Can we PLEASE stop bringing up Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber! I'm so tired of hearing about those two. Gaga is a wannabe copycat and Bieber is a little girl who wishes he were as sexy as David Bowie!
I can't believe that this amazing song only has a little over 100,000 views and GaGahhh has millions... The human race is soon to be extinct at this rate.
Earl Slick on guitar?? After the Diamon Dogs tour Slick said if he ever saw Bowie again he'd knock him out - must have shook hands and made up like Gentlemen, well done chaps
@linclinc5 Slick played guitar for two years after the Diamond Dogs tour, he left just prior to Station to Station tour in '76 and rejoined Bowie for Lets Dance in '83 and spot duties ever since (inbetween Fripp, Gabrels and co).
Have I confused Slick with Ronno? This is all I could find...Re: Earl Slick - Strange Fascination
“There was so much chemical abuse going on that the communications kind of fell apart. Somehow David and I ended up having a falling out. I left the band early in ’76......." Which would be 2 years after DD and he re-joined for the 83 tour.
I'm still sure I've read that..I'll bop him... quote somewhere, but seems they cleared the air. Bowie post drugs minus corrosive Angie =nicer bloke
@linclinc5 The quote of chemical abuse was most def Slick. The angry at Bowie quote was (I think) a paraphrase of Stevie Ray Vaughn's anger at seeing the "Let's Dance" video.
Ronno and Bowie parted on good terms. Bowie later performed on Ronno's final album.
It's easy to mix up all the insanely good guitarits that Bowie has worked with. My favourite was Reeves Gabrels.
I particularly liked Ronno because his guitaring was so integral to the major albums. I don't really like Bowie's stuff after Low (but that still leaves me with enough to last the rest of my life) Slick's solo on the live Panic in Detroit was amazing but I still love Ronno's Moonage Daydream, tho it isn't long enough. Can't understand why Ronno didn't want or get songwriter credit on Transformer - he did himself out of alot of money. Reed's twee pop songs on the VU and Nico album....
....cont.....were ok but Transformer was another level and the standard is above anything Reed managed again. Ronno took a few words and a musical idea and worked them into entire songs, did the arranging and production and playing. Too modest to insist on composing credit thus giving it all to a spaced out drug addicted Reed...and of course the album still sells to every new generation. Perfect Day even being a no 1, Walk on the Wild Side getting many covers. Ronno died too young
love this version. i gotta cover of this great song that i do not pretend to do justice to but i'd love your opinion and not mine. much love, amor, y paz
♫♫♫♫♫♫i think i saw you in an ice cream parlour♫♫♫♫♫♫ drinking milkshake cold and long♫♫♫♫♫♫smiling and waving and looking so fine♫♫♫♫♫♫dont think you knew you were in this song♫♫♫♫♫♫
LOL you mean its improved vigorously and your just too old to get it ... =p haha jkz but i reckon gen-y's rock is way more awesome (Y) :D ...though i do appreciate the foundation of where it derived from
the gall of some people "oh i like Placebo's version better" then shouldnt that comment be better suited to that page? its a good cover, but show some respect for the thin, white duke...
it would never have been done by "PLACEBO" that some of you guys are saying you like better, if DB hadn't written it.! dont delude yourself about that
This is the openingtrack for the iggy Stardust album. I think it's the best opening of any album. So pure, so peaceful while it quite about terrible things.
These shows were really long. Almost 3 hours. We were seated right next to his buddy, Ray Davies. Bowie gave his mic to the audience wanting to know the correct pronunciation of "New Orleans" and some tourist really blew it and everybody booed. LOL Nobody sat the entire show.
Bowie is one of the few artists that has gotten better with age. Not only has he managed to reinvent himself and stay fresh, but a lot of his music is timeless. I've always liked his music, but only recently realized just how good he really is.
I haven't seen Bowie's performance more than 10 years, but this is way better than the original 1972 version, which I have been loving it since the original release. Bowie, you must have truly came from outer planet.
