  • WOW! WHAT A BIG SEAWEED IS THAT? HA HA. DID U BUY IT IN COSTCO?

  • Thank you for your instructions Maangchi, I look forward to making this dish. I just wanted to know if there's a specific kind of seaweed used to make this because I don't have easy access to a Korean store in NYC, but I'm always close to a Chinatown and they have seaweed of their own. I would appreciate your advice, thank you for your time.

  • @tentobot Get "doljaban" at a Korean grocery store.

  • Do need to wash the seaweeds?? i don't think it is sensible right? but is it alright to eat without washing??

  • @sleepzagirl the seaweed is like unflattened seaweed used for sushi. you don't need to wash them as they have been already washed then dried.

  • I made this ahead of time, as I was going to serve it with bibimbap tomorrow, but it was so good, we ate it all tonight with rice. I used 2 packages of toasted seaweed that is used for sushi. (About 40 sheets) It was enough for 2 people.

  • WOW! That seaweed bag is as big as you!!

  • Mangchi, i took your sauce recipe and used with cold noodles for sauce. Soo good ^-^

  • Is it similar to Japanese Furikake?

  • @MKhuuNancy Similiar in the fact that it's both dried seaweed, but in order to make this one edible a substantial amount of liquid is needed. :D

  • looks great :)

  • There are manyyyyyyy kinds of seaweed in Asian store. Do you have its name?

  • @Foxillia my mom buys it and its called pah-reh.

  • Comment removed

  • where did you get that giant bag of seaweed??!!

  • Maangchi could you please do a sesame seaweed salad recipe? I don't think it's korean, because you eat it at japenese sushi restaurants.

    Thanks so much!

  • Maangchii, can you make the side dish with the roasted seaweed? cuz' i have a lot of seaweed here at home. and I really don't know if that's okie.

  • I've never been a fan of dried seaweed, but you make everything look so good! I might give it a try :)

  • NOOOOO!!! i was lucky 7 on the last video :(

  • @yeungg55 you are! lol, What happened is that I found a little mistake at the ending part once I uploaded the video. So I had to upload this video again. : )

  • Thank you for your awesome comments! I added captions to this video: English and Korean! Check out the recipe on my website, too. Someone left a funny comment, "Maangchi, where did you get the dried seaweed pillow?" lol, yes, it looks like a pillow. It's sold at a Korean grocery store.

  • thanks maangchi, you have made so many of my favorite Korean dishes and I am learning so much from you!

  • Whoa, you don't call it seaplant anymore?!

  • good flavour combinations i love seaweed and it tastes great with rice!

  • Wow... that is probably the fastest, easiest side dish I think I've seen you make.

  • 저런 엄청난 김은 어디서 구하셨어요?

  • Maangchi......can I use the roasted seaweed??that usually sold in Korean supermarket????

  • SeaWeed Pillow!

  • yum

  • I don't know if i would like this. I tried dulse and i didn't enjoy the taste.

  • @Xander362636 Then don't try it LOL.

  • @Xander362636 Dulse tastes different from this kind of seaweed. Dulse is more intense in flavour and saltier.

  • Aren't you supposed to wash the seaweed and then drain the water well, then add the sauce? I think it would absorb the sauce better that way...

  • @macherielle Dryer foods(rice, mushrooms...) are typically better at absorbing sauces. Think of a sponge.

  • @Xander362636 Rice? Rice isn't dried. It's just that way from the beginning. LOL Depends on the type of dried food. Dried Shitake mushrooms are usually used after it is soaked in water. I've used seaweed (dried and fresh) and have never used dried ones this way. I always wash it and let it sit for a while then it becomes softer and moister so it can absorb the sauces more easily.

  • thanks maangchi! btw, did the camera man change? I realize the different angles used for this video!

  • wow that looks really delicious, one question: when I buy dried seaweed do I have to look if it is edible without being cooked?

  • @escthepresent when you buy everything packaged its already cooked in a way its industry standard well some products do get passed only if the fda dosent check it like many imported asian goods

  • I just love your personality

  • Looks so GOOD!~ ^^

  • Oh man! I cant wait to make this side dish, thank you so much for showing us Maangchi <3

  • Maangchii you rock

    your vids make me hungry

    *****sigh******

  • I've always wondered that big bag of black stuff in my house was.
