As I see it, ALL of the show (except the ending) was correct, but the TRUE official ending was the movie End of Evangelion. Seriously it is nice to see an ending that isn't cliche. Cliche in movies and TV shows is the good guys win, but this broke that cliche by having the good guys get their asses kicked so hard, and then all of humanity gets PWNED by the anti-ATfield, that makes people literally fall apart into a pool of basic organic chemicals.
The show's ending sucked so bad it wasn't funny. It had Shinji wake up only to find ALL of the battles he fought with his EVA against the angels were all just a dream.
After I saw that I was like "WTF, you mean to tell me all of the battles that I saw that I thought were SOOOO cool actually never freaking took place because it was just a dream?! What a BS ending!!!"
Thank goodness that End of Evangelion fixed that by not only keeping the battles real (no dream), but the end itself was perfect.
@BenHutchinson1 : Dude, it WASN'T a dream. You got the wrong impression with that ending. Shinji just realized that he needs to accept people into his life, and quit being afraid of people. The same realization happens in the movie, but of course it doesn't end with "congratulations!" The show couldn't show the actual ending that they had in EOE because of time, and censorship restraints, so they settled on that ending. It was all real.
Yeah, the movie is very polarizing, even for fans of a series which is itself quite polarizing. I liked the movie, but that might say some unsettling things about my emotional state. A lot of people just don't like it. Too Freudian at times, and just plain disturbing, but then again it's also just gorgeous.
yeah it was very unique it's probabley just because I'm a christian and the show has alot of biblical stuff in it and it's alterd in a way that kinda freaks me out...plus I heard the commentary and I saw the whole misato blowing up in half part. but even though it was a little unsettling for me doesnt mean that some of the visulization wasnt good.
End of Evangelion, the biggest mindfuck i've ever seen.
