Maybe some "guest heroes" can do something a little better than Clark can. So AC is better in the water (Remember after the Lois rescue, he said, "He's faster than me.") and Kara can fly but Clark can't and Impulse can do some superspeed things Clark can't. I mean, he has outrun clark, who is darn fast.
I think it's because in the last seasons he had a block on him thinking he was still human and since season 9 he knows he not human and accepts that he not so he able to do more stuff with his powers but he still has a block on him that he still thinks he can not fly that Is my opinion
Read my previous post Nothing says Clark COULDN'T run across water when he was chassing Bart he just didn't. Clark has always been limited by his fear of being more than human and holding himself back.
@THEHUMANSCORCH The DCU has actually build up it's continuity and has been may way more consistant, especially when you compare it to the Marvel U where Tony Stark is broke and canabolizing armor to make a new suit in his own title then in Avengers he is offering Marvel Boy an unlimited budget to do and make anything his mind can come up with and both are set in the exact same time.
@ranel63 Tom Welling actually stated he loved flying the few times he has in the show such as the tornado Red Clark K, Ultraman and Virtual Reality Clark, so the no wires thing makes no sense since he has stated he enjoyed it. The reason why he can't fly in real life is the show's Mission Statement and Show Bible NO TIGHTS NO FLIGHTS! Once he does either as real Clark, he is no longer Clark Kent he is Superman and the show is no longer Smallville it is Superman.
i thought he flew and they just didn't show it, i never thought about him running on water, i mean clark's fast but wouldn't he have to be moving at like the speed of light to run across an ocean, lol, i mean is super speed really fast enough to run across an ocean
@lovelydiva06 Bart allen did, and at the time he was running just a bit faster than Clark could (and that was in season 4, when clark was..... 7 years younger. Damn, this show has been on for a while!) And he definitely wasn't flying, him flying is a BIG deal and they wouldn't show it off-screen.
I was thinking the same thing at first, super-leap? swim? run? fly? then i thought whatever! pretty cool no matter what it was, hes getting closer to being Superman.
It was never stated he COULDN'T run across the water after Bart, but Clark's powers have always been hampered by his perceptions. He feared he will be too powerful and become something other than human, something other than the son Jonathan and Martha raised so he held back but this season is about him FINALLY embracing who he is destined to be and knowing he is still Clark Kent and we been seeing that in his powers like his speed and Micro Vission and finally when he flies.
Lois said that he "hopped across the pond" or something like that. Super jump from one continent to the other? lol Who knows. Yeah, should've been cool if they were more specific about it and show us a scene but that's just more money. And they don't have it to spend on stuff that aren't that much important in the episode. Unfortunately.
Clark has been Superman in everything but name and appearance since season 8 when he FINALLY became a proactive hero (with the exception of that 4 episode arc when Lana came back and he regressed) Clark has gotten faster and faster as the series progressed. Since his training with Jor-El in season 9, it's not out of the question that he Ran across the ocean. The reason I believe he didn't do it in "Run" is that he didn't think he could.
Maybe you dont know this but im sure you do, in Superman the animated series season 1 he has a race against Flash and hes running on the water..im sure of it!! Also In Smallville season 5, he runs( i think) round the world to find Milton fines ship. I have no Idea if he crossed waters but im guessing he did as theres a lot of water to cross on earth. Dont know why but I though I should point these things out. Happy to read your thoughts on this.
It's hard for me to say, seeing it on a small screen... But it wouldn't surprise me if he just swam super fast. Maybe he ran across the water, but this is one of those things I doubt is meant to be played up or scrutinized beyond a segue scene. How many times in the series has he gone across the world (and back) in seeming seconds? A few at least. So, did he swim or run? He's likely been doing so for a while. ~noirgwio
Clark could have jumped across the Atlantic Ocean, not ran at all. When jumping from England, he doesn't have to land in the New York coast, he can land in Tennessee, and run the rest of the way.
I assumed that he swam across the water and then ran around a bit to dry himself off. Despite it only being a few seconds on screen it was longer in 'reality'. That was just my interpretation, could be wrong though
Superman is fast now(comic book) he can fly at translight speeds and see where he's going(which breaks more rules than I can mention in 500 characters). Clark must have gotten faster and stronger which could be a result of prolonged sunlight exposure.ITS SUPERMAN, who knows. The guy takes baths in the sun and pulls planets his skin is strong enough to be shot at yet carrying his wife doesn't cause any discomfort.Over thinking it would simply destroy the illusion(suspending disbelief is taxing)

As he gets older he gets faster...through the seasons they have developed it so it does make sense in the Smallville continuity

Yeah I think he either jumped since he was able to jump really high (like he did into space before) or he swam really fast like he did with AC.

i think his powers fully are evolved. esp if hes going to be wearing the suit soon.

The only reason Clark can't fly is because Tom Welling doesn't want to be hanged on wires. Even the producers can't find a decent reason for that.
For the water thing, I think he swam, then with the super speed, his clothes dried up once he reached land.

why wouldn't he be able to? at such high speeds water would be totally solid.
we saw the flash doing that so why can't Clark if he can run at near the speed of light
