing

  • fuck i just got the chills in the summer man

  • this song touches my very core i love it one of my favorite songs when alot of bad stuff happened in my life id sit on a bench outside my house at night cold and shivering smoking a cigerate looking at the stars deep in thot i love this song. i believe music is like a language every note is a word you just have to know what the artist was trying to tell you every note targets a a memory a emotion a thot this song is my tribulations my hardships my dispair my fear my sadness all in one song

  • @njinjp awsome :D

  • this song touches my very core i love it one of my favorite songs when alot of bad stuff happened in my life id sit on a bench outside my house at night cold and shivering smoking a cigerate looking at the stars deep in thot i love this song. i believe music is like a language every note is a word you just have to know what the artist was trying to tell you every note targets a a memory a emotion a thot this song is my tribulations my hardships my dispair my fear my sadness all in one song

  • @njinjp same here

  • All of his music sounds the same....

  • @Jeffrizel1986 It's about the feel,dude.

  • @Jeffrizel1986 ....maybe because you don't know what is 'Jazz ' and ..what is music?

  • @ahturion this isnt jazz mate!!

  • @TheGidneybean what is it ?

  • I love how smooth and sultry this piece is. It reminds me of film noir, dark, sinister and stylish as hell, any others like this? Preferably with sax

  • I don't like this - sound like a snake charmer's pipe to me. He's just playing the tune with a few grace notes here and there, and chromatic runs. Dave Sanbourn tops him anytime. This is indeed shopping mall stuff.

  • PEPSI to Hatred. and Ice cream for LOVER :)

  • There is no doubt in my mind that Kenny G is a very talented saxophone player. He has really distinguished himself on soprano sax. But I don't consider him to be a jazz musician because he chooses such bland, generic background rhythms-- this piece is a good example--and he restricts his improvisation to "noodling" around the melody for 4 bars or so. I love playing this piece, and it is not difficult to improvise around the chords for an entire verse.

  • pole dance time

  • Simplement excellent raffiné sensuel j'adore

  • The more I turn him down on my speakers, the LOUDER he gets! Amazing sound!

  • porque de sauza .....superb

  • Sam Cooke would be honored to hear this. R.I.P

  • me gusta me gusta me gusta

  • This is just boring, in my opinion. Is his instrument incapable of playing more than one scale? He doesn't really explore this tune at all. Miles, Ella, Bird, so on and so forth all do this song SO much more justice. Read Pat Metheny's critique of Kenny G.

  • @hebrewhammershabbat

I agree no real improvisation, but then again he is a white boi this is how they play Jazz...

  • @ederrick987 What is that supposed to mean? That white people can't play jazz? There are black "smooth jazz" players out there as well, and guys like Stan Getz, Gerry Mulligan, Art Pepper, Phil Woods, and countless others sure as hell could play jazz!

  • @ederrick987 what the hell? He is a "white boy"?? Are you.. a black racist??? That is ridiculous

  • bello

  • tres manifique!!!!awesome!!

  • Magnifique tout simplement :)

  • Kenny Kenny Kenny......first heard him in 1993. My grandma was playing his music and I was 13 at the time. Dude can blow as we African Americans say....still buying his music till this day....Yes this white boy can get down with the best of them and at that blow them away.....give credit when credits due......

  • @kansas024 I agree and I bought this CD 11 years ago. Still one of my favorites. I don't care what everyone else thinks. He does an awesome job covering these classics.

  • well at least he does play pretty much in tune on the saxophone......

  • Splendid for all seasons

  • THUMBS UP IS YOU SEEN THE HIT EM WITH THE KENNY G COMMERCIAL AND STARTED LISTENING TO HIS MUSIC

  • @rockstardj89 Sorry, bro. I get my music other ways than through the boob tube. My God this pop society makes me want to throw up all over my stereo system.

  • Hit 'em with the Kenny G

  • a lot of kenny g hate. i dont think he's the best, but this is a great song. when i first heard it i thought, "no, this cant be kenny g". props to him on this one

  • @TheGoatsMilk Actually I believe it, he uses so much blues scale is amazing how much licks he has.

  • what's wrong with laid back jazz, it makes you sit back and think about life. enjoy the music and stop bitchin, we are all one with music it is the only true unity people share that's why it makes no sense to argue over music! just sit back and listen to it, if you like it, otherwise why not go listen to something you like instead of wasting your time down talking another for what, how, or why they are doing something..

  • Su música es para mi, un canto a los bellos y dulces sentimientos

  • beautiful, sexy, seductive, sweet, lovely, now about kennys music hehehehe Just what i needed to hear today ^_^ thank you

  • this is so chill, i need a jacket

  • Una version impresionanteeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

  • this song makes me cool

  • wowwww so beauty <.#

  • Wow... This song is Very beautiful. I love it! The way Kenny G handels his instrument is just beyond amazing!

  • I'm reading these comments and they are quite interesting. I am a young saxophonist (15) and I aspire to be a professional musician one day. I really like Kenny G. I think he has a great tone in my opinion and good taste, yet everybody seems to hate him. Could somebody enlighten me? I would love to see why people don't like his work. =)

  • @Meeshdongles

it's secret :P but do y really care?

    great song :)

  • @Meeshdongles your in the same postion as me. let me tell you from experiance and exploring other styles that kenny G's way of playing is not even close to the sense of style that John Coltrane,Charlie Parker, and many others established as what is traditional jazz. Kenny G simply evolved the style to meet today's needs, which is a laid back, reinvention of jazz music. Old jazz pursuits need to accept the fact their music is dead and move on. Kenny G redefined jazz weather they like it or not!

