You dont understand the community behind this... its better this way because it introduces younger folks that wouldnt ever see this film, i never really heard or seen this film till i went to EVO. Its like christmas, if you got presents all the time throughout the year, getting a present on x-mas wouldnt feel as special. This is one of those you have to see, but you have to attend EVO and be there with the actual people and the "community" to enjoy this film at its best.
You can't. Sorry. They occasionally play it at the Evo tourney I think, but otherwise it was never released to the general public. I haven't seen it either.
I don't understand that. I read up on it last night, heard that it is not a bad documentary, and all the back story, and that they only play at EVO. But it boggles me that they did not do a wide release like Fist Full of Quarters they could be cashing in for the work they put into doing the film. I think though most important that it would benefit all gamers to watch what happens in the american SF pro gaming scene even if it was a couple of years ago.
Master copy of the documentary got lost ( Some say from 9/11) and they only have copies on it, and the rights to use the music they have on it is just way too much money, even if they sell a few hundred they just can't make the money to buy the rights.
They can't take out the music or they have to take out the whole sound. The documentary has only been shown to very good friends of the creators and Unfortuantely it's most probably not going to be shown at all.
They should just pull a Trent Reznor and have someone "leak" it via torrent. If you can't sell it then give it away for free instead of denying everyone the ability to see it.
Gootecks podcast with Alex Valle. After 9/11, the only copy of the movie they have is with the music hard-coded into the film, and the music they had in that cut is expensive enough that it would be hard to put the film out and recover the losses taken as a result of production for the creators. The people that do own copies of it won't *leak it* out of respect for the creators' work, and the hope for the chance that they would see a profit on it one day. If it leaks, that would never happen.
Not sure I agree with that last statement. I think SRK and the fighting game community as a whole is pretty cool and supportive. They would probably pay to own this, even if it had been leaked. Maybe they could re-dub it haha. They had to do that to THE STATE dvds when they came out because of the same music issues.
@Wolfkiller I know this is months late, but if it leaks there is no way it would make money. Documentaries are a small, very unprofitable genre of film, even more than that it's indie and it's several years old. On top of that it's in a smaller sub genre relating to this one thing.
While it may be good to the SF fanatic, regular people wouldn't buy it.
The marketing and production alone would be too hard to recoupe, and then you have expensive licensed music.
@Wolfkiller I agree. They should also make a another one that has cali players,NYC players also japanese players that have interviews and share their thoughts about Fighting Games etc. That way they can sell that one.
@matmiester I think this whole "can't take the music out" thing is just an excuse. Just release it already and be done with it. Or leak it online so the world can see it. Maybe the movie is just really bad and they don't want to release it.
This was filmed in 2002 I think, when Daigo was like 20 (that's why he looks so young). Valle first lost to Daigo in the early 90s. '97 or '98 I think.
This was filmed after Alpha 3. In Early 2000. Because they filmed this for the first Japan vs USA tournament. You can only see it through Bang the Machine.
How about in your sleep douche bag since it was never realeased... Its not your fault though, it hards to type in "bang the machine" in google and then have every article say "unrealeased documentary".
Torrent this shit at the pirate bay or something, come on...this is so interesting...

@matmiester That's funny you said 9/11. I asked Mr. Wizard years ago and this reply was that the master copy was in the WTC then, no lie.

lmao you got a good point ryo. Look at their clothes just screams 90s. Then street fighter aplha/zero tournament. means late 90s.
it was out in the arcades in 98. so this could range from 98 to 2000. Just based on what i see.
