wow, what a find this was. Michael was such a kind person it's small wonder he was patient with a student who was nervous and obviously hadn't done interviewing much. He seemed to treat everyone like this, what a sweet guy, I miss him terribly.
ty for the video! Michael did a great interview here. I'm not tryin to rag on the horrible interviewer but really now, watching her interview was like watching paint dry.
I have had radio interviews like that! UGH! He did a very skilled job of giving her enough information to use. It always angered me when this stuff happens! People! DO YOUR JOB AND HAVE YOUR RESEARCH DONE BEFORE YOU DO THE DAMNED INTERVIEW!!! Oh, almost forgot, thanks for posting this. Amazing find!
It's a shame the interviewer was given a promo tape of Watching My Life Go By instead of Aerial Boundaries. It was interesting to hear that Michael didn't naturally write in the new age style and may have been making a conscious decision to adhere to the Winham Hill mould.
The interviewer seemed pretty bored and disinterested throughout the thing, but Hedges' detailed explanations made it a treat to watch. Thanks for sharing, really interesting stuff.
@Tinydude10 I think she is inexperienced and not well prepared. She asks "So I hear you are a pretty good guitar player." and Michael actually takes control of the interview to salvage it and goes into a "ready or not" bio/back story - anything to get the interview rolling. What was he supposed to say "yeah, i'm awesome" or "aw shucks..." :)
Right on, it seems Hedges acknowledges the interviewers weaknesses and just helps the interview along, to a pleasant flow, which to some(like me) is priceless...and without you(type3), i wouldn't have had the pleasure of watching this...
So I hear you're a guitar player?
Great interviewer
