And indeed the lives of so so many fans. I'm only 16, I picked up a Metallica album for the first time about a year and a half ago I believe, and it just clicked for me, it really did. The man is one of my idols, truly, as is the whole band really. I have all their albums and various other merchandise of theirs and I always find good things to say about them although some others may not, and no matter what new music styles or bands I come accross, I always name Metallica as my favourite.

Technically, no one intentionally started Metallica. Lars had a spot on a compilation. James had just broke up with another band. They met, and Lars talked him into playing on it. Then they found two more guys to help record what became "Hit The Lights" for the compilation, because the song had to be an original to be included, and it kinda grew from that. Lars himself has said in many interviews that all he had set out to do was to play covers he liked, not necessarily start an original band.
