  • I ordered one online Fri came today Mon, $50 Australian, pretty quick delivery , not overly impressed with the grind, looks like I'll need to spend a few mins finishing it up, but apart from that it seems ok ..

  • @oldguy537 Glad you got one, sorry to hear the issues with your grind, hope you get it to how you want it, take care.

  • Whats the shop you got it from mate? if i live close enough im just going to order from the same shop.

  • @vic01able Best thing to do is to have a look on the Husqvarna website, they tell you the retailers nearby. I would recommend finding a shop that stocks them that way you can choose one with the best grain etc.

  • Just got one of these for £26 on Amazon uk... :P

I got the Bahco folding saw for £12 at the same time, free 5 day delivery... :D

Everyone should buy these two bits of kit, even if they're not into bushcraft haha.

  • @DackIsBack Nice one my friend. Two great bits of kit and great prices. Merry Christmas

  • the husqvarna is a middle ground between the wetterlings and GB quality wise but they are priced lower than the Wetterlings at least in Alberta. I picked up the "all around" axe. for $71 i think.

  • @duplessis2006 Nice one mate, sounds like a good deal.

  • Can i get a price?

  • @survivalkiing Depends where you get it, I got it for £25

  • how do you like the 13 inch handle? I'm thinking of getting this hatchet but don't know whether to get the 13 inch or the 20 inch handle. what would you suggest?

  • @MrXtream123 Its nice and compact but the short handle can have its limitations, for me personally I prefer the size and weight of the 13 inch one at present.

  • WOW, I checked out those Granfors Bruks. Those puppys are pricy aren't they.Oh well I didn't really want a Cadillac in the woods anyway,,,,Holy Patudy,,,My Husqvarna got delivered today.Hey Colin, this is a nice little hatchet,,,,Thanks Bud

  • @LiamMitts Hi Bill, yeah those GB axes are expensive, I would like to try one someday. But the Husqvarna is great for the money, glad yours arrived, I hope you have a great time using it, take care my good friend.

  • Hey Colin, After watching your hatchet video I ordered one.I was looking at Wetterlings but they are almost triple the price of Husqvarna here in Canada. Thanks for doing your video on Husqvarna,I forgot they made a great hatchet.Take care,Bill

  • @LiamMitts Hi Bill, thank you my friend, glad you ordered yourself one, they are great hatchets, take care

  • @LiamMitts if you think the Wetterlings are pricy try the Granfors Bruks.. those are the Rolls Royce of axes

  • the same hatchet is fixing to be my next purchase for my kit, plan to get mine through the local chainsaw guy as well.

  • @econnofoot Nice one my friend, hope you get one, its a great hatchet, take care

  • if u want to find some pretty cheap stuff like hatchets look up budk website they have very cheap and alot of stuff to look at.

  • @JDM1016359 Ok buddy, cheers for the tip

  • @ColinOutdoors you are welcome hope you like that site =p

  • here in canada they are quite expensive

  • @MrXtream123 Sorry the hear that my friend, I thing the quality of Husqvarna is very good.

  • @ColinOutdoors The price is not scaring me tho!

  • dude, bad ass accent.

  • @xialong123 Cheers my friend, :-)

  • perfectly pronounced sir :D

  • @bbroegger Thanks my friend :-)

  • That *IS* how you pronounce it... if you're William Wallace! J/K. I love the accent, and I'm picking up one of these hatchets this weekend, thanks for the review!

  • @Photo314159 Haha, thank you my friend, glad you are getting a Husqvarna hatchet, they are great :-)

  • I just got mine and was alittle rusty it was pretty sharp. What would be good to use oil the hatchet and what you use to treat the leather?

  • @nightwalker2830 Nice one my friend, I use 3 in 1 oil for the head (bit) and shoe polish for the sheath :-)

  • Are U Scottish?

  • @macrick Aye, sure am :-)

  • @ColinOutdoors Love the Accent N yr Axe!

    Thanks for invite, Mate!

  • @macrick Thanks for the kind words mate :-)

  • Your videos really sealed the deal for me. I was between this and a Fiskars, but this one won my vote. I found a local Husqvarna dealer. They are ordering one for me and I'm getting it for about $6 bellow what I've seen online and of course NO shipping! My only concern is the sheath. Any suggestions for a belt attach system, or is it too large for that? I've not handled one yet, so I"m not sure if it is even going to work on a belt with the right sheath. Thanks again for the great videos!

