Que onda! i follow you and take some tips from you to make my beats in Reason 4, you're great dude, i'm from México. I hope that you can check my songs and give me some feedbacks, it's like electronic dubstep blah blah blah =)
Why would you use an arpeggiator to make that bassline instead of just writing it out in the piano roll? It would be so much simpler to make, you'd have a better view over your song and you'd have less stuff in your rack.
Another easier way to record automation parameters is to just make a parameter automation track, push the record button and toggle the parameter on the rack while the recording is running. I find that way a lot faster and easier than drawing in automation with the pencil.
@cpb1110 This is not what I am looking for, I know how to use and make a sample...it's a piece of piss even a child can do it. But how do you make a good dubstep drums and bass sounds, I prefer it that way.
Jay Z is very talented, Jay Z, Timberland and Pharrel Williams are my favourite producers.
hell yeah nice tut. im gonna try out reason 4 for the first time soon and this seems helpful. but what do you mean by hold option, when you say hold option and click?
hey i am buying reason 4.0 academic soon. could someone please tell me if the dubstep loops come with it? i love girls with fat asses and i love fat beats. please someone tell me how to make fat dubstep beats in reason so i can combine the two together. i want to make a fat beat then play it for a girl with a fat ass so she starts grinding with me to the beat. u guys know what i mean?
alot of arguement on this page. i dont think really matters what you use, as long as it sounds good, and original. loops can be manipulated to sound entirely different.
What he said. Get off the high horse people and accept that loops and samples are part of modern music. Hell I remember a day when the use of crossfaders was considered cheating for dj's. It's like saying anyone who uses a plagal cadence is trying to copy classical composers.
Why would he use the arpeggiator for that bassline? It would be ridiculously easy to just draw in the four notes. Ugh... just because there's new devices doesn't mean you have to use them.
i bought this loop cd from prime loops. Not sure why the beats were made at 70 bpm, dubstep is usually made at 138-142 bpm so every time i want to use one of your beats i need to stretch it to halftime
Does he say his REX file is 70bpm loop? he then drops the whole BPM in reason to 70 bpm? how does he make the bassline fit with the track if it is only playing at 70BPM?!
ive sat here for like an hour following this tutorial to the most minute detail. But my arpegiator refuses to have any effect. It sits there like a bit of debree in my work station. I cant make it arpegiate anything!! SO FRUSTRATING!!
waat? so djs dont create their own songs!?, so u mean that for example caspa, cant work with reason 4 or a smiliar prog by his own!? that would suck...
Its so annoying when you're looking for tips to come up with things like this that use loops. The whole point of tutorials should be tips on HOW to make them in the first place, not how to sound like everyone else.
i don't really understand about 1/2 of your reply. but i will try to respond
first of all, i didn't say anything about samples. sampling is a completely different and more respectable than browsing through a gigantic loop library to find parts for your song.
second, i do play my own instruments, and doing that is something i value more than tinkering on a DAW.
third, a remix is different than an original track. i dont think caspa uses loops for his originals.
i never asked what you did lol.. i was making a sarcastic reply to what you had said.
sampling isnt more respectable, its just the same as using loops. i can appreciate it (if its done well) but at the same time its still someone else's ACTUAL work.
sampling is a skill in its own look at dre, jay z, etc etc, it is used as a staple part of hip hop and many other genres, u dont like sampling dont do it, others do and do it well. Sampling is as creative as playing an instrument, its not what you use to create music its how you use it to put your ideas into sound!!!
are you talking about electronic music? even in electronic music there are dozens of artists i listen to that do not use loops.
my point is that if all electronic musicians ever did was recycle loops, music would never go anywhere. do you really want to drown in a pool of gabber loops?
i love this music that is happening right now, but if it never evolved there would be no point.
Que onda! i follow you and take some tips from you to make my beats in Reason 4, you're great dude, i'm from México. I hope that you can check my songs and give me some feedbacks, it's like electronic dubstep blah blah blah =)

The subtractor is a synthesizer. It uses subtractive sythesis (hence the name). It does not play samples.
I would advise you to read the reason manual and look online for basic synthesis tuitorials.

most dont sit there and learn a program and make it, hard to believe, but 95% of djs cant, and always have to get someone else in to help them.
most producers are poor djs and most djs are poor producers. most likely because you have to invest so much time in one or the other
