well boy this was like a year before nadal beat off federer from 1st place in atp rank, credit for all the crying that showed roger over the last year with his frustrations and nadal for all the joy he has given a few and all the pain he has cause over so many selfish people.
Having been to Madrid, I do think Rafa makes a good point in that higher altitude causes the balls to bounce more unpredictably and carry father which was why Nadal missed some shots long and wide. Also, the clay at RG is much heavier rewarding Nadal's wicked topspin and making it unlikely for Fed to get around Nadal's ball. Fed will have to win with his backhand. He has never beaten Nadal with it before and I don't see him doing it now. Rafa breaks Borg's record and wins 5 in a row.
This is it for Fed at RG. He turns 28 in August. This is his best chance to beat Rafa on the red dirt at RG, but Rafa would just as soon be run over by a truck than lose on his beloved clay, especially to Fed. Yes, the rivals share respect, but yesterday showed that while Rafa on the surface credits Fed, Rafa believes he is better than Fed and Fed should really never beat him if both play their A game. I like this. It will intensify the rivalry.
Rafa and Roger will forever be trading the number one spots for a while. Thats what the TWO best players in the world do. Doubt there'll be a place for Djokovic in this race over the long run. Thats just MY feeling
I partially share your feelings in the regard that Nadal's and Federer' s skillz and rivalry have overshadowed Djokovic. However he did win a gran slam by beating Federer in the semis. He has shown capability of beating the 2 best players. I think he has put himself into the mix. It is my opinion that the mix will get bigger with the upcoming talents like Murray, Gulbis, Monfils... Feel free to disagree
agree. i don't think Rafa will keep #1 for a long time (i'd like him to, but we'll see...)
I think Roger and Rafa will switch back and forth. No more 2000 point difference btw 1 and 2 (like it used to be in 2006)
Djokovic...he might have his turn. But Roger and Rafa proved this year that they are a step above. Djokovic has had no competition from behind him. Now he has Murray creeping up. Makes things interesting.
These two are the greatest the world of tennis has ever seen...yes i said it. The best ever!! Let me take it a step further and say Nadal/Federer rivalry is as good as sports get. God bless them both. Now that the end of Federer's #1 reign is officially in sight...it will be ineteresting to see how Federer fares at the #2 spot.
My prediction(and note me on this)...Roger Federer will win the US open later this year, and Australian open next year to regain his top spot.
It was my prediction after wimbledon Fed will win US open. But now we ll have to wait and see if he can regain his composure and mentally stabilize himself.
Interesting how the personalities cross over. The one with the "rebel" looks, the youth and exuberance is also the most humble, and at the same time the toughest mentally.
The one with the experience and refined style can lose his temper and concentration more easily. He's most likely to swear or throw the racket (although still quire rare). They are both perfect gentlemen on and off the court. They are two of the best role models for our kids that sport has ever produced.
Nadal has to eat more grass yet to be a specialist in this surface, baby. Far behind Federer still. He needs better serve and volley. Lets see how he keeps the N°1 pressure as Federer did during 4 years. US open was an example this is not easy.
Clearly Rafa & Rodger are at the same level! Rodger had more yrs to get titles, Rafa has won more (for his age/in amost half the time). Different? Maybe, but also very similar- if as least in talent & quality!
Here we see images of Rodger winning -not Rafa; Rodger holding the trophy at the end! However, it's Rafa who holds a winning head 2head -beaten Rodger 11/17 times. It's Rafa who has 28 titles at 22yrs of age. And why showing Wimbledon? As for opinions, Rafa's too humble about himself & the opinions of profesionals TODAY are very different to those a yr a go -Rafa's game has changed a lot! Rafa dominates clay & Rodger grass but they're both all-court players.
~ Thanks for posting this! These spots are great, including the short music videos run at the beginning of broadcasts. Grab all of 'em, please, please, please!
Too much fuss about Sampras. The only thing he did well was serving. He accumulated GS but didn't get one single title on clay, lol! We can say that his record is "handicapped" failing to win on a surface is not a good record of a 15 yrs career!! Wow. As for McEnrow, don't even go there, ok. He was a supreme player & magnetic/funny personality. He was one of the greatest!
Well you know very litle. You should realise that R&R rivalry has been compared to Borg-McEnrow. Where Rafa's style is like Borg's & Rodger like McEnrow. hehehehe

@ YoSoyZuri:
Everybody has their own opinion and that's allright. The Rafa/Roger rivalry is also strong between the fanbases.
But PLEASE...
he is written "ROGER" not "RODGER"...
as a great tennis fan you should at least know that.
Oh and you were ciritizising, that the ugly (?) photo of Rafa is showed over and over again.
This is an EPSN vid and NOT fanmade - obviously.
Don't be so paranoid not all Federer Fans are trying to decry Rafa. ;)
Rafa also has a great character.

haha...nahhh YoSoy..rafa's gonna get this one. i feel it.

Why is that ugly photo of Rafa 0:35 repeated all over the vid?? hahaha ... Rodger's fans!
YoSoyZuri 3 years ago
I admire both players, Federer a bit more because of his style and character.
I think they are the greatest tennis archrivals ever. Federer the best and Rafa the strongest number 2 of all time.
