  • SWG is way better in every single aspect beside the "voice active" NPC's in TOR

  • TOR looks like a cartoon to me. The combat is the same style as Star Trek Online. Before some bastard comments that star trek online has a good combat system, I am talking about ground. The ground sucks. Space is the only one worth anything, the space is good to me...

  • @PycasneEesost I agree the space in Star Trek online is good and that the ground on that game sucks. But Tor ground game is not the same as STO. I know this, cause I played it.

  • @Goatdude33 Well yeah, I know they are different. It seems a lot like it to me, with he real time stuff and all... Also the way the way the characters move... Also, is it weird I found it strange that your companion brought a melee enemy close enough to hit you, even though he had a gun?

  • SWTOR looks better.

  • swtor to me is swg with alot ripped out of it

  • i played swg what liked and miss in swtor is the player towns and cantina buffs the player cities allowed players and guilds to stay connected and provided a more intertaining starwars experience to be able to ride your speeder across an endless enviroment through player cities the republic station in swtor is boreing and totally opposite of this fact, even though the world in swtor is better contructed its all quest based once a player finishes the quest they move on wheres the fun in that?

  • @Lok783

Yea, I remember wayyy back when I first started playing Swg, one night myself and a few friends in the cantina took center stage so to speak and started doing an in sync dance... lol... it was so funny, soon a few other people joined in, and the cantina was pretty full... The group was composed of a few humans and a wookie, lol. I just remeber basically laughing my tail off for half an hour strait.. Biggest thing I miss I think is my Vigo gunship... it was just epic times in that

  • SWG looks like shit. EQ1 has better graphics.

What kind of idiot would even post a video like this?

  • Honestly, videos like this only inspire me to put some effort on my time off into making my own Swg vs Swtor video, only problem is, I've never played Tor. I've done a ton of research, and I have a pretty solid grasp of what Tor is, and therefore, I have no desire to spend my hard earned money on it. I might someday just make the video, and deal with the "if you've never played Tor how can you judge it" comments... when I know, Tor is the farthest thing from being comparable to Swg overall.

  • @sornan005 I make money off this video. So I'm doing something right.

  • @Goatdude33 Your video has more dislikes than likes so obviously you're doing something wrong.

Also, so what if you make money off this video? Hitler made money from Mein Kampf.

  • @Goatdude33 ehm, no u dont, cuz i know how youtube works, and u dont have the amount of views to make money from it. so go lie somewhere else please.

  • ofc tor has better gfx. you're comparing a game released in 2011 to a game released in 2003. no shit u nge nubs are going to like tor better, ur brainwashed. uve adapted to wowclones, they have herded u into the kennel. yeah i like tor content but that's because i play tor for the content DERP! we play swg pre cu for the community, the customization, and the profession system. omfg and the combat queue!!!! way ahead of its time. peace out nge failbaits.

  • I dont care what anyone says, no game will ever give me the feeling Star Wars Galaxies Pre CU gave me. Thank god for SWGEmu.

  • SWG is/was the greatest MMO ever made, at least the greatest sci-fi one made (Everquest is pretty damn good). TOR is amazing, don't get me wrong, but it just feels like a Star Wars version of WoW. It's great, but it's nothing special. It has none of what made SWG such a unique game.

I'm hoping the SWGEmu will be finished and working nicely soon. TOR is fun, but it's not gonna cut it for me. I want my MMO back.

  • @Sajun88

I find myself missing it at times too, and for myself, there simply is no replacement at this time, so Mmo gaming is buh by until something comes out, if it ever does, that even comes close to what Swg had in end game content quality and volume. Fortunately, at least the legacy of such a great game is left alover You-tube to view on occassion and enjoy some good memories.

  • @sornan005 I will say this. I originally mentioned how the emu just didn't feel right. Spent a bit more time playing it and although I have no nostalgia for the combat system like some people do, and I honestly don't like it all that much, the team building the game is nevertheless doing a fantastic job.

