When HTM called himself "the Big Man on Campus" here, I always believed the "campus" was that interview area where several times he played his greatest hits on the heads of the wrestlers he feuded with. Of course, the next week on The Brother Love Show, Snuka got a taste of The Honky Tonk Man's guitar licks.
The real reason the people came to the auditorium that day was to hear Honky Tonk Man sing and to watch him dance. It was not only disrespectful to HTM to cut him off like that, it was disrespectful to the crowd as well. Superfly should have recognized this and been a better sport about things.
i didnt start watching til summerslam that year didn't they sometimes cross-reference certain spots on superstars & wrestling challenge (i.e. brother love show) and just have the different announcers....my memory's a bit messed up i'm sure but back then they taped a lot of shows on the same day (superstars, challenge, snme, all american, prime time, ppv specials)
Why does the graphic says Superstars of wrestling? This took place on Wrestling Challenge. Mean Gene Okerland rarely conducted interviews on the Superstars of Wrestling on podiums. Ninety percent of the time he was a Wrestling Challenge interviewer.
That graphic must be a mistake. Gene even mentioned that it took place on Wrestling Challenge last week. I'm surprised none of the post-production video editors caught that mistake!

Funniest part is that he debuted as a face. Hulk Hogan introduced him as a friend of his. The fans booed him from day one and the rest is history.
