The Sunshine policy legitimized a brutal dictatorship. It was a callous insult to the oppressed people of North Korea and a disgrace to Kim Dae Jung's government. "Great tyranny, lay thou thy basis sure- for goodness dare not check thee."
I respect your opinion. However, in accordance with the sunshine policy, Kim Dae Jung and the "Democratic" party essentially chose to ignore, and implicitly forgive, the atrocities committed by Kim Jong Il's regime. Remember the sunshine policy began in the mid 1990s, in the midst of a state-created famine in NK that killed nearly three million people, thats almost 10% of the population. Meanwhile Kim Jong Il was importing cognac and swiss watches...
@TheTollundWoman You don't have to tell me Kim Jong-Il is a bad guy ;-) I am just wondering why Kim Dae Jung has got the Nobel peace prize. But I think you are right!
@TheTollundWoman I see that a lot of times, no good research. Why Obama, was he really the best person in that time to receive this prize? Before the second world war broke out, Adolf Hitler was nominated to get the prize! Haha, can you imagine?
Lee Myun Bak is the strong man Korea needs. Although I have great respect for Kim Dae Jung sunshine politics

@TheTollundWoman I am sorry, I thought that the sunshine policy made a succes, family visits and dialogue between north and south.

Kim Dae Jung's administration also tried to prevent North Korean defectors from speaking out about their experiences in the north.

Kim Dae Jung got the Nobel Peace Prize for the same reason as Henry Kissinger- i.e., no good reason. The Nobel Committee didn't do its research.

The Nobel Committee seems to confuse "peace" with "appeasement".

@TheTollundWoman Maybe they hoped to get some affection with the North, so the North would also listen to the south. But it failed, I know...
