  • Que onda! i follow you and take some tips from you to make my beats in Reason 4, you're great dude, i'm from México. I hope that you can check my songs and give me some feedbacks, it's like electronic dubstep blah blah blah =)

  • I find it weird to draw in the notes. I just play em in and see if it sounds right.Ive just started making music so maybe its just my noobness.

  • i cant preview the SubTractor's beat... what do you click to listen to it?

  • /watch?v=VaTK_kbWf5I

my track on reason.. other tunes on channel too using reason 5 !!!!

pleaaaaseeeeee have a look for me..

    sweet.

  • Must i have keyboard ?

  • @MegaHobs You dont need a keyboard (aka a MIDI thingy) it just makes it easier

  • Why would you use an arpeggiator to make that bassline instead of just writing it out in the piano roll? It would be so much simpler to make, you'd have a better view over your song and you'd have less stuff in your rack.

  • @Ljunghusen why are you searching how to/tutorials if you know it all ?

  • we want more tutorials!! :D

  • at 1:49 how do you just play the sound through the sub tractor?

  • Loops are nice, but I'd like to know how to be able to take a bunch of single hit sounds, distort them, and make a cool beat like that.

    Originality, mayne. It's worth it.

  • @1:40 how do you get the base to play in the subtractor i can`t semm to get it to work? the subtractor keybord dose not work like in your vid

  • @mosschops1982 you need a MIDI Keyboard

  • Preset

  • Most helpful vid I have seen, Thank you for being so indepth.. Some vital steps are skipped over in most tutorials! FAIR PLAY TO YOU!!

  • hi.

How i can get some files to reason 4 ?

  • @CaspeerV RTFM :P

  • Another easier way to record automation parameters is to just make a parameter automation track, push the record button and toggle the parameter on the rack while the recording is running. I find that way a lot faster and easier than drawing in automation with the pencil.

  • where can i order prime loops in the usa

  • Ive heard that song before, did you write it? or your just copying it for the tutorial?

  • @cpb1110 This is not what I am looking for, I know how to use and make a sample...it's a piece of piss even a child can do it. But how do you make a good dubstep drums and bass sounds, I prefer it that way.

Jay Z is very talented, Jay Z, Timberland and Pharrel Williams are my favourite producers.

  • @ACakaANTMAN rock on, Get creative!

  • man .. thank you a lot!!!!!

  • how do I make the Subtractor play after choosing patch?? ;7

  • i appreciate you fam. well done. just got my system up n running and finally installed reason 4 and all my refills. your a big help. PEACE

  • ure a reason noob

    and a complete dubstep noob

  • this guy is a genius.. he explains everything perfectly..

  • hmmm useufull information

  • is a mac the best computer to use reason?!!?

  • hell yeah nice tut. im gonna try out reason 4 for the first time soon and this seems helpful. but what do you mean by hold option, when you say hold option and click?

  • @GodlyVayne its the apple equivalent of the ctrl button

  • @GodlyVayne he's talkin bout the 'option' key on the Mac keyboard

  • hey i am buying reason 4.0 academic soon. could someone please tell me if the dubstep loops come with it? i love girls with fat asses and i love fat beats. please someone tell me how to make fat dubstep beats in reason so i can combine the two together. i want to make a fat beat then play it for a girl with a fat ass so she starts grinding with me to the beat. u guys know what i mean?

  • alot of arguement on this page. i dont think really matters what you use, as long as it sounds good, and original. loops can be manipulated to sound entirely different.

  • What he said. Get off the high horse people and accept that loops and samples are part of modern music. Hell I remember a day when the use of crossfaders was considered cheating for dj's. It's like saying anyone who uses a plagal cadence is trying to copy classical composers.

  • Why would he use the arpeggiator for that bassline? It would be ridiculously easy to just draw in the four notes. Ugh... just because there's new devices doesn't mean you have to use them.

  • Americans cant even begin to comprehend dub step.

  • whered you get the synth from you used. doesn't come with the dubstep pack you mentioned does it?

  • why were the beats made at 70 bpm.. dubstep is 138-142 bpm every time i use one of these loops i have to stretch it to halftime

  • i bought this loop cd from prime loops. Not sure why the beats were made at 70 bpm, dubstep is usually made at 138-142 bpm so every time i want to use one of your beats i need to stretch it to halftime

  • how do i get the subtractor to play the sample i've loaded into it?

i can't see a button, is there a keyboard shortcut?

  • @RowanTallack

To the idiots that voted this guy down. well done. you achieved nothing.

the subtracters a synth, you can't load samples in to it use the nn-19 sampler

  • @RowanTallack yea..me to someone can help ??

  • you stupid or what? haha

  • The subtractor is a synthesizer. It uses subtractive sythesis (hence the name). It does not play samples.

I would advise you to read the reason manual and look online for basic synthesis tuitorials.

  • great job

  • where do u buy this nd how much?

  • any guitar center and nowadays best buy with a music center or online just google propellerheads reason 4

  • hey where can i get those dubstep loops? i dont have any dupstep drum loops?

  • Check out the link on the description...

  • make ur own

  • @SHREDTOKILL Make your own.

  • @SHREDTOKILL make them.

  • using samples or not...making a quality track takes time and effort

  • well done! take a look at my tunz!

  • Does he say his REX file is 70bpm loop? he then drops the whole BPM in reason to 70 bpm? how does he make the bassline fit with the track if it is only playing at 70BPM?!

