  • LMAO @ the Quasimodo comment. Nice to see you have a good sense of humor. The progress is amazing!

  • My 30 year old friend is in Bangkok today and has her DBS op carried out in 2 days time. I sent her all the vids you posted to show her what results can be achieved. Many thanks for posting these videos, They have given here so much hope.

  • Well done sir! I hope life brings you all you hope for!

  • I am glad everything went well for you.

  • Wow.. was für FOrtschritte .. du bist einfach ein sehr starker Mensch. Klasse

  • absolutely inspirational.... it's so lovely to see how everything turned out for you :) All the best!

  • this is so freakin amazing. it is so neat how this works. it makes me cry tears of joy for the patients taht get a chance to receive this. i went to a seminar at my school about DBS and it is so fascinating how it changes a person's life. really very cool. im happy for you.

  • Wow, this was amazing. Thanks for sharing with us.

Both of you are inspiring, great motivation and persistence.

  • Your progress is truly inspiring. I have worked with some Parkinsonian patients who have similar symptoms (though a very different neuropathology) as you... Music seems to be the most comprehensive (non-invasive) cure... do you know anything about music therapy and dystonia?

Good luck with everything! Most importantly, STAY HAPPY! that is all there is in life.

  • @benjwk

No, I don´t know anything about music therapy. When I was without DBS one week before my surgery they made cranio sacrale physiotherapy with me. This helped a little bit for relaxing muscles.

Abencoado sejam todos vc s e meus sinceros PARABENS !!!

  • Im happy to hear you are having a "normal" life. These videos are amazing and I am glad you had success with your surgery! This is so awesome to me!

  • I am glad to see that you are doing better. :-)

  • I have cervical dystonia, I also had DBS surgery! I am in Canada. It is amazing to see how well it worked for you.

  • Wow what a difference DBS made for you. That is great! I have cervical dystonia and had DBS surgery over a year ago. For me it has not improved my condition too much. I guess we are all different and it won't work this drastically for all.

I live in canada. It is amazing to see how your life has changed. Very cool!!

  • i got to see a DBS operation just a few weeks ago. it was absolutely fascinating. were you awake during the operation? perharps not, i guess. well, i just wanted to let you know that it is absolutely fantastic to see the progress you've made. this is just really great :-)!

  • Congratulations froom mexico (Y)

    Harald

  • youre so amazing dude.. thanx for the inspirational video.. im so proud of you..

  • Dear Harrung,

Thank you so much for sharing your amazing healing journey. You have a beautiful smile and an amazing Spirit. When you say you have an "almost normal life" I have to disagree. You have an EXTRAORDINARY LIFE, because of all you have learned through your experiences. May you be supported in every way. . .

  • You are an amazing Human being, Harrung! A truly inspirational individual! Thank you for sharing this with us all. I'm glad the treatment has been so helpful to you.

    Herzlichen Glückwunsch!!!

  • Congratulations.

  • Thank you so much for sharing your progress! You are an inspiration to us all.

  • Hi there! it is very impressive to see all this! So.. did u even improve more after this last video? And how is your speech? Are you visiting a Speech and Language Therapist atm ?

  • I´m much much better than the videos show. Must know they´re 11 years old. My speech didn´t get better, it changed from almost no sound to a louder, but verybad to understand. No speech therapy is working. But I can live with it.

  • @Harrung i wish you all the best and i hope you are much better now. love from australia

  • I'm glad to see that it's worked so well for you. Do you have a website with more information on your experiences with DBS? I've been researching DBS for 2.5 years for depression and it is VERY difficult to find people sharing personal experiences with DBS. I'd love to read more if you have a website. Thank you for posting your videos!

  • Unfortunatelly I´ve no website. I´m no DBS expert only cause of my surgery. And I do´t write so much about it. I only wanted to make people know what DBS can do. I´m one of many.

  • you are truly an inspiration to us all, what you have achieved is fantastic. good luck and congratulations to you and your team!!

  • WOW!

This is amazing. YOU are amazing! :))

  • Harrung

    you still have dystonia dougiesq

  • Of course I have it still, cause the DBS treatment does´t heal....but it helps to make my life easier. If I´d turn off the stimulators I´d be asame in between 48 hours....

  • Congratulations on your recovery, and good luck in the future

  • Hi...

Now after 11 years I´ve three children on my own. The chance that my children could get the sae ist very minimal. Cause I´m DYT1 negative...without that gen mutataion.

