I believe this is done on purpose. Originally it used to play the music that plays during the Weather Trivia segment. It looks to just be a 30-second filler.

Wow, that seemed very much like the old Travellers forecast like that.

I had the same thought myself.  It's too short though in this version. The previous version was similar to the end of the '98 LFs where it would show the east half followed by the west half.
