What Is ZDTV?

As much as I would like TechTV back on, I don't think a tech channel would work in this day since we have the internet and podcasts where people can do the same kind of stuff much easier.

God I was born 1995 so I never had ZDTV, though when we got cable I remember watching Tech TV. I thought it was call seeing all this cool tech stuff and games. Then G4 came along and kinda taken over the tech part but it was still okay. It was still kinda alive for me when watching G4TV and still I thought it was okay(favorite cartoon was Code Monkeys) and now... I don't know what happened. Wish I could have experienced more of Tech TV because now I really want to watch it.

zdtv and it later form tech tv where awesome i remember watch the screen savers and call for help with leo man i miss leo didnt care much for chris but leo and pat where one hell of a team then that fuck dumb ass channel g4 had to come and take over yeah a video game and tech channel sound great at first but nope it sucked balls g4 needs to be killed and zdtv needs to be resurrected

Some reason why G4 can not show old reruns of the "Screen Savers" and "Call For Help" and ZDTV shows? Would love watch these old classic shows again on the air. Instead of stupid shows like Cops!

ZDtv was the best channel ever. I came only at the Techtv era. Computer stuff is so cool to me. Thank god I found this channel when I was 17 and was forever hooked. Not to mention everything back then was way better in my opinion concerning technology.

It looks like this video was designed to be streamed on a 56k modem.

@kargaroc386 maybe it was, after all, cable modems were just starting to get around, and 56K baud was pretty much the norm, back then. It could have been worse, it could have been designed to stream on 14.4 K....lol....

They ran this video for at least a couple days before the network actually started running programming. They had a bunch of these, I recall. I think I spent hours just watching the loop of videos. I had just gotten direct tv (I was 19 at the time and had only 33 channels of cable before that), so any new channel was a momentous occasion in my book.

LOVED The Screensavers, Internet Tonight, etc and who remembers the security guard guy who did interstitials between the shows?

Very fond memories of watching ZDTV back in late 90's on my father's C-BAND satellite.........."Screen Savers" was my favorite show but I also like Dvorak with his snobby personality..........Leo Laporte and Patrick Norton made PC troubleshooting fun and exciting.

@wolfcutter WE ALL WANT our ZDTV!!!! I was lucky enough to catch it on the re-feed. I miss ALL of the shows, Call for help, Internet tonight, screen savers, page view, silicon spin, the money machine and gamespot tv. It always happens that way, they get something good then they have to go and screw it up and take it off !!!!! Why can't they just leave well enough alone ?!?!?!? Maybe there is a way a petition can be drawn up for everyone that likes it to sign.

I jumped on ZDTV late 1999 and was hooked since, all I watched was Screen Savers and the videogame program on their, it seemed so pure compared to what it's chaged into now.

I can't believe Attack of the Show! is the evolution of The Screen Savers. I never missed an episode of The Screen Savers. I could care less about anything on G4 (except maybe Ninja Warrior). R.I.P ZDTV. You are surely missed.

God...looking at all these early promos brings back memories. I stumbled upon ZDTV in late 98, but it was pretty much all I watched. I especially miss shows like Internet Tonight (THE BIG LIST!) and Screen Savers. Early TechTV was pretty good, but G4 just ruined it.

It's nice to know that ZDTV exists in spirit today with most of it's alumni doing webshows.

This was the good old days of tech TV! ZD TV rocked... now all they have is crap! I watched nothing but ZD TV most all the time (even the reruns!) When they changed, I changed too.... the channel that is! But at least we have these great videos to look back and see when it was good tv.

Those were the days. Big thinkers, You Made It, Fresh Gear, all the great shows. Now its just 12 hours of Code Monkeys a day, with episode after episode of X-Play. ZDTV focused on shows and hosts who were skilled and educated in Tech; G4... well, I challenge you to find a female host on G4 that doesn't regularly pose for bikini shots. And yes, we all like boobs, but it shows a significant drop in the channels quality. That and the utter shit they play now.

Amaze yourself indeed. I remember when I first found ZDTV. I really didn't watch anything else on TV. I miss shows like Internet Tonight, Silicon Spin, and especially Call for Help. At least Leo lives on with Twit and the Lab. G4 Canada seems better though, as they at least have tech shows...

i know how you feel man. in G4s defense they had some pretty good shows before they merged with TechTV(zdtv). I still hate them for killing what they and techtv had and turning it into the garbage it is now though.

Oh God, I remember those commercial shorts with the girl in the red top and the swimmer (in the beginning of the video). I was 14 around the time those commercials aired and I had such a crush on her.