  • @Sajun88

I'm sure they are, honestly I can't even fathom the epic job involved in even attempting to re-create the galaxy, and for free at that. The ProjectSwg guys are going after the NGE content prior to shutdown, after getting just a 'whiff' of the job involved, it's beyond my imagination. Thing that gets me, Soe holds on to all of this epic volume server based data which is being attempted to be 'replicated'.. yet this data no longer serves Soe any purpose. Why not give it to the public.

  • @sornan005 The is the EMU one can always turn too.

  • I play there games for 3 years man, up and downs. It was awesome, by far one of the best games ever. it was huge there was true size to it , and the city where packed with players and parts role play dance , guild city and wars, it was by far the most complete mmo game ever you really could lose you self in that game lol.

  • The atmospheric flight that Soe allowed before closing Imo really shouldnt have been done. I mean, it's clear the reason it never happened is because of the mass issues that came with it which were not addressed when it was allowed (ships bumping into the ground, no gravity effects, etc). Anyhow, one of the best things I think Swg had that was so awesome was the never ending vast volume of end game content, the addition of the truly awesome space aspects just tipped the scale for me.

  • @sornan005 I loved the Atmo flight.

  • @Goatdude33

I hear ya, I hadn't come back to the game to experience it myself, but I've seen a few 'blooper' videos of multiple luxury yachts facing the ground bumping up and down. I probably would have loved it too, but I'm willing to bet if it wasnt for Swg near closing they wouldn't have done it, or at least they would have waited until the major issues were fixed. Mos Eisly was crowded enough with everyones beasts and vehicles out, add in a few full size yachts in front of the Sp.. XD

  • @sornan005 The Air to Air combat was not so bad.

  • @Goatdude33

Nice, I didn't know they allowed that in the atmospheric flight, I can imagine that would be prett dang cool :D

  • The crazy thing to me is, in some ways it looks like the SWTOR is a step backwards. That fkn crazy, Almost wish i wasn't playing FFXI at the time.

  • @Amatsuhira

Well its not crazy, its true. SWTOR planets are little instanced prison mazes compared to SWG planets like for a big example Corellia.

  • @dAt3q

SWG Planets were big....and empty, desolate, wastelands with generally subpar graphics and the countryside littered with abandoned cities that were ghosttowns. It wasn't all that great rofl.

  • @FleetOfRetribution

Your right :) But i rather have that feeling than claustrophobia. At least in SWG they look a bit like real planets. In TOR they look like deposited/mazed/labyrinth cities.

  • @FleetOfRetribution

subpar graphics, true but ok for the time if you see mmorpgs needs to cut their graphics a lot more then for example FPS games.

  • SWTOR vs SWG, SWG is dead. Yep.

  • @FleetOfRetribution

    the Pre-CU prvt server(s) r running strong i hear.

  • @Amatsuhira

Not really, and "illegal duplications" hardly count as survival.

  • @FleetOfRetribution

indeed, but for some, it's better than the alternative.

  • @Amatsuhira

    Rose tinted glasses.

  • @FleetOfRetribution Nope. SWG offered a better game than anythign else out there for the immersion value. Updated graphics and VO does not help replay. SWG kept fans for 8 years. The people that jumped ship at NGE left to play WoW. Those same players will jump TOR for GW2 just as they left WOW for TOR. SWG was better for the universe created, better music. No imperial march in TOR...

  • @ilovebreakbeats

Except all of what you said is untrue and enjoy your rose colored glasses :D

  • @FleetOfRetribution Tim Dryson has fire in his eyes. There not glasses, but fire. That burns like the hart of the sun.

  • @ilovebreakbeats

Hey honestly I think one of the major things that kept new people coming in from sticking with Swg was the somewhat lengthy and potentially drab/repetitve content during the leveling process. The real irony is, that in retrospect, the Dev's Imo did it right, they focused on the end game, not the leveling. I'd take years of great end game content over fancy level up missions that will only last x months any day. I think alot of people never saw what awaited them after 90.

  • @FleetOfRetribution SWGEMU :)

  • @CillenTV

    :D Too bad it sucks.