  • @pmhauge Thanks my friend, glad you are getting one and at a great price by the sounds of it as well. The sheath I have won't allow belt carry however you can tuck the axe itself down the sheath. Cheers my friend, hope you enjoy your hatchet when it arrives.

  • @jimkressin Cheers buddy :-)

  • I have one like that and love it! Overall length (measuring handle) about 12 9/16". I also have the larger Husqvarna H006sv which is also made in Sweden and is a very nice axe, too.

  • @HarleyDave1956 Nice one my friend, they are great axes, I am very pleased with mine :-)

  • Got mine today, great little hatchet for the price of 40$ in local Husqvarna store for gardening.

The sheath is just the same, little woblly but I plan to do a custom one for the belt or MOLLE.

    Grats on the Husky! ;)

  • @kravanamjesecu Nice one my friend, glad you picked one up. Sounds like a cool project you are thinking of for the sheath

  • The reason i bought the all round axe is because it has a larger shaft and stronger blade. I paid 48 euro for it at a official husqvarna dealer. I splitted firewood with it and it worked great. I chopped down already some big bushes and it that was easy. It needed just a few powerfull blows. This is a superb axe. (BTW i think your right about the standard sheath size. Mine fits perfect and looks just the same as yours)

    Cheers from Belgium

  • @WapenVerzamelaar Thanks my friend, sounds like your all round axe works really well for you. I have been very pleased with mines so far. Thanks for the info on the sheath as well, its good to know. Thank you for taking the time to view and comment my friend, take care.

  • I have the Husqvarna all round axe. I found this information on the internet: Husqvarna axes are handforged of high quality Swedish steel and have a hickory handle. Swedish steel is alloyed with silicon, magnesium and vanadium, which gives a superior tempering of the steel. The result are axes that are both strong and sharp. The shafts are made of American hickory, which brings the toughness and strength you can expect from an axe handle.

  • @WapenVerzamelaar Very nice my friend, I really like this information, thank you for sharing it with me :-)

  • This is more of what ive been looking fo, looks a little more heavy duty, plus if it breaks down in the field you could carve another handle whereas the fiskars would be a bitch to try to improvise a fix for, it could still be done rather easily but i think im going with this style.

  • @blindside357 Yeah this is a great axe and is a bit nicer than the fiskars, I am really pleased I picked one up :-)

  • Colin, Thanks for the review, I picked one of these up today for my Chrismas Present from my wife. Very nice Hatchet for the money Great Deal!! 40.00 US

  • @tdg0101 Thank you my friend, glad you picked one up, hope you don't use it until Christmas :-) take care

  • @RawCombatSweden Thanks Jimmy, great info my friend, very cool that Husqvarna are in your home town, take care

  • Thanks for video mate. Americans can buy these on eBay for $39 new. Pretty amazing deal for a Wetterlings hatchet.

  • @simoncowellscores Cheers my friend, sounds like a great price in the States

  • this is basically a wetterlings. the husqvarna's are made by either wetterlings or hultafors bruks. this particular one is made by wetterlings so therefor it should serve you well for many years to come

  • @thekrazyredhead Thanks for the great info my friend, I am very please with the hatchet so far

  • yeah they are made by wetterlings and they make awesome axes hand forged, they are leaps and bounds better that the hardware store variety, i got the large hunting axe and its amazing its not the prettiest thing in the world but neither am i but it chops wood better than any axe iv'e ever used check out my vid....thanks..ss13

  • @secretsquirrell13 Thanks for the great information my friend, I appreciate your comment

  • good buy. love it !

  • @theheathmould Cheers my friend :-)

  • G,day Colin, The Australian army after a lot of testing chose Husqvana as the contracted supplier of chain saws, so they must be reliable and tough. As for the axe I have a GB small forest axe and a Wettlings backpack axe and I can not see any significant difference in them or your Hasqvana axe. When it come to making and forging steel no one does it like the Swedish. I recently saw an item about GB buying up Wettlings. I do not know if they will be absorbed or left to trade.

