  • Damn!!!!!! what a great solo! i've never heard anyone quite like that. you have a very unique approach to soloing.

  • very inventive solo

  • For Damian is one of the only players who play that fastarse shit, and sound good, and it doesn't sound like pure basswank. Love it. Big fan fo sho.

  • great bass solo Damain!

  • Very Very VERY NICE!

One of the best i heard on youtube. How long you've been playin? it's amazing. Did you go to Bercklee or something?

    Keep up the good work!

PS: sorry for my english, I live in Quebec my english is not very good

  • Impressive stuff ... and great technique!!

  • hey damian i really enjoy listening to your stuff. you're really a master man. I got a question - how do you get that tone? You boost the mids?

  • Thanks! the tone is a combination of a lot of things. Partially the way I play (a lot is in the fingers) but part of it is the graphite neck on the Zon. I actually keep my eq pretty flat, because the Zon neck has a natural mid type sound. I use to have a pretty similar sound with a wooden neck, too tho. So I think it's partially rig and partially the way I play.

  • Your technical ability is unbelievable! It sounds like four different instruments. If I hadn't seen you play live I might accuse you of hiding other musicians behind stage :-)

  • Damian, sounds great! Can you comment alittle on your gear? I noticed in other photos that you have mounted a piece of wood at the end of the fretboard, is this to make popping easier?? I was acutally thinking of a smiliar idea, but between the pickups on my bass to facilitate faster fingerstyle when I'm not over the back pickup...thoughts? Who did yours? How is it mounted?

    Thanks,

    Greg

p.s. I'm really looking into the mojo's bass camp in Nov...

  • I use to always install a ramp in between my pickups. Now, since I've been getting my pickups both installed back by the bridge, I've begun not using them there anymore. On my six string, tho, I put one in between the pickup and neck. It's got a slope to it and I only use it for one technique (3 finger roll with thumb down, index up, middle up). other than that I don't use it. Once you put a ramp on your bass for the finger style stuff, it's hard to go back.

  • Continued:

Works great! I made my first ramps, but have since gotten friends with more skill than I to make them so they fit perfectly. I install them with double sided tape. Hope that helps! Thanks for the kind words, too! Very cool...

  • Nice Damian, if i was there, you would of heard me clappin for you..

  • Hey Damian, So i really dig you way to improvise, sounds like no ohter bass player i mean you got you own features.I've already understand by the sound a bit the idea you got to improvise.but i couldn't find out how to use it on bass..:)

Any way, good job man!!!!!Awesome bass playing!!!!

    Regards

  • Thanks! I'm working on it... Still a Loooooong way to go, tho...

    I appreciate that!

  • Fantastic tone and great solo Damian sir!
