"Actual people would not do stuff like this." What about the camera guy in the Walmart commercial who dropped the camera because he was staring at his Walmart receipt?
gotta love those grass valley cameras! At one of the stations I interned at, we had the Ignite system and we never had a problem like that. I feel like the joystick operator hit the next cue and the cameras switched to the weather desk.
Prolly human error. The camera's are still controlled by human, but just one sitting at a control board. Prolly hit the button for a shot they were going to use to early.
This is without a doubt correct....and it was not just the one camera. To me, it looks as though the automated system decided to "home" the robocams. As more and more stations automate Production Control and Master Control, this type of thing will become a common fixture of local television news.
WTXL seems to have undergone some sort of overhaul recently. I can't say I'm a fan. I used to watch channel 27's news all the time, now I pretty much stick with WALB and WCTV.
and i also love how she's saying "you have to find a way to make it work" as the camera pans. haha

Because at ABC 27, even stage managers get their 15 minutes of fame. ;)

It felt that stagehands deserve fame too.

Grass Valley Ignite system... AKA, Parkervision ... completely automated, with NO manual work-around (from the guy who wired it up.)

Proof that some things are better left in human hands...

Human error or computer glitch? I saw the same thing happen to KNBC in Los Angeles; the camera dozed off and just zoomed into nowhere.

But the look on the stage managers face... priceless :)

Those cameras are Grass Valley cameras, which mean...
THIS STATION'S AUTOMATED! Hooray!
This is what usually happens when stations replace their control room with a computer that switches video and controls audio by itself.
