  • Anybody know the name of the video on youtube where lindberg plays pictures at an exihibtion and romeo and juliet. It was at this same concert.

  • @ploxprods - He is one of the best no doubt about it, but his playing here is lazy, as any competent trombonist can see. This is not a hard piece to play once you have worked out the alternate positions and have a decent double tongue. There is no reason to bluff it the way he is doing here which is why I'm baffled that someone with Lindbergs ability would do so, when playing it note perfect would be so easy for him. It's lazy, but sounds impressive to those who know little about the trombone.

  • @londonbill100

yeah, I'm a woodwind player, and I could tell this guy is just messing around completely (intonation is half-assed, and I'm hearing blips a throughout, and other musical errors other than the messing around), if the audience laughter wasn't evident enough for others.

  • @TheChunsoo

What musical errors? Please point these out to me in detail, because I would absolutly LOVE to see you best Christian Lindberg...

  • @Schaefer741 Do you not hear them? It's obvious not a serious performance at all because he just lets loose here. He misses notes to the articulations, because he's messing around with the tempo here. He glizzandos everywhere, and misses the pitch sometimes.

The whole point is that this isn't a serious performance.

  • @TheChunsoo Just because there is an element of humor in the performance does not make it a complete joke. Yes, Lindberg missed a couple subtle things here and there, but who doesn't. Also, he chose to take the risks that go along with his playful style of performing. Just because it is a bit lighthearted doesn't mean that it is not a world-class performance by one of the best

  • BRAVO

  • Now that is how you perform!

  • i bet he made all region in high school

  • @flesh2eater in his region they had a special band just for him to solo in front of. He is so good.

  • he is fast!

  • Chuck Norris calls Lindberg a horrendous trombonist, Lindberg turns him into a trombone and plays him the next day

  • Now 26 jealous trombone player missed the like button

  • super best trombonist

  • try free-scoredotcom

  • Lol anybody have sheet musci for this?

  • In the allegro, the 1st block of semi quavers are C-D-Eb which can only be played at this speed from 3rd pos, to 4th to long 5th, or possibly 6th, ot 4th to 3rd. In every version of this I've seen, including this one, the players are bluffing it. It sounds great of course but if you slowed it right down, you'd hear that the first two notes in each block of semi quavers throughout the whole fast section are not the one's written. In other words, cheating.

  • @londonbill100 cheating? in music? cheating? lmao. unless they are i guess using a recording as they do in "lip-syncing", how is it cheating? whatever the performer is doing with his own body to create sound out of the instrument is fair ground, and if it sounds good and right, to whom does it cheat? i think it would be more correct to say they have adjusted the music to fit the limitations of the instrument... cheating... lol made my day.

  • @mmmmmBBQ I remember I was at a clinic and they were using me in the lower band as an example of how to play trombone, people kept saying I am weird because I constantly raised/lowered my eyebrows...guess I am a cheater?

  • @londonbill100 k play it better, record it, and get back to us on that

  • The Best....

    A.G.

  • Christian Lindberg... You are beyond legendary on that instrument.

  • PAZZESCO!!!!!!

  • I closed wrap! :O loljk

  • is the Best!!like him very much..

  • esse cara toca de mais não é atoa que é considerado o melhor do mundo.

  • esse cara toca de mais não é atoa que é considerado o melhor do mundo

  • his sound is so deep

sounds pretty mature and funny :D

  • There are 24 sick people

  • who would dislike Christen Lindberg! Ye fools!!!!!

  • You could believe that God put him on earth to play the trombone.

  • Composer?

  • @tdude129 vittorio monti, arranged by someone else...

  • @tdude129 Vittorio Monti

  • His mouth piece brand is awesome in my humble opinion.

  • @leedshereigo I have one question: Why?

You're sitting around commenting on this video with an unnecessary comment, though SOMEWHAT agreeable, and then deny that you're intentionally trying to attack random people who commented on this, out of rage. Did Playingtrombone ever even speak to you directly? No.

If you'd like, you can make a video of you performing Czardas perfectly accurately AND WITH HUMOUROUS VISUALS, and then come back here and complain. Until then, suck on a ghost chili.

