Yes, at an international scale the Baja does not compare to some other events.

Erzberg rodeo, 120 mph + on 140 hp dualsport,bikes,Les Touquet, 1200+rider mass start and 110mph average on VEEEEry sandy French beach Red Bull Knock out, Romaniacs, and Dakar?, well thats a Baja everyday,on a 400 pound bike, and just one rider, for 14 days.

Oh yeah, certainly, its an awesome race, used to read the Julie wood stripcomic's about the Baja when i was a kid, (which is a long time ago), so agree lots of history, so you take care to my friend, enjoy the racing, and maybe i'll try the Baja next year

I, have iron manned the Baja 250, the 500 and 3 man team on the 1000 on a motorcycle. and also Iron Man the Vegas to Reno on a two stroke KTM 300

What venues have you competed in? Just curious....after Dakar next year I will tell you how different they really are from experience. Not speculation. Grow some ballz.

10 years on 500 ktm two stroke, countless beachrace's in Europe, up to 1200 compettitors mass start, currently prepping a 750 twin yamaha, hopefully competing in Baja next year, for fun as an Amateur

That sounds fun, racing on the beach. As you know there are periods in Baja where you are on the beach? If you ask me, knowing you're on sand for 100 miles would be comforting knowing what's ahead. Sand. Are there trohpy trucks chasing you in these beach races?

I've been in between some just a few months ago, Honda Dakar europe Team, Mirjam Pol, some big trucks, didn't feel really comfy to tell you the truth, but i'm trying to put a team together to do the Dakar next year and Baja 500 is high on my list as well, if you're gonna be there, and i'm struggeling, i'll buy you a case of brewski, and admit to have been acting like an idiot, hows that sound?

But to answer your question, no there's no trucks in the bike class, i've done veronica's beach race in '83 '84 '85, le touquet in '92 and several others, and off course enduro nationals on open katoom's and 620's, last year in competition was back in '97, and ended in a wheelchair after severe crash, do you guys race Baja together with the trucks, and you;re planning to do the Dakar as well? its probably gonna be in Africa next year

@327nlake I would love to see Dakar return to Africa. Paris-Dakar is just not the same, its missing something, wihtout being the original Paris- Dakar style circuits. Yes, I know Argentina-Chile are challenging, but its the nostalgia, the vibe, the feel, the history of the Sahara of Africa that makes it so mystical. I would love for it to go back to its proper location.
