For modern equivalents at reasonable prices (compared to trying to buy a vintage Moog) check out Synthesizers . com, Club Of The Knobs (COTK), Mos-Lab, Moon Modular, Oakley Sound (Krisp1), Corsynth, Suit And Tie Guy (STG Sound Labs), Grove Audio, MegaOhm Audio, Synthetic Sound LAbs (SSL), and more! Also Synth Tech (MOTM) and Modcan!
Check out my YouTube channel for lots of demos and Muff's Modules forum for TONS of great information!
This was great! I wish I had a slight bit of skill with either A) playing keyboard or B) electronic circuitry; because I love these old modular synths.
And that sequence was really hypnotic. Much as I'm not into techno, listening to a Moog do it makes it better.
I think that everyone interested in Moog Modulars should email Moog and try to persuade Moog to start making Moog Modulars again. If people agree with me I think the good old Moog Modular will be coming back to us rather soon!!
I hate to burst your bubble, but how many would they really sell? And how much would it have to cost to make a return on the R&D, the parts and the labor that went into it? As much as I would celebrate it, it's fantasy to imagine that they could build these things again.
For the hardcore analog fan, the answer is to build it from scratch. I could imagine a single inventor building a little cottage industry out of it, but again, it wouldn't be cheap.
Even if Moog began producing a modular it would not come close to what old aged capacitors can sound like such as the example in this video... its like a fine wine... We saw what happend with the introduction of the Moog Voyager it just never capture the original MiniMoog vibe... I know cos I own them..
@bobfree66 It's already been said, but synthesizers . com has started remaking these. I believe the modules were reverse engineered from real system 55s.
Amazing system :) , you could try to make video with direct sound from the modular , will be great to hear this beautiful synth with high quality audio :) .I've posted this video on switchedonsynthesizer.blogspot . com