    Regards

    jeff

  • @labrat7357 Thanks for the great info Jeff, everyone speaks very highly of the Husqvarna brand and you have confirmed that. Take care

  • nice how much do they go for mate

  • @beargryylsfan12 Thanks mate, I bought mine for £27.50 from a local shop but if you shop around online it can be as little as £20

  • I bought this hatchet about a year ago, shaving sharp when I got it and is a remarkable piece of kit

  • @Bullbunny Nice one my friend, glad it has served you well so far.

  • Yup same company made rifles, damn good rifles in fact. Early ones based on the CRF Mauser 98 action and another line based on a push feed Garl Gustav action. Loved my .30-'06 and .358 Norma Mag I owned way back when.

  • @Glockster42 Very cool, thanks for the great info my friend, Husqvarna sounds like it has a great reputation

  • @Glockster42 358 Norma Mag , were you hunting mack trucks? I'll bet there was more than a little colour in your shoulder the next day. Years ago at a range in Sydney a bloke gave me a couple of shots of a 9.3 x 62 double rifle, that was too much gun for me, I stuck to my little 308 after that, it's a far more civilised calber and one that did not turn your shoulder purple. All the best. Jeff

  • @labrat7357 No, no colour and just moose, elk and occasionally bear. Just a fantastic calibre, but at the time .358 cal bullets just were not up to the velocity and cases were very difficult to come by. Agree with you and the .308, its pretty much my go to gun for everything now. Still have a soft spot for the big boomers though. Cheers

  • I believe that Husqvarna makes/made rifles for a while. Though that might be a different company.

  • @itachi1303 Ah cool, I didn't know that, cheers my friend

  • Hi Colin Just received my Husqvarna Axe It's an Excellent weight and size Ideal for survival.. It has an oiled leather sheath/ Blade Cap. Just need to get a Axe lop for the belt. Many thanks for this Video Colin.

  • @hakkamantis Nice one my friend, yeah it sure is an excellent Axe, glad you are please with your purchase, take care

  • @flashlightfreak9 Thanks Flash, yeah its certainly was quite a bit cheaper that Wetterlings

  • @wildoutdoorskiller4 Lol, thanks my friend, I will practice the pronunciation :-)

  • My last dirt bike was a Husqvarna, (1980?) WR430, great bike, really miss it. Owned some Husky chainsaws, rebranded Chi-Com Poulens but that hatchet looks quality. Good review Colin.

  • @Glockster42 Thank you my friend, sounds like you have had some great experience with the Husky brand

  • Fine tool and add to your kit !! thanks, JC

  • @bcafotw Cheers JC

  • dont forget they make dirt bikes to

  • @H95Shooterv12 Cool, a couple of other guys had mentioned that also. Cheers my friend

  • Have you ever tried Hultafors axes? They are really good!

  • @MrLoiti100 I haven't tried them, heard alot of great things about them, perhaps in the future I will be able to try one

  • Be sure to post some practical application vids of the axe Colin. Cheers!

  • @mizooch70 Will do my friend, looking forward to making that video

  • Nice little hatchet you got there buddy. Looks like a great one.

  • @14DFASniper Cheers my friend, I appreciate your support

  • Husky is a great brand. That looks like a beautiful axe. Sweet.

It should perform well. Thanks for the excellent review.

  • @PatriotPrepper Thanks my friend, thats for the info on Husky, almost everyone has something positive to say about them

  • We have them here in oz as well...but here they make lawnmowers.

Husqvarna ( Husk' varna ) are expensive here...but then again...everything that comes from overseas is......

Look forward to the testing Colin.

    Rob.

  • @RDPproject Cheers Rob, can't wait to test it and film it too. Shame its expensive down in Oz, they are quite reasonable here

  • Great vid as usual mate. I have a Husky chainsaw helmet which has had a lot of use and has proved itself very well. For chainsaw gear I find huksy's stuff second to only maybe Stihl, but they are a great company producing very high quality gear.

Not totally connected to your survival vids, but I thought I'd share my experience with other husky stuff.

  • @Slash28ACR Thanks for sharing your experience of the Husky brand, alot of people rate them very highly and that has given me great encouragement in my choice

  • @graveforest666 Hi my friend, never experience anything paranormal before, but if I do I'll let you know, cheers my friend

  • Hi Colin, I never was an axe-person myself, but your axe looks good. And I know Husqvarna as a companie that made off-road mototbikes as well. Realy good machines. Dont know if they still do that. Have fun with your axe, that looks very easy to cary too my.

