  • Why is their habitat being destroyed?? Isn't there any laws to protect them? Can an organization really reverse the trend??? Thanks.

  • Their habitat is being destroyed for logging and palm oil reasons. Thanks to the western world's obsession with biofuels, palm oil is becoming increasingly utilized, and tons of land in Indonesia is being cleared for palm oil plantations. Therefore, the forests where orangs live are destroyed, and when the poor orangs wander onto these new plantations, they're often killed as if they're trespassing. FYI - palm oil is also used in LOTS of foods, so check your ingredient labels before buying!

  • Sadly, the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation's Nyaru Menteng Project, featured in this video, faces closure if funds are not found. Please help-donate, become a member, adopt an orangutan.

  • Why not approach large corporations to help - many now have sustainable/green business units and may be able to help with large donations?

  • Really wonderful video of this young group of Orangutans having a great time. These are all orphans who have lost their parents. Please go to the website and do what you can to help. These guys are cute, but quickly becoming endangered.