  • 22 sordos

    22 deaf

  • This was awesome!

  • Does anyone know if he is playing the tenor trombone or alto trombone????? thank you

  • @SupraStarrr

    Definitely a tenor.

  • @MastodonRockss Okay thanks :)

  • @MastodonRockss Okay thanks :) has he got like a special (smaller) mouthpiece or something, or is he just really good...? I have a yamaha 48 mouthpiece if that means anything to you haha.

  • @SupraStarrr

He plays on his own custom lindberg mouthpiece made by conn. I wouldn't recommend the lindberg mouthpiece for a beginner, but to answer your question, the cup is definitely smaller. The rim is narrow and very rounded (which is the only thing I like about it), it's a pretty shallow cup, and the throat is almost the same size as a tuba mouthpiece (meaning it's huge). The back bore is pretty similar to a barrel style.

Always try a mouthpiece before you buy it. They're expensive.

  • @MastodonRockss okay i was just really surprised how high he could go, as i can only play a top Bb/C with my mouthpiece, thanks! :)

  • @Playingtrombone ever thought that part of studying a piece is analysing the music? and if when analysing said music you form opinions on it then why shouldn't you voice them? thats called being human fruitloop

  • epic brown noise at 3:41

  • you should all check out my video of alastair kay playing this...its way better than this

  • Comment removed

  • Can I like this 50 times over?

  • @RastaSarah220 Thats because ur young, Lindberg is just most advertised:P

  • Brilliant, what is the need for a lol in there, another ridiculus saying. Pretty sure you won't find me anywhere in there saying he wasn't up to playing the piece well, just a shame that this recording isn't up to the standard of what we know he can do!

  • ....continued, able to comprehend that it is intended as a humorous performance, that is the type of piece it is. However, half of the semi quaver passages are rushed, the notes are not clear, and whether you are world renowned or not it is eminently possible to muck up on a piece by failing in the basics. I have no problem with someone having a laugh with a piece, I have every problem when it is to the detriment of that same piece

  • @leedshereigo

You were the one who brought up stage craft, that's why I put in quotes. It was a less than perfect performance, deal with it. You'd fail a lot harder at the basics than he would, especially on a piece like this. Go watch marty's version of this if technical perfection is such a concern to you.

  • @MastodonRockss Especially on a piece like this? brilliant, yes Csardas/Czardas however you want to spell it is seen as one of the virtuosic pieces, but its one of the standards for a reason, the reason being its not to far out of the realms of technically difficulty for most people who have a decent understanding of music to play. And i'm sorry i didn't realise we were going on the tangent of my dads bigger than your dad with the whole "well you were the one who brought up stage craft" grow up!

  • @leedshereigo You're the one who's throwing around the insults, so you should expect to get some flames or upset comments in return. I understand your point that Lindberg could do a better job, but as far as I know this is the only video of him doing this, and we have to take what we get from it.

  • First things first, anybody who feels the need to phrase is as 'stage craft' rather than as normal stage craft has got a few underlying issues that a very good friend of mine who specialises in therapy can help you sort out. More importantly though, blessed as I am with a fully working brain I am actually ab

  • @leedshereigo Anyone that critiques Christian Lindberg better play better than Christian Lindberg. And I haven't been able to find anyone that can play on his level yet, except for Joe Alessi. So shush.

  • @RastaSarah220 what an atrocious argument, if that were the case then the best people in the world would be beyond reproach, and who decides that they are the best is it them or us? as that could lead to confusion... hows about re reading what i first wrote which was more of a regret that someone as good as him didn't smash this piece!! now please be quiet, i'm fed up of people berating another's opinion with half thought pathetically childish arguments

  • @leedshereigo Do you even get gigs on the same line as Christian Lindberg? Probably not....and just the fact that you're trying to pick a fight on Youtube must mean you have nothing else to do. So since I'm not a fan of wasting my time, I'm going to go practice MY trombone. Have fun annoying everyone!