  • @leftie4all Thanks my friend, looking forward to using it :-)

  • hey my dad works for husqvarna oh and its pronounced husk/varna

  • @usnavysealsguy Cool, thanks my friend, I will try and get it correct next time :-)

  • Nice vid! I own one too. The word on the street is that Wetterlings makes this axes for Husqvarna.

  • @calatorul78 Nice one my friend, yeah several people have mentioned that, very cool indeed

  • Great review!

  • @investigator76 Cheers my friend

  • I typically don't take a subjective stance at the beauty of tools like axes, but that is a VERY nice looking axe! Good buy, Colin!

  • @boomerang342126 I agree my friend, thank you for your support

  • Very nice looking hatchet. Cannot wait to see it in action. Thanks for posting!

  • @ArmedVegan Thanks my friend, hopefully I can show it in action soon

  • thanks great info great video

  • @recon66661 Thanks my friend, I appreciate your support

  • I used to have on similar that had a polymer handle. It grew legs at TRF a couple years ago while camping. Gave good service.

  • @zhsy00001 Shame about your hatchet my friend, thanks for watching

  • Colin , i have 1 of these too , i bought it for $36 AU , recently i noticed the price went up to $ 46 Au. fantastic tool for the money !!

I also researched online , and I can see 2 diff hatchet designs 1 is more bearded than the other ,, As far as I can tell wetterlings made these under contract for Husqvarna , just as some of the Husqvarna folding saws are rebranded Felco saws. As far as I could tell Hultafors made some of the more recent ( unbearded ? ) axes.

  • @flashdamingo Thanks for the great info my friend, glad you have one too :-)

  • Mostly uses knives myself, but I could use a good hatchet. Thanks for the idea!

  • @Lex41710 Cheers my friend, I have found my Fiskars one to be very useful in the past, hopefully this one will be just as good if not better :-)

  • you can not go wrong with Husqvarna tool's

  • @TheVTHILLBILLY Thanks my friend, I am very please I bought this hatchet

  • Yes, chop something, yes.

  • @bufordcrabtree Lol, yeah should be able to do that very soon :-)

  • @graveforest666 only people who believe in those things experience them mate. spend a few weeks with the aborign's. They'll get ya spooked about the wilderness in no time!

  • Any idea "how" soon your field review might be? As something to look forward too, also apparantly you can make tent pegs with axes/hatchets, might be interesting if you incorporated that into your review :)

  • @MetalTillIDie461 Hopefully soon my friend, thanks for the ideas, take care ;-)

  • Hi Colin, loved your vid on the Husky! Here in BC, Husqvarna is very highly regarded for their chain saws, lawn mowers, leaf blowers, hedge trimmers, that sort of thing, small engine products. I love the product, and I had not known that they make hatchets, or any other hand tool, really. The tool looks very handsome; I have a soft spot in my heart for axes and their little brothers. I think I have 4 right now. I guess there's another topic for a tabletop review, huh? Show this is action!

  • @sabr686 Thank you my friend, yeah Husky seem to have a great reputation and you have enhanced it :-) Looking forward to showing this in action :-)

  • Nice hatchet havent seen them in stores in the states we have husqvarna chainsaws .and other power tools .

I enjoy your videos thanks for sharing.

  • @blacksheep21000 Thank you my friend

  • Awesome video Collin. That is a top notch hatchet. If I were stranded on an island or in the wilderness and I was only given one tool to be stranded with... it would be the hatchet. Thanks for sharing.

  • @CrazyTaileZ Thank you my friend, I am very happy with my choice :-)

  • great video collin but this is way we pronouce it, husk-a-varn-nu, of couse thats in the states... you say it the way you want to say it ! great video.... the brad name is a huge and if the best maker of chainsaws! my dad acctualy owns one great saw and allso a great video

  • @LaneMaddox00 Thanks Lane, thanks for the tip :-) hopefully I can get it pronounced correctly next time.

  • Thank you for the review i had my eye on this myself because of the price of the other two.dont like paying that much for a name.

