This is my favorite song! God blessed the world when he put Howard, Vestal, Johnny, and all the other Happy Goodmans on it. For over 50 years, they spread the Good News of the Lord wherever they went. I can't wait to get to Heaven and hear the Heavenly Happy Goodmans once more! I'm only 16, and I sing all their songs. Of course, I will never be as talented as they were, but feel free to check out my videos. Thanks! And I DO thank God for the Lighthouse!
There will never be another Vestal. What an amazing soul. I cant wait to meet her in Heaven. She said when she got to Heaven she was gonna "Turn on". She had'nt turned on here on earth......She was saving it for Heaven. We are all blessed to enjoy her music and all the other entertainers.... past and present. God Bless The Happy Goodmans. Can't wait to meet everyone!!!
And Jesus said: I AM the way, the truth, and the way, no one comes to the Father except thru Me. If you don't believe that, well that's ok, but your disbelief makes it no less true.
This is a wonderful tribute to Kenny Hinson and the Hinsons altogether. I feel that the selection of singers for this song was very fitting. I Feel that Westin Hinson does a better job on the verses though. There was never and will never be a voice like Vestal Goodman
I wonder just how many hankies Vestal threw over the years? And how many she got back? I think every video I have ever seen she has given one to someone. What a kind and compassionate person! And a voice on top of that! Thanks Hoover!
chewy0302, I don't know if you'll see this, but you are right - it will be glorious to sing praises to Him forever. I never thought about it this way, but you preachers will be out of work while we singers will just be getting started... eternity is a LONG time! ;-)
That great cloud of witnesses is standing in glory singing and cheering us on as we walk through this life here on earth... I miss these types of singers...we have some great singers today but none can compare to Vestal...MAY GOD BLESS you all and May GOD bless this country...
All these older singers that have passed on and went to heaven are singing. Me being a minister is thinking. How great it will be when we get there and get to worship with them everyday and with our lord jesus christ leading the service. Wont it be wonderful ?
when the voice of the MASTER sounds,,come up here,,we will all join our loved ones,,& sing the praises to our wonderful LORD,,forever,,what a JOY to know the BLOOD was shed for me ,,THANK YOU JESUS,,so be it ,,,,
Vestal Goodman - there never will be another "Queen of Gospel Music". Just like Kitty Wells, "The Queen of Country Music", she will hold the title forever.
My Dad thought the Goodman Family was the best in the business. And now Dad has been singing with Howard for years, he must be so happy. If we give it all to God we too will join that huge choir and sing God's praises forever. I appreciate the post...................thanks
I went to school with Buddy Mullins..along with his sister Cindy..we were good friends..their family could always sing..His father Roger (Moon) Mullins was our choir leader, and his wife played the piano and all of them could see..I even sang with Cindy..
Roger was choir leader at Baptist Temple years ago when we lived in Madisonville & attended Bro. Lamb's church there. We moved away in 1985. I Loved them all dearly, and often think of them & wonder where & how they are now.
Ronny Hinson penned this song he wrote all the big ones for sure..Nobody could sing the Lighthouse like Kenny Hinson no one can match Kennys range he had such a unmistakable voice he was a vocal atrobat for sure..Kenny Hinson set the benchmark in Gospel music 4 sure.Kenny was offered some big money to sing gospel music but he said no..Kenny wasnt for sale he stayed true to the Lord and thats why the Lord gave him the best voice ever,
the mullins family used to come to the Church i attended many years ago. buddy was just a teen but you could tell he had major league pipes. his sister didnt look too bad either, lol.
john Starnes is the most perfect singer that sings this song, this man also does a great justice to one of the most BEAUTILFULLEST SONGS IN THIS WORLD
I love this song so much, I especially love to hear Buddy Mullins sing it. I think this is the best version I've ever heard. Thank You Hoover4000 for posting such a wonderful musical video. God Bless You !
they were good but my father, my aunt and my great aunt put an extra special touch to the song. when my father sang "if it was'nt for the lighthouse" my great aunt on the piano would sing "TELL ME" then my father would continue with "where would this ship be?"
My roots of gospel music and love for it came from the Mullins family Tent revivals I attended years ago at Baptist Temple in Indianapolis, IN. God bless
What a song, and what a singer to sing it like Vestal. Like others gone "Home" before, and since her. Oh how we miss you all. They will definitely be in Heaven's Choir. Oh what a Day that will be!
I was lucky enough to catch their last run. I have loved Vestal since I was a small child and will never, ever be inspired by anyone quite like I have been by that great lady.I loved her so dearly and know beyond a shadow of doubt when Vestal Goodman walked into a room, the ol' devil skedattled! RIP Vestal!
A great version of this song.Vestal Goodman was one of the best female gospel singers and her performance of this song shows the power of her voice.Thank you so much for posting this !!
jesus is the lighthouse and his word is my way......i am living and trying to do the best i can to make heaven some day.....thank you lord for my christian parents who taught me as a child to know the lord....and i strayed but i never quit believing....cause where could a person go but to the lord with all there problems..god is so real in my soul......no turning back for me.....sanangel
This is my all time favorite song out of any genre of music. But I always go back to this good ole southern gospel music. Being 43 alot of my peers listen to that contempary alternative music. If it reaches the youth it's worth it but my grandparents & parents brought me up on this great music. It lifts my spirits like none other. The Lighthouse does it for me!
My late husband which was a minister loved this song and so do I . It blesses my heart everytime I hear it and brings tears to my eyes. My husband now can see that bright light that shines. Thank God he showed him that light one day and it put him where he needed to be. Thank God for the Lighthouse.
beautiful song wish I had the voice to sing this song it bless my soul this morning before i go to work. that is true if it wasn't for the lighthouse where would this ship be. Praise The Lord
I love this song.I learned it on my honeymoon in Malta many years ago during an Italian dinner with a big long table and the grapes hanging through the window.Great memory's with this song....
For many years I've loved lighthouses. They so resemble Christ keeping me from crashing on the rocks. There are so many times that He's saved me from myself, and I will always treasure this song. What a gift Vestal was to us also. It is so awesome each time I hear her. Thank you so very much for sharing this. It's truly a blessing.
We truly lost a gem & an annointed blessing when we lost Kenny. He's my all time favorite singer. I miss him. But he's rejoicing and singing for Jesus in heaven.
