i currently have a 93 with the 7.3 IDI and i want to change to a 12 valve cummins how much do you think i need to plan on setting aside to accomplish this build. Reason i wanna do this is stock wont handle the boost i wanna put on this truck.
How much did the swap cost you? I've been thinking about a cummins swap for a while now. I'm thinking something along the lines of $5K for a basic swap with no major mods. My IDI is strong, but its reaching its limits.

Well I have a T19 4 speed currently lol. Anyways it would be that plus a brownie box behind it, or a ZF-5 speed. Not big into the auto's, but thats just me.

5.4 huh? those are the biggest pile of dog shit for ever made! it coulnt pull a grease sting outa natts ass!! and its shifting thats why its slow, the torq conveter doesnt like in till 3rd gear,and thw whistle is the turbo.and just cuz its smokin dont me its broke!
My dad has an 01 E-350 with 450,000 miles. Only thing thats been replaced on it is the starter. The original spark plugs were in it till 250,000 miles. Doesn't burn a drop of oil and the tranny is still in amazing condition

ya,, what are you talkin about??? the 5.4 is a gas motor to begin with,, and the whistleing is a turbo for the diesel,, hahah,,, i mean,, i have a weak 5.8 in my 96 f350,, it does the job,, but id kill to have a diesel in mine,, i want to do a 7.3 conversion, only cause i feel it would be easier an cheaper than the cummins, seeing as powerstrokes actually were made for these trucks.. but to say put a 5.4 gasser in this truck would be a waste of time and money,, LOVE the cummins conv, nice truk
@The150xlt, If you don't know what your talking about, don't say anything...the whistling is the turbo, the black smoke is incompletely burned fuel because the engine has alot of fuel running trough it...if you think its slow lets see your 5.4 go against it.

cummins are the best motors. tell me they arent. the fastest 1/4 mile diesel IN THE WORLD is powered by cummins. search "scheid dragster" on here you will see it. 7.3 at 189. this year it should run 6.8 at 200. i know the driver.

it is easy.. with the right sponsor and enough capital anything can be done.. actually sometimes is not that expensive..

second.. dodge doesnt own mercedes.. Daimler Chrysler Owns DETROIT and MERCEDES, not DODGE!