  • @hamerhead2 Thanks my friend, I am very impressed with it so far

  • @ColinOutdoors good vid keep it up!!!!!!!

  • @ipodtouchguy951 Cheers my friend

  • I love Husqvarna stuff .. its cheaper than Stihl and the same quality. Although nothing beats a STIHL chainsaw

  • @trenttyre Cool, thanks for the info my friend, I am glad there are many people who rate the Husqvarna brand, can't wait to test out my new hatchet

  • Great choice, I have a similar hatchet of the same brand name only not as nice as yours. I agree about the more traditional feel and look of this hatchet. In time the wood handles become unique more than metal tends to get. Cheers.

  • @DirTyOhGee Thanks my friend, glad you have one similar, I am looking forward to using it

  • looks a butte mate nice find! looking forward to the action shot lolol

    stay safe pip

  • @PiPphiltitley Thanks Pip, looking forward to using it and filming too :-)

  • Hey Colin, if you've not seen them, you might like to watch Wranglerstar's videos on axes. "Can you handle an axe" watch?v=xnmhzAoKs-w and "Sharp as an axe" watch?v=xnmhzAoKs-w Very good info in these two videos on caring for your axes. Thanks for the great videos!

  • @MrConradF Yeah I watched them recently, excellent videos, thanks my friend, I really appreciate your support

  • I have had one of these little stunning axes. Is a great axe and bargin.

  • @tankislarge Thanks my friend, yeah its a great price

  • @ColinOutdoors one of the best things about the hatchet is its weight, I bought this of a guy but he had made a sheath that can be worn on the belt.

i will try messaging you a link to some images of it.

  • @tankislarge Sounds very nice, looking forward to seeing the pictures

  • Great looking hatchet and great company....and yes they make a great chainsaw...very tough....good purchase Colin.

  • @bushcraftbartons Thank you very much Mike

  • Thats a good hatchet.

    Great video as always

    Take care Colin

  • @asg00001 Thank you so much my friend

  • You'll find no better fer edged choppin er light camp work! The only problem you'll find is the wieght. This is a very good tool ta have fer outdoor use. Husqvarna you'll find will be hard ta beet! GOD BLESS!

  • @TheDaytonDevil Thanks my friend, I am looking forward to using it :-)

  • dude, nice beefy handle right? I like how it still looks ergonomic too. Eww collin said forum...look out for trolls my friend! w . american tomahawk . com

  • @delta2131 Yeah its really ergonomic, thanks my friend , I appreciate your support

  • @ColinOutdoors no problem

  • Looks like a copy of Gransford Bruks...(spelling??)

  • @Scrap5000 Yeah I think its very similar, not to the same quality levels but still very good

  • @ColinOutdoors Yeah, I didn't notice you wrote about that in the descriptiomn till after I posted that comment, sorry yo

  • @Scrap5000 No problem my friend, thank you so much for your support

  • Husqvarna is a very good company.

  • @jasongiddensviper478 Thanks for the info my friend, they appear to be a top quality brand

  • I have a wetterlings but looked at one of those in a local store and those wore more expensive and had a smaller head , glad to see you found a deal.

  • @medicjimr Thanks Jim, I Like the Wetterlings, they look like great axes also. Over here it seems they are a little more expensive that the Husqvarna.

  • Great video, shame about the wind :(

Any chance of seeing a field test of it?

  • @MetalTillIDie461 Thanks mate, yeah it was windy today, sorry about that.

Yeah hoping to show it out in the field in the near future

  • Good Video Need to buy an Axe.. will look at these thx

  • @hakkamantis Thanks my friend, this is a very impress hatchet, I am pleased with my choice

  • Colin! It's not Hooksvarna it's pronounced Husk-varna. I never knew how to pronounce it till I saw a dirt bike commercial in the states. Yes its the same company that makes chainsaws and such.

  • @Lecherousity Lol, thanks my friend, I'll need to remember that. I didn't realise they made dirt bikes too, very cool.

  • I have never used any of their axe's or hatchet's but have used thier chain saws and weed trimmers alot. If the quality of the axe and hatchet are the same as their power tools I think you are going to be happy about your purchase.

  • @MBlackford100 Thanks my friend, I get the impression they are an excellent company