  • why wouldn't he be able to????

  • He's a robot, that's all you need to know.

  • 70 bpm = 140 bpm at halftime. He probably just wrote the bassline at 70 bpm.

  • Sorry, I meant to say he wrote the bassline at 70 bpm at double time, which would be equivalent to 140 bpm.

  • where can i download reason 4.0 i had now a demo??

  • Sounds good. Check out my dirty dubstep tracks on here. Compa.

  • ive sat here for like an hour following this tutorial to the most minute detail. But my arpegiator refuses to have any effect. It sits there like a bit of debree in my work station. I cant make it arpegiate anything!! SO FRUSTRATING!!

  • flip the rack and make sure its connected to whatever instrument your using, you might have accidently added it to an effect.

Make sure the note and gate cv are connected to the instrument (flip rack) ;]

  • Are you using a cracked version of Reason?

  • maybe you wired it wrong.........press tab and check if everything is connected right

  • nice

  • yeah okay ;]

  • great tut. thanks dude

  • basically all you people are pieces of shit and i'm sure most of you know jack all about "making your own shit"

i guess most of you are in your 13-16's

  • i actually said "make your own stuff."

and i know enough to avoid the use of loops, but i am a lot better as an instrumentalist.

    what do you play?

    do you use reason?

  • How broad? How the fuck would u know?

  • I agree I would like to see how to create the bass sounds myself. Everyone knows how to use loops

  • many bigtime artists use pre-made loops for inspiration

  • yeah

    its a fucking piss takes

its usually Dj's that want to "produce" a track

they sit down with a producer and go do this do that

then slap their name on it

  • waat? so djs dont create their own songs!?, so u mean that for example caspa, cant work with reason 4 or a smiliar prog by his own!? that would suck...

  • most dont sit there and learn a program and make it, hard to believe, but 95% of djs cant, and always have to get someone else in to help them.

most producers are poor djs and most djs are poor producers. most likely because you have to invest so much time in one or the other

  • some djs make there own songs..

a dj is not alway a producer

and a producer is not always a dj

but there are people who are both

  • if your a ducer i reckon its best to dj too!!! its all about promotion!!

  • and talent...

  • Its so annoying when you're looking for tips to come up with things like this that use loops. The whole point of tutorials should be tips on HOW to make them in the first place, not how to sound like everyone else.

  • yes, lets use loops and premade patches. good job.

seriously, make your own stuff, you think Caspa or Loefa use loops?

  • yes, lets use music production software to make music then moan about the use of samples and loops

seriosuly... learn an instrument or make ur own music software? u think mozart used loops and shit?

and yea, caspa does use loops, guarenteed. how would he remix other peoples tracks?

  • Comment removed

  • i don't really understand about 1/2 of your reply. but i will try to respond

first of all, i didn't say anything about samples. sampling is a completely different and more respectable than browsing through a gigantic loop library to find parts for your song.

second, i do play my own instruments, and doing that is something i value more than tinkering on a DAW.

third, a remix is different than an original track. i dont think caspa uses loops for his originals.

and fourth, nice to meet you.

  • i never asked what you did lol.. i was making a sarcastic reply to what you had said.

sampling isnt more respectable, its just the same as using loops. i can appreciate it (if its done well) but at the same time its still someone else's ACTUAL work.

  • yeah i got that. i volunteered it.

and sampling IS more respectful, sampling is repurposing, using loops is doing exactly what someone predestined you to do.

and sampling doesn't have to mean using someone else's work, it can mean anything.

  • sampling is a skill in its own look at dre, jay z, etc etc, it is used as a staple part of hip hop and many other genres, u dont like sampling dont do it, others do and do it well. Sampling is as creative as playing an instrument, its not what you use to create music its how you use it to put your ideas into sound!!!

  • A mixture of loops, samples and your own compostitions...killer combo!

  • @cpb1110 sampling is cool when its obvious that you sampled it. I dont understand using drum loops.. why not just make your own shit?

  • Comment removed

  • i second paulio35's comment indeed

  • EVERYBODY uses loops and samples. whether it's drums/bass or anything else.

  • are you talking about electronic music? even in electronic music there are dozens of artists i listen to that do not use loops.

my point is that if all electronic musicians ever did was recycle loops, music would never go anywhere. do you really want to drown in a pool of gabber loops?

i love this music that is happening right now, but if it never evolved there would be no point.

  • the amen is a loop and that created an entire genre of music. music can progress with loops and samples.. you just need to use it differently

  • nah, that's just wrong

    YOU use loops and samples

one shots (single percussion hits) maybe granted

but who has 5k lying about to buy drums and mics and a sound proofed room

  • dude, dnb isnt really about playin guitar n stuff, its about makin music with a comp

  • music is about creation

not putting putting bits other people's tunes together

  • i cant hear the bass whilst i'm editing it?!

what do you click? like a "run" button for the drum machine..

  • also im clearly missing alot of these refills. what ones are you using here?

  • ive gone into the dr rex drum loop folder and gone onto dub loops and the one you have on this isnt there?

  • safe man dat help alot

  • How did you play that bass?

    Sorry, Im just starting.

Did you play a certain key?

  • nice way 2 do it :D i do basses with malström squares and then changing rates of filters without sync it...

  • great man. please more dubstep tehniques :D

  • We will try and do more soon!

  • r the refills free?
