  • Absolutely amazing!!!

  • Love the..."popcorn!"

  • The cheerleaders back then are better than the cheerleaders in this decade.

  • 1:32-1:38 LOVE<3

  • I have LOVED these videos of yours!!!! I hope that you have more of them, i have been watching them all weekend, ever since i saw a link on fierceboard.... Do you have a large collection of these? I grew up in marietta Ohio, and cheerleading-school was strong ther back in the 80's to mid 90's..I had all of these recorded, but lost them in a move about 15 years ago....Made me sick! I love watching these to see what cheerleading was, and how difficult it was back then, and how far it has come!

  • @cheercoach1984

Sorry, I don't have anymore. I uploaded all the routines from that era that I have.

  • these accents are ADORABLE!!!!!

  • wow these are all my teachers when they were in highskewl how weird

  • Love the "Cheering"!

  • damn all about the ripples, hahaha i think cheer was better back then. they were so together

  • what i had watched, those times routines were slowly, and very exactly synchronized, these times, are more fast, and truly perfect synchronized.

  • Lopito37 - You are watching all my videos! Thanks. If nothing, I hope these tapes stimulate ideas for everyone.

  • well, it may have, but, i did one here in puerto rico, watching these champs on espn (1988), i founded a dance squad in my university, but, they broke up, after i graduated. the difference was, these teams are always training or has gymnastic background, except here, which gymnastic are not supported.

  • Yes, I am an acrobatic gymnastics coach of 30 years. I have tried to work with cheerleaders in the USA but they are not interested in year round training which gymnastics requires. Back in the '80's these kids trained year round.

  • i understand, not to worry, each country works different. what i FEAR is to do tumblings, i do cartwheel (learned it when i started the try outs for the squad). but, i'm 37 yrs now, not very easy to make them, i still can do cartwheel.

  • lopito,

If this is encouragement, when I was 48 I competed at the USAG Acro Nationals in a Men's Four because my 19 year old base got his girl friend pregnant and quit. I lost body weight and lifted weights to get back in shape. I tumbled, but did not have to do a round off back handspring. My encouragement is that you can do sports when older, but you have to properly prepare in training.

  • i never said it was "encouragement", just there are ages appropriate for certain sports, but, you improved to keep training, its cool.

  • That was absolutely fantastic. A great example of coaching and tremendous discipline.

  • Very astute observation. Those were coaches who understood real stunting.

  • i go haleyville and im in the 8th grade

i hate it there so much

  • Eighth grade sucks for everyone, where ever you go to school. It is one of the hardest times of life for all people. Hang in there. Life does get better if you make the right choices.

  • Tell others from your school about this video. I hope cheerleaders will remember the great routines that began the modern industry.

  • Wow! I can't believe I found this. I am from Haleyville and cheered there from 2000-2002. Love the video! They had such a solid routine :)

  • You also had a great cheerleading team when your mom performed.

  • im from haleyville im in 9th greade my mom is in there somewhere its one of the smallest towns ever but we got great football team

  • true im on the same as sherrie and i wish cheer was more like this there so good

  • I totally agree. If enough modern cheerleaders see this they may add a little here and a little there so that a trend to revive old material comes back.

  • But most of the material is illegal

  • Illegal in cheering simply means according to the rules of what ever organization you choose to join. Make a new organization and you have new rules. The organizations who dominate cheerleading today have shown they don't really care about cheerleading, and are only in it for the money. If they cared they would create a developmental program to progressively train athletes safely, like the USAG does for gymnastics.

  • hahahhhahha i love the popcorn part!

  • They were very creative with their choreography.

  • were you a judge or something?

    i love this routine,

i wish i could get my cheer team to do stuff like this!

  • Sherrie,

So do I. I am a stunt gymnastics coach of 30 years. My background is competitive acrobatic gymnastics. I have followed cheerleading in that time and have worked with various squads. Regrettably when I try to teach gymnastics technique for partner stunts I have been refused because it is not NCA or some other way. What you see in these videos demand the right technique. That is why I posted them, to remind cheerleaders what they can do.

  • where do you coach?

check out our videos of our cheer team tell us what you think.

    type in:
