  • KICK ASS bone solo!!!!

  • We, a small big band in The Hague, do this same tune. Looks and sounds nice, these women.

  • Sure it's good playing, but I think some tunes are just best left to combo arrangements. I hate big band charts of combo tunes personally and I think it takes away from the sound and style, best example: Four. But that's my opinion.

  • A very nice performance! You have a really balanced sounds between each other. :) I hope you enjoyed playing the piece, I love that tune!

  • @thebassiestbassist

i am in the same jazz band as Nintendude7cubed

and i think he is right, and it may be sloppy but she has it right.. you are wacked....

  • Horns are good, saxes are okay, rhythm section is sloppy. Drummer plays a boring second line feel, and its disappointing to see this song played on an electric bass. Bass isnt locking in with the drummer

  • I am currently playing this song (as the bassist) and that is exactly how it is supposed to be played. In fact it is classified as literally a New Orleans second line feeling.

  • @nintendude7cubed

Okay. But that doesnt mean shes not playing it sloppy as fuck

  • no I meant the feeling. There was mention of a "boring" second line feel which isn't the case at all in my opinion, but I was saying how its supposed to be a second line feel. Sorry if me sayin I'm the bassist threw you in that direction. i should also mention the bass player does overshoot some of the grace notes in some parts making it to sound a little sloppy at some parts but overall by what I could hear it wasn't bad.

  • @nintendude7cubed

"wasnt bad" wont get you far in the world of music.

Also, I think that the poster was saying the drummers variations on second are boring and stale. Everyone knows this chart is supposed to be second line. But either the drummer didnt do the research ordoesnt have the chops to play an interesting second IMO

  • @nintendude7cubed

Also, real second line music wouldnt be played on bass anyways. It would be played on tuba :O

  • Very nicely done, this is a tough piece to do it well.

  • What do you mean 'Last Concert'?

    No more BFJO.

Thanks for posting. What would we do without you?

  • A meaning of the "last" is a thing about Matsuda group. The group of BFJO becomes new member every year in September.

The band name of new BFJO(2008-2009) became the Konishi group. Konishi group is doing practice for "Moanin'" and "Four brothrs" now.

  • How do you find these things out?

Are you affiliated with the BFJO?

  • Because the person of the situation of the musical director of BFJO shows WEBSITE of BFJO, there is information there. In addition, the later plans are introduced in the concert.

You will find the web site to search "Big friendly jazz orchestra eonet takasago".

I am a just office worker, but my heart belongs to BFJO.

  • I'm a Trumpet player and I also play the French Horn, so I love music....

    And this is good music...

  • Thank you, sir. I am excited about hearing they are rehearsing Moaning and would you believe it? Four Brothers. I hope the will be as good as the 2003 band. Up Konishi!

  • Hi icschaap,

Thank you for comment of the expectation to the group of Konishi.

I look forward to in the same way, too.

But 5 of 7 students of the Tp&Tb member are the first graders whom a senior high school entered. Time is a little more necessary to become as good as expected.

However, rhythm and the sax are a pleasure because they have stable power.