  • i played SWG for over 2900 days... thats like 8 years, CBR'dogmeat - Bria. Guild RgB. great game but the CU and NGE fked it... i still play on the EMU to this day... TKA/Fencer/pike... SW TOR is awesome as well... only been playin for a month lvl 31 BH. personaly i prefur SWG tat - mos e. i like the way SWG maps you could roam all over, the SW TOR maps are alittle to constrictive... but they look way better then SWG maps....

  • Two very different games... SWG was great in its own ways.. but TOR has much more involving story line that SWG ever dreamed of.. the combat system does get a bit old after a while but so did running mission terminals over and over to level in SWG

  • graphics are better in swtor but i believe hands down swg had a way more interesting crafting system

  • @Jimmytulips sadly no one cares about what you think.

  • @KevinLuhrs Well 1 person did thanks for the response!

  • @Jimmytulips fuckin oath... SWG crafting was nearly and art form...

  • @d0gm34t Yeh swg was an amzaing game. I think the coolest part for me was watching the cities and stuff come to life as people progressed early in the games history. I didnt play much because i had a bad pc at the time so i missed out on alot unfortunatly.

  • @Jimmytulips yeah and then tryin to buy a city later in the games life when all the city slot had been taken... SWG is a great game its jsut a shame SOE didnt see that... its was my first MMO and ill allways remember the friends i made int hat game...

  • @d0gm34t CONNECTION TO SWG LOST.... : (

  • that's dumb .... i play swtor and never played swg but it's just ridiculous to compare graphics of a game out now and a game which is shut down and way older ... and what does graphics mean about how much fun you have

  • Personally, I think SWTOR is better, on the other half, I hardly played SWG, and I was a little younger than. But that's just me. Are we really gonna start a flamewar over the same franchise?

  • I get it, SWG seemed to be an epic game, but you guys should really cut some slack on SWTOR, I bet half of you guys with the criticism on SWTOR, haven't even played it, give it a try, it can't be that bad.

  • What I find sad: In SWTOR: NPC Wookie following you. In SWG: A real player Wookie playing with you. Hm. Also, you could have shown the player cities and player houses (decoration and such) in SWG. Or show us some Naboo of SWG on max. details and shadows. In SWG every player was able to create their own little world, in the world they were playing. The same goes for Space in SWG vs SWTOR. Actually, SWTOR is missing half the features SWG had. Damn, I am in the wrong game :( R.I.P SWG.

  • Lilbluemine's point was that TOR running for 8 days is somehow much better than SWG running for 8 years. He even predicts that TOR will never need an expansion, and that expansions and new content are somehow bad for games. We can all be thankful that he isn't an actual game developer or publisher.

  • This isn't fair because I have both games and my SWG looks 10 times better than this guys there both great, SWTOR is little better graphics, but still manageable on most pc's.

  • Comment removed

  • One thing I've noticed is that some folks are talking about all the things SWG had. I played SWG for years and loved it. Awesome game. But it had nothing when it started. No space flight and no speeders.

I just cannot see how you can compare SWG with all it's additions over the years to this game, which hasn't even started yet.

  • so if you dont like tor then keep on playing galaxys

    oh wait

  • SWG is still up and running with the SWGEmu project at least. :)

  • The SWG maps are infinitely more badass, but tOR has a much crisper image. TOR looks way too cartoonish.

  • @Killacelt mmo's look better "cartoonish" imo...leave realism to fps games

  • @chucknorrisgawd only in your opinion. I persoanlly detest ToR style. especially character art.

  • They are both a different kind of good!

  • I'll enjoy this world in ToR more. Cant stand seeing peoples stupid houses in SWG while tyring to catch some nice scenery or visit POI's. Ex. Line of houses in beggars canyon.

  • Wow, I did not know so many people would be so heated for posting this video.

  • It's comparing sort of cave with nice paintings on walls and ceiling in which you can complete/repeat few missions of set level range

    to

planet on which you can travel on freely, build your own house on or shop with your own vendors selling items you made, put down structures to harvest its natural (changing) resources, build things or fly your ship above it, even create series of your own missions or race track if you'd like to use chronicle system etc.

    Different things. Can't compare them.

  • SWTOR has the better graphics, but SWG has the better environment in my opinion. There are enemies/creatures every few feet in swtor, but swg has things better spaced out.