  • An amazing example your life has been! Thanks for sharing this with the world. And congratulations on your family, but may I ask: will your children inherit your affliction? Did it make you hesitate to father children if they may have the same affliction?

  • I am so glad you're much better now! I have to say it's incredible your improvement =D this video may give streght and hope to those peaple who are in a similar situation.. unfortunaly i don't understand what is said in the videos but still i just have to cogratulate you=)

    impossible is nothig!:D

  • Hi there,

it is now better than this pictures here. I can walk almost straight up and the only thing is my voice, but this is one thing I can live with...

I´ll show it soon, cause there was a german TV tean to visit my family and me.

What you saw here is a forced situation. For testing they switched off the batteries, just to see how long it takes until I´m in my old position. After the switche on again it it took a few scond and I was straight up again.

  • That's amazon, And for you to be better in seconds when the batteries where put back on. It's great. And i'm glad to see you've made a new family and all. Good work.

Was will man mehr?

  • You sure had a hard time there. But I am so overwhelmed wih your improvements. I hope that this will inspire people and not lose their hope. Youre the Man!!!!!!

  • You definately like your right shoulder

  • Thanks for uploading your video and congratulations!! May you remain in good shape!

  • Hi Harrung, nice story you have. Amazing to see you progress and comments. That's motivating not only when dealing with physical disorders. Have a nice day!

  • hey...

im going to be having it in the ever lasting battle against my dystonia (as a result of cerebral palsy). I am amazed at your progress. Quick question:

did you have bilateral or unilateral dbs?

    good luck for the future,

    a friend

  • Hi,

    I got bilateral simulation.

Regards and thanks for your interest!

    harrung

  • Hi, I'm french student in physiotherapie: Frist: congratulation, You're so brave! Second, can you tell me what kind of dystonia you have, because I'd like to make a relation whith my course...

    Thanks and merry christmas!

  • cheers to your strength and respect to all the researchers & doctors who make cure possible. and greetings to your family :)

  • ou great greeeeeat

  • Hi Harrung. My 64-year old father has been diagnosed to have PD since 1998. It saddens me to see him suffering everyday. He is on Level 3 now and need to take 5 different drugs 6 times a day. Seeing you on the video give me hope that DBS might be the solution for him. Would you recommend this procedure for anybody looking for a PD solution?

Wishing you great health and prosperity.

  • Hi there,

DBS is not a solution for every kind of PD. I don´t have PD, so I only can say that your dad should visit a very good neurological doctor. DBS is every time the very last solution of treatment.

So best wishes to you and your dad!

  • I'm glad you made a significant improvement, I wonder if you notice more improvements as the months pass by. I will be glad to see your new video and how are you now. I wish you great health.

  • so they put something in your brain ?

  • Yes, they put two wires into my brain which are connected with a "pacemaker". They pacemaker is sending impulses through the wire into a small area of my brain. And the bad signals of my brain will be overtuned.

  • dystonia is painfull and sucks badly...so if u dont have a major mental illness i suggest u dont take anti psychotics...

  • You´re right! I don´t take such medicine, but I´ve to take some for relaxing my muscles. The dystonia is still there, but not as bad as before the surgery. I have my problems, but none which can´t be solved.

  • sorry i didnt notice that u are actually the person in the video. you've acheived such an amazing progress, im so happy for you! 15 years with a such a severe dystonia..i cannot imagine how hard it was. i had facial dystonia for 24 hours as a result of anti psychotics medications and the pain was just driving me crazy. you are a very strong person surviving through all of this. good luck with everything.

  • this is so cool! I mean I wanted to die with my dystonia, but when I saw yours I felt ashamed ofd myself.I just did mye dbs 18 days ago.

  • I lived with it for about 15 yearsthat way you can see nn this video. Sometimes I had some bad days, but I never gave up. There was so much I wanted to know, so there was no time for bad thoughts.

  • why on the 3rd part you look better, is it because you left your medicine?

  • No, the doctors switched off my IPGs for 36 hours. So I fell back into my old dystonia for a while. You can see that it´s getting better when they switched on again!

  • I am so happy for you; you made a remarkable recovery! Thanks for putting this on YouTube. :)

  • congratulations

  • I've had DBS done for Essential Tremor, its truly a godsend. Am so happy you have also had success!! Congratulations!

  • Thanks for sharing! I give lectures on neurological disoders and plan on showing your case to my students. I hope you don't mind :)

I wish you a healthy and prosperous life!

  • this is truly amazing! thank you for sharing this & god bless!