  • I'm kind of hoping it's the recording quality, as the amount of duff going off is quite poor for a player of his quality, I fear it my be down to him going a little to far with the stage craft and not concentrating enough on the notes in hand

  • @leedshereigo

Lindberg is considered one of the best trombone players in the world for a reason. This performance was intentionally lax and and humorous, thus the ludicrous 'stage craft'. In fact, a performance like this just goes to show just how good of a soloist he is. He can impress the audience and make then laugh at the same time, thus making it very entertaining.

  • wow. not only is he an amazing player, but a true performer.

  • how ???!!

  • you spelled czardas wrong...

  • @vowywowy it is spelled like that also (except there are accents on the a's)

  • I like it very good!

  • Like it or not, it's a perfect example of amazing chemistry between a soloist and his accompanist. The piano never gets in the way, takes over when it's his turn, backs away when it's not, and is always right with the soloist. Just what accompanying is supposed to be.

  • DEMASIADISIMAMENTE EXCELENTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • tambien soy trombonista y christian lindberg es mi idolo y modelo a seguir...... algun dia me gustaria conocerlo y tocar con el..............

  • I've seen this video maybe 20 times, and i still cant decide if i should practice first, then cry later, or cry first, then practice?

  • @gumblut do you have a copy of this music? because if you do I am looking for a place to purchase said music. If you have any tips thanks.

  • @gumblut i do both at the same time:(

  • how the heck does he do this

  • what is the sound of 3:44 ? :D very very nice tone..

  • Definitely best trombone performer if not soloist. He's so eccentric :D

  • Sorry for the rant. I don't mean to hate on LIndberg, he is a fabulous trombone player. But it is just plain incorrect to anoint him as the "world's best trombone soloist" when you have at least a handful of others that are alive today that are just plain better.

  • This is actually not a very good performance for LIndberg. I think Joe Alessi is superior in every aspect of trombone. The only fault that Alessi might have is that he plays too square sometimes or doesn't take as many chances as others. But make no mistake his gifts as a virtuoso are unmatched in the world of trombone.

  • buenisimo!! toca increible! .............se ve gracioso cuando el pianista corta una parte que tenia que repetir y lindber se queda asi como de que onda?? jajaja =D

  • And so a great composer!!!! listen to his flute concerto The world of montuagretta, is awesome!!!

  • 1 John 4:20 If you don't forgive from your heart this verse is talking to you.

  • Totally inspiring. I hope to be as good someday. =)

  • @BBallGrlHannah me too, but then again, who dosen't?

  • ..O_o

  • at 3:07 what notes are those?!?!?!?!?

  • @knifenewbie456 I think he hums into the horn when he reaches the 6th octave :P Pretty impressive regardless :)

  • I wonder what mouthpiece he uses. It was probably crafted by Zeus.

  • @SpaghettiDjango he uses the mouthpiece that he designed with his father in law. Go to his website to find out more about them.

  • @SpaghettiDjango looked like a gidding and websters to me.

  • @SpaghettiDjango It's uh...a Christian Lindberg mouthpiece! :) He has a whole series of custom mouthpieces. He uses a Conn 88-H CL (Christian Lindberg) and a CL mouthpiece.

  • A great trombone player and one of the worlds best. I wouldn't call him the best, since there are many others who are just as amazing as he is.

Lindberg doesn't just play this piece, he truly performs it.

  • @SnafeComposed Christian Lindberg is the best trombone virtuose. Consider the technique and repertoire. This piece is on the studio recorded album The Virtuoso Trombone.

  • @mickek77 There are many other trombone performers that play the same repertoire. Lindberg is indeed one of the best, I can't argue against that. But there are others (such as Alessi, principal of the NY Philharmonic) who perform to the same level as Lindberg...

  • @SnafeComposed No there are no other trombone player with the same repertoire as Lindberg.

  • I should go and practise now...

Were can i get the music for this?

  • SUCH GREAT FUN!!

  • 18 jealous trombone players missed the like button.

