I really hope this is a turning point for Iran. The ideology of the Islamic Revolution has isolated Iran for thirty years. The Iranian people went from one dictatorship under the Shah to another under the Ayatollah's. Thirty years is long enough. People have died. The world is watching and Iran needs to change. Whatever mistakes the west may have made, those are in the past. I am British and I have great respect for Iran and its people. We want positive relations with a reformed Iran.
with all due respect my friend, but your government has yet to pay the reperation for the civilians killed in Kenya during the Mao-Mao uprising.
and winston churchill has yet to have his bones dug up and set on trial ( an old european habit ) for using chemical weapons on the iraqis in the 1920's.
our government, since 1979, has made Iran an industrial and scientific focal point in the middle east ... the shah didnt do that. people are better off now than then.
@BaharHayij I am 'culave'- I changed my username because I was having technical problems.
Firstly, I was not writing that to be an apologist for the moral wrongs of my country. You right. The UK has made mistakes both morally and practically. Churchill was a complex man with flaws but the fact is he lead the UK and Europe against fascism in WW2.
Your government, since 1979 has been effectively isolated from much of the world and has had a human rights record even worse than the Shah. It cont;
@BaharHayij cont; has executed and tortured juveniles, homosexuals and political dissidents on dubious charges and accused those who have stood against it as being 'western agents'. ANYTHING that goes wrong in Iran is blamed on the three satins. I wouldn't be surprised if they blamed us for the next earthquake. To western reporters, Ahmadinejad is polite and diplomatic but to his supporters he is a demagogue stirring up hatred and suspicion of outsiders. The unrest in June proves there cont;
@BaharHayij cont; is serious dissatifaction WITHIN Iran and ultimately against the Revolution itself. Do you really think the thousands who demonstrated were British or Israeli agents? You cannot replace 10,000 years of history with 30 years of theocratic dictatorship. I am not anti-Iranian. I respect Iran as a great country but the current leadership is plunging it to self-destruction. My country is not perfect but the fundamental difference is I am free to criticise my Queen and PM. Cont;
It is good to encouraging them, and they definitely need that by all means, but it is wrong to accuse a religion which have milons of belivers in the world in many country. The reason for those acts are because of the dictator ship of some group of people who want to hold the power in their hands, and they are trying to do it by frightening the people using the cover of a religion, just like the ones who did the exactly same thing in Europe in middle ages by using christianity to cover it.
There are many other countries in which most of their population are believing islam but none of them are having these problems with that intensity, like Malesia, like Turkey, like many parts in India or Asia. Problems are there because of the peole who miss interprate religions and use them for power and for themselves. I hope all these problems in Persia will finish soon and people would get all the tings their right to get.
I don't know if Turkey is a good example of freedom or of Islam not making people cruel. This year three people were beheaded in Turkey because they did not believe Islam but were Christians.
usatubing- beheaded in Turkey? Are you sure about that? decapitation tends to be more a tactic of islamist militants in Iraq and other trouble spots. Even in the troubled areas of eastern Turkey, I have not heard about beheadings. And Turkey does not have the death penalty.
what are your resources? Where did you find this information. ANY religion attacking ANY OTHER RELIGION is not religious....it's more like RACISM. Why is this happening. Christians are no better.....CRUSADES..need i say more.
I heard 2000+ "individual arrests" have been conducted in Tehran alone today. I guess this is the result of one of them. This is so fucked up. Do the mullahs seriously think they're gonna dismantle revolutionary movements by raiding campus..?
You guys are such brave freedom fighters I hope you get your freedom and I hope you can tell your children some day how you freed Iran from this regime that seems to keep you from reaching your full potential...

i appreciate ur change of tone. Im not saying that 13 million votes have been changed. although honestly when only a group of people are in charge with no supervision it is possible.I said there is no doubt of fraud, now the extent I do not know. Rezaei's village had 800 votes for him, only 20 were allocated to his campaign. this is just a small part. numerous other legit and documented claims exist. even that small (rezaei) concern voids the elections as a whole. ty
I think the talk about the candidates "village" is an insult to the nations intelligence! The POOR have seen the change in their lives, with Ahmadinejad... Whoever I talk to, has had his wages doubled or even tripled in the past 4 years (the poor). Btw, each candidate had a supervisor + a supervisor from the main setad. Cheating is virtually impossible, especially 13 million. People only see the youth loving mousavi by wearing green. They never see the millions in villages and small cities!
that was a direct qoute from Rezaei's mouth, so if its an insult then tell him not to insult himself. but i tend to disagree. u are entitled to your own opinion. Cheating is not impossible when the interior ministry announced a number completeky contradicitn the other 3 canidate's reps in the precincts. if they all had compatible numbers and everyone was shouting FRAUD then yes it is just propaganda. but not when ALL OTHER 3 candidates have numbers COMPLETELY contradicting the official results
Well none of the other candidates have released any evidence, numbers so far! +, all 5 must be the same... each candidate can't release a number different to others for each specific centre.
ETEFAGHAN all 3 candidates have launched complaints about voteing fraud. and about this video, Mr Larijani just announced the formation of a commitee to look into the beating up of students at The University Dorms.
All 3 candidates numbers released to each other were almost compatible, while the Official vote counts were no where near the candidates.
Well they have launched complaints (after they provoked people to crowd the cities and demonstrate). But before that, all they said was "the votes are rigged" with no evidence whatsoever. And the fact that you're saying all 3 candidates have identical counts, different to those released to me seems completely baseless. What's the source?
dude, ur not gonna acceopt anything so Im done with this. first u say no one launched a complaint then u say , well they did, but after they prvoked people. how did they provoke people under house arrest for 2 days??? People arent dumb and the sooner u recognize that the better. as far as the counts, go to rezaei, mousavi and karoubis websites. Rezaei is the only one that announced through independant media, but about his own votes he released the figures. u can check. Im done with u
House arrest?! The guy is outside demonstrating. Also, they never launched an official complaint until they were told to do it the proper way after meeting the leader. Before that, it was all bullshitting. And finally, investigations are in progress, but whatever the result, they will still complain and disagree. That's as clear as daylight.
he was under house arrest till sunday afternoon!!! so he couldnt launch a complint until he was released and as soon as he was released he did. Also the leader didnt even allow addequate time for it to happen.On saturday the leader released a statement approving the elections which should have been done after the guradian council NOT before.