  • Love both, obvious better graphics in TOR, but SWG is way impressive for its' time. I hope TOR and bioware learn a few things from SWG.

  • SWG pre-nge will always have a place in my heart for mmo's but TOR wins.

sure it doesn't have true space combat but no doubt that will be added with the demand for it.

I loved the TOR beta, never got to see Tattooine but it's probably my most anticipated planet besides Hoth.

and you're asking to compare graphics, this is a 2003 game vs 2011. might as well compare PS3 graphics to PS2 judging by that logic.

  • SWTOr doesen't look any better & sorry but swg wins. overhyped game that will go same fate as other hyped games.

  • @insaneblade87 You clearly haven't played .. well at a guess i'd say EITHER of these games.

  • @Lilbluemine

actully have swg for 7 years on bria/kettemoore and starsider/chilastra/bloodfin . i'll take sandbox over the pos sandboxed tor that won't get as far in content enless you wanna count the whole stupi voice acting as something lul.

if you played Bria then you'd know -SV- McO-E/LCG/GoE/'DD'/JEDl/RGB Etc Chilastra i can name RPD/BKSN/SR/GS Etc i can keep going i'v been in most of theys over the past 7 year's.

  • Tatooine on SWG wins, there was no competition in the first place. Why? Because it feels like a desert at least: huge and lonely, compared to ToR's "puddle" of a Dune Sea and life forms every 2 meters.... Oh and yeah, the Sarclaac in ToR? You kidding me?

  • @Darthprotos Except for the thousand of NPCs and houses he was driving by....?

  • @Amksed Krayt Dragons. You argument is invalid.

  • @Darthprotos Dec 15th. You're argument is invalid.

  • @shadowsrevival Huh?

  • @Darthprotos SWTOR has Krayt dragons. Your argument is stupid.

  • Comment removed

  • @Darthprotos Umm the dune sea is actually pretty huge, not only that there's also the sith area's at the bottom (or jedi at the top if your sith) to explore. Just shh. I hate the SWG community. Now that their games gone, they've either migrated to youtube to whinge, or SW:ToR forums.

  • @Lilbluemine Pretty huge compared to what? An 8 inch by 8 inch sandbox where half of it is unexplorable due to your character being "too tired" on this patch of sand and dieing compared to the patch of sand 10 meters away.

  • @Darthprotos So you want the game to what.. be bigger? Quit your whinging. If SWG was worth the effort they would have kept the servers running. SWG needed 3-4 expansions to even keep its game going. The original game alone was terrible. ToR however has been officially out to the public for 8 days. Don't even get why they're being compared, exhaustion zones are in other games, you going to cry on content relating to them too?

  • @Lilbluemine you shut the fuck up. SWG IS BETTER THAN FUCKING SWTOR I PLAY SWTOR BUT STILL SWG IS THE BEST MMORPG EVER SO YOU HATER SHUT THE FUCK UP ALREADY!!!!!!!!! Ok sayd what i wanted to say :D

  • @Lilbluemine Haha, you BioDrones are so easy to troll. All and all, yes ToR has been out for just over a weak. What difference does it make? Why are they compared? Because they are both MMO's, and even more they are both Star Wars. Why is WoW compared to ToR? For the same reason. Exhausting zones? As in ones that are big? What makes a zone exhausting is how it plays out. If all you do grind it out, it will be boring, same goes if all is traveling. Bigger game? No, I wan a fun game.

  • Comment removed

  • @Lilbluemine Haha! When did you get the idea that ToR isn't specifically want I want it to be? Is it because stating the obvious that is driving you into defending the game so badly you cant read what I wrote? Please, lay off the rose tinted goggles and don't pretend to know what I want. You cant truly "love" something until you criticize it.

  • SWTOR has way better graphics

  • You can really see the difference in game engines. Though one has atmospheric flight and the other doesn't have it. Well, the answer to your question is a bit obvious based on the release date and game engine (2003 vs. 2011). I will miss SWG. TOR doesn't have space that I am looking for... I will go to Freelancer and Black Prophecy XD.

  • SWG, no competition. Derp

  • SWTOR has the better graphics.