  • PD to wiliscool: you can try to practice 4 hr/day, and in 40 years you won't get to where he is now. Trust me it's 8 hr/day, 365 days/year and more than 20 years of hard work to get the technic, and that is worth of respect.

  • He's the best saxphone player ever! End of discussion. I don't know if he is a jazz player, but that doesn't matter for me. As a saxphoner myself I can appreciate how good he is with this instrument. Those who says that everyone can get his technic should try to do the same by himself and will see how hard it is to make those notes in place and in sense.

  • Kenny G has regressed jazz in my opinion, especially its public image. When I mention jazz to my friends, they think of Kenny G's sharp noodling over synth pads and programmed drums playing in an elevator, not the roar of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers, not the Basie Big Band's shout choruses, not Miles Davis' gorgeous, lyrical improvisation. He isn't a bad musician, but he doesn't deserve the recognition he recieves. Guys like Chris Potter, Brian Blade and John Scofield should.

  • @guitarhero343 I don't think Chris Potter is all that....

  • @eet73

but I'd rather listen to Chris Potter than Kenny G

  • @guitarhero343 That is because Kenny''s audience is NOT the seasoned jazz listener. But more of the casual, tame-like kind of person. He has recognition and fame because he has learned to adapt his sound to the likings of the public, which makes him a successful Jazz-like-Pop musician. The others get their deserving recognition and maybe later as years pass they will be more critically recognized, who knows. However, in terns of "deserving" is more of a subjective matter

  • @guitarhero343 i think the most important thing to keep in mind is that jazz does not regress if mainstream cultures does not learn to appreciate it-- jazz is and will never be mainstream, and yes i do not consider kenny g's music jazz. kenny g made his own music and jazz will have its own. as for the the mainstream masses who don't appreciate jazz and misconstrue kenny g with kenny garrett or only know louis armstrong as that black old guy who sang "what a wonderful world," well, f'ck them.

  • @guitarhero343 I definitely agree that Kenny G isn't the same type of jazz. I think he's (smartly) gone about finding his own niche and filling it. Your argument about Kenny G regressing jazz could be applied to many artists in all kinds of genres from country to rock to pop. For elevator music - Kenny does some really good stuff. After all, I've heard MUCH worse than this. It's just not everyone's cup of tea.

  • @guitarhero343 I'm pretty sure I've heard this EXACT comment somewhere else.

  • @guitarhero343 totally agree

  • @guitarhero343

that is so wrong!!! You are talking about three musicians that plays other styles. I am not Kenny G fan but he is great musician.

  • @guitarhero343

I agree. I think Kenny's dope an all, but not to be recognized over Miles Davis. Woah there.

  • @guitarhero343 kenny G works a lot to be the number 1... he plays classic jazz everything...

  • @guitarhero343

Why is there not enough space for Kenny g and the likes of whom you quote

he plays the Sax as well as he can but has not asked anyone to stop listening to the greats

Why does he not deserve the recognition?????

Im not mad about kenny but I love his contribution.. as well as ,many others . I think liking the " Old school" Jazz is fine but does not make Kenny any less worthy

All who dabble into smooth Jazz funk can be similarly accused. They have made Jazz persist IMHO

  • @guitarhero343 I sort of agree with what you're saying, EXCEPT you cannot fault Kenny for the laziness of the masses not delving deeper into Jazz in its purist and original form. Kenny is very good at what he does and if people choose it over Miles, charlie, Billie, etc, so be it, but it's their LOSS.

  • @guitarhero343 like im saying again Kenny g has his own style witch you cant compare it to miles Davis, Dexter Gordon and many more, now when other people think of jazz they probably think of Kenny g but they don't listen to jazz or study it, but Kenny g is a smooth jazz artist, other musicians think that Kenny cant play, well he can, he could probably play like Coltrane if he wonted to but he enjoys playing his own style an being a performer, and hes one of the most riches saxophonist 2

  • baby making song... loving it

  • omg

  • Awesome.

  • Kenny G's music is so soulful and sultry that it just sends me on a natural high.....ahhhhh

  • how do u dislike this..how

  • I love this song.

  • well i dunno why you all ppl argue about Kenny G..ive never heard of him in the past personally but this version is extremely good and thats what matters

  • I didn't even know who Kenny G was...this is classy

  • As a jazz enthusiast, Iam not a really Kenny G fan for what he did... I dont really consider him a good jazz player, but hes famous thats it. I like this song, I dont care for his skills or poor improvisation. This just sounds good, so I give it a go. Even when I dont like him in persona.

  • This guy over dubbed Louis Armstrong!....(what nerve)

He is the Bernie Madoff of jazz...

Most of his fans aren't even avid jazz fans.....

His range is poor mainly playing of pentatonic scales....

People please listen to real Jazz, like UniverisityofMunich said This is the McDonalds of Jazz, low quality, commercialized, low grade, indigestible, and many other horrible things.

Wake up to the reall Jazz and you will be inspired!

  • @rishsn Well put my friend.

  • Nice but Miles Davis version is a classic. For those listeners old enough to care about the soul of musical piece. Like comparing Chaka Khan to what passes for pop singers today.
