Cech took a head injury and now has to wear a helmet in all of his games, yet he still plays well. Also, you have to look at the defenses of the sides. Manchester United has Ferdinand and Vidic who is an absolute beast on the back line while Chelsea have Terry, who needs to stop doing his teammates' wives, and Alex, who is fairly average, or David Luiz.

David Luiz should be playing in defensive midfield and has good skills going forward but is too inexperienced to be a good centre half at this point, just look at all the needless penalties he gave away this season. Clearly, VDS has a much better back four to shield him, forcing opponents to take long-range pot shots at him which are easy to save and look spectacular. When you watch Chelsea, on the other hand, the defending isn't calm at all, it's nervous. Also United as a whole are better atm.