  • @alucardsangel0715 now its 24

  • @alucardsangel0715 24 lmao

  • @alucardsangel0715 26 sir, 26 unlucky ones

  • this is cute hhaha so funny and so good too ! :D

  • Perfection nothing more

  • I do think Lindberg is amazing, but my favorite is stiill Gehard Fussel of Mnozil Brass. By the way does anyone have the UMI Christian Lindberg mouthpieces, I want a mouthpiece for Euphonium/Trombone but I haven't found one yet. i see he's using one, anyone with advice please share!

  • what a guy

  • Hilarious! I love how they act and play incredibly well!

  • esse cara toca!!!

  • By an insult to csardas you mean beautifully played with a sense of humor and purposely off pitch at sometimes?

  • sorry but i think that Christian Lindberg is better than eany one else.

  • Not just technical mastery, but brilliant interpretation and showmanship. My respect for Christian continues to grow.

  • simply brilliant!

  • Trombone - nydelig.

  • Daaaaang

  • jaja como le corto una parte el pianista! jajaja pro me encanta!!

  • Hes my hero haha!

  • Technically all bones are tenor. That one has an F attachment which you can open and close. And think of how much fun that choriography was...

  • @venskus2009 not all trombones are tenor.

    there are bass and alto..

alto trombone is in Eb while bass is also in Bb but it has larger bore and additional tubing for lower notes..

  • What was all the running about?

  • @HuggumsMcgehee its like a funny sketch thing going on

  • is that a tenor bone?

    /also Holy fuck hes good.

  • yes, its a tenor trombone.

  • ??? this is what silent films were made of right?

  • I guess classical musicians and classical music fans do lack a sense of humor after all...

  • Don't delete your comments. It makes you look like an ass.

And no....I will not "bite" you. Thanks for the offer though :)

  • @svolypet

Thanks for the feedback. And my sincerest apologies...

  • This guy is amazing :D

  • what a horse shit...poor Monti

This is such a beautiful piece of music and a couple good musicians wanna be funny and prove that anyone can be ignorant if one only tries hard enough

  • Everyone is ignorant by definition. Everyone lacks knowledge of something, therefore everyone is ignorant. Your assumption that Vittorio Monti, if alive, would have not found this interpretation humorous or appealing makes you just as guilty of ignorance as Christian Lindberg. You cannot speak for the dead or a body of people, so don't assume this performance was "horse shit."

  • the "horse shit" is my personal opinion I never assumed that Monti would or not like it. I simply stated that in my opinion it is horse shit and an insult to Monti's genius, so I am speaking for myself since I am allowed to do so in my book, whether you like it or not.

  • The "horse shit" is your personal opinion? That sounds about right. If anything, the many musicians who play Monti's piece, regardless of the format, are attracting attention to his piece. Not playing the piece at all would be an insult to Monti's genius since it would never get the recognition it deserves without performance. Quite obviously, you won't change your mind about the matter and neither will I. Good day to you, sir or ma'am.

  • agree.

  • (a la Wayne's World) WE'RE NOT WORTHY!!! WE'RE NOT WORTHY!!

  • passionate as ever! lindberg is amazing!

  • I guess you don't know Lindberg very well, then.

  • Comment removed

  • Lindberg is the best and most virtuoso trombonist of all time, it has everything one wants, their abilities are the best trombonist, his sound in the end, he's the guy ...

  • on one day i will be almost playing so well as Lindberg

This is really good en performed.

    Good phrasing

  • No you won't. Sorry.

  • Certainly puts on a show huh?

  • MAESTRO!

  • Wow.. Amazing. I would die if I could play as good as Lindberg.

  • daaaangg.......... fantastic.......

I wish I could play with even a sixteenth of the skill Lindberg has! T.T

  • My old trombone playmate - he's fantastic!

  • agreed supertromboneman, they're a great team. some of us are intimidated or put off by classical music, so the humor is wonderful and helps "find a way in" and learn to enjoy it

  • This is amazing! Very beautiful...

  • this amazing!!!!!! he's a GOD!!The best player in the world.thank you christian

  • he exaggerates WAY too much.

  • hes animated. is that such a bad trait?

  • This is beautiful. I need to practice...

  • jejeje...! me encanta!

  • I love the show he puts on with the song, turns a straight forward song into an entertaining piece. I love his acting. Him and Roland play well together.
