  • The Prince was a Spritely little bastard.

  • @doritostheking I think what mocthezuma means is the programmers of thses old games had to be efficient. If a programmer today took the time to make use of every resource available on a computer with 4 gb of ram, and a even just a 2 gigahert processor, they could make an amazing game. But it would take forever to optimize (just as making these games work with TINY amounts of ram did). Programmers just haven't kept up with how computers have improved. In fact, we have gotten quite sloppy.

  • Hehe, 1 of my classic games. :-) I didn't know it's exist in Atari version too. I played it all time in PC version.

  • Loved this game and the music :)

Scared the crap out of me when the guy jumped out of the mirror the first time.

  • the worst thing that ever happened to games was asthetics and processing power. programmers had limited powers and so they used their brain more. a game had to be fun not just look great.

  • @sine0 You're one of those miserable old gits who thinks 3D isn't all what it's cracked up to be, aren't you?

  • @doritostheking If it's used to enhance the gameplay experience then it's fine, but if it's used(as it mostly is) purely as a special effect and eye-candy, then it's meaningless.

There is a reason why the old Star Wars movies are infinitely better then the new ones. Back then the filmmakers had to be creative and work hard to make things work, and ultimately the movies were more story driven. In the new ones they just put as much shit as they could into every scene and it's just a mess.

  • @mocthezuma Bloody hell... You actually think that.

You're right about star wars though.

  • @doritostheking I think the same goes for games. Old Arcade classics like Donkey Kong and Missile Command are just as fun and addictive as they were back then. During the 90s when technology got better the market was flooded with lousy games. A few companies stood out and created great gaming experiences such as LucasArts, Sierra, Microprose, Maxis, Bullfrog, Blizzard, Psygnosis and Broderbund. The same is happening tiday, Just look at the most recent Prince of Persia game. Looks great, is shit!

  • @mocthezuma The point is that 3D isn't just a special effects thing. Most games today would either be impossible or extremely different as a 2d game.

  • @doritostheking Not that many people utilize the 3D effects in games. And I totally disagree. 3D, as it is used now in both movies and games, is just an enhanced effect. It doesn't change the way you interact in the game, and it offers nothing other than a visual effect in movies or television.

And I'm talking about the visual 3D effects. When you need 3D glasses. Not just 3D graphics. That's a whole different thing.

It isn't used to change the interactive gameplay or storytelling at all.

  • @mocthezuma Oh great, you're one of those people who changes what the argument is about when you lose.

Nobody here is talking about 3D in the Stupid-glasses and overpriced TV sense of the word. We're talking about 3D graphics.

  • @doritostheking No I was under the impression that you were talking about 3D movies, and gaming in 3D since your initial comment was

"You're one of those miserable old gits who thinks 3D isn't all what it's cracked up to be, aren't you?"

3D graphics isn't exactly a new innovation and since 3D in cinemas has been reinvented, and 3D TVs for gaming and television is a relatively new invention, I would assume that your comment was focusing on this.

I have no problem with 3D graphics.

  • i loved this game :D:D

i just wonder they don't bring it again for gameboy or sth like..

  • nice ... they dont make games like this anymore ...

  • I absolutely loved this game had it on the atari, great post man

  • ahhhh the old classics are the best.

    5 stars.

Can you upload the thunderbirds game for the atari,i would love to see it one last time.

  • The sound is ok. Most atari ports would substitute sound fx for lame midi noise. At least the developers tried on this title.

What unusual here is to have an Atari game where the graphics look better than the Amiga version.

  • @deltamatrix Thats not really that unusual.

Most of the early releases looked and even sounded better on ST (amiga used a better sound chip and better quality sounds but they often didnt really work so well). In reality the platform the game was originally programmed on was always the one that looked best, which switched to amiga after a couple of years hence earlier ST games look better and later Amiga games look better lol.

History is now repeating itself with the xbox and ps3, interesting tht

  • For fans of chip music this is pretty nice

  • tragic sound :]

  • its good sound

  • I had this game on Commodore Amiga A500 the sound was a lot nicer :p
