Its fair to say, for example, that all death metal is toung and cheek on the matter of gore but a gospel band would be seen as a gimmick by most people. Christian BM!ok they can do what they want but my point about genre and the values of their influences still holds up.
this is something that people who bash the christian themed black metal fail to understand. Christian black metal in most cases is not a sappy gospel story. It deals with real life struggles, spiritual war and darker themes. At the same time there are plenty of songs about Jesus.
I don't have a problem with the fact that it sounds the way that it does, nor do I have a problem with the makeup and clothing... however, it appears the lyrics are somewhat theologically bankrupt.
Perhaps I'm misunderstanding something... but I just found this band, and as I search out their songs, I'm beginning to ask one question: where are the songs about salvation?
there is more to the Human and christian condition than salvation to make a comment on. We live deep lives with many joys and struggles and focusing on one (admitantly important) aspect of that isn't required.
Through sharing sin and testimony we can grow in fellowship. Praise God that these guys are making music in his name against the heavy opposition. this takes faith and guts.

Someone from a Deicide video told me to check these guys out, and I have to say if I were to listen to any "raw" Black Metal, these guys do it for me. It might be the fact its not all bundled together and actually sounds thought out.
I wouldn't inherently say so. Black Metal is (along with other extreme metal genres) as culturally and musically diverse as any other music genre on the planet. Medieval and tritones are certainly not limited exclusively to BM, particularly the early Norwegian BM scene to say the least.
LOL I don't much care for Death Metal at all, but this is so funny... I didn't know Frost Like Ashes was that popular, but I have known Harold Mills since I was born, I call him uncle Harold lol. Great song; this band is very talented. I think highly of the technical drumming as well, along with the rest of the instrumentation. The screams were something that I appreciated too.

FLA is one of my favorite Metal bands... PERIOD! in the secular and christian music world... and that's all there is to it. they are extremely talented and there is a SPECIFIC reason why they wear the facepaint... just ask them they'll tell you... i know that sebat is a freakin' awesome dude i used to talk to him regularly via the internet.... i was going to book them at a show at my church but the pastor wouldn't allow it because of the contreversy of their live performance which is sick nasty!
the purpose of corpsepaint is to make oneself look something akin to a demon-possessed corpse. It is supposed to be more affiliated with the satanic styles of the original black metal bands. Though it has been paired with the entire genre rather than its satanic origins. The irony is the fact that a Christian group would try to simulate an evil corpse.

music is good but knowing the intent and faith behind it sweetens the taste in a negative sense...the origins of corpse paint in BM was to scare of your enemies in the style of the vikings who murdered and raped christians...sort it out boys and get the paint off it is too paradoxical and makes you look rather stupid and not threatening or menacing. If you think there is a place for genre, think about the life values of the forefathers of BM. they would exile these guys

@roystonito yeah but anyone who thinks they look frightening is corpse paint at all is an idiot. Besides, the idea of painting ones face to scare enemys is by no means exclusive to BM, or pagan culture. The intent here is to turn something that was used as a symbol and turn it around on the oppressors, if anything, christian BM bands have more of a right to wear it than pagan ones.

fair enough mate but at the end of the day you know what i mean and dont deny it. If there were a gospel choir singing about gore and rape you would not take them seriously. Its fair to say, for example, that all death metal is toung and cheek on the matter of gore but a gospel band would be seen as a gimmick by most people. Christian BM!ok they can do what they want but my point about genre and the values of their influences still holds up.

this is something that people who bash the christian themed black metal fail to understand. Christian black metal in most cases is not a sappy gospel story. It deals with real life struggles, spiritual war and darker themes. At the same time there are plenty of songs about Jesus.

I don't have a problem with the fact that it sounds the way that it does, nor do I have a problem with the makeup and clothing... however, it appears the lyrics are somewhat theologically bankrupt.
Perhaps I'm misunderstanding something... but I just found this band, and as I search out their songs, I'm beginning to ask one question: where are the songs about salvation?

there is more to the Human and christian condition than salvation to make a comment on. We live deep lives with many joys and struggles and focusing on one (admitantly important) aspect of that isn't required.
Through sharing sin and testimony we can grow in fellowship. Praise God that these guys are making music in his name against the heavy opposition. this takes faith and guts.

@satanshalldie Umm actually the lyrical base does matter. Satan is part an enormous party of black metal if you havent noticed. Sure there are nm bands that dont all sing about black metal but they dont sing about christianity either. Bottom line is that christianity just cant mix with bm, unless its being assault and beaten. Btw I actually gave these guys a chance and they truly do suck. Thanks for the CoF vocals roflll

But nontheless, I have to agree. Whether you like a band or not shouldn't be based on the influences of the band (in this case, god).
Someone from a Deicide video told me to check these guys out, and I have to say if I were to listen to any "raw" Black Metal, these guys do it for me. It might be the fact its not all bundled together and actually sounds thought out.

I wouldn't inherently say so. Black Metal is (along with other extreme metal genres) as culturally and musically diverse as any other music genre on the planet. Medieval and tritones are certainly not limited exclusively to BM, particularly the early Norwegian BM scene to say the least.

Yeah... sometimes we should do like those open-minded atheists, say "the music". I have their Firefrost Arcanum, and have no problem listening to it ^^ Anyway, if you look into the lyrics, not all are explicitly antichristian(if there are, I don't know many of them).

FLA is one of my favorite Metal bands... PERIOD! in the secular and christian music world... and that's all there is to it. they are extremely talented and there is a SPECIFIC reason why they wear the facepaint... just ask them they'll tell you... i know that sebat is a freakin' awesome dude i used to talk to him regularly via the internet.... i was going to book them at a show at my church but the pastor wouldn't allow it because of the contreversy of their live performance which is sick nasty!

the purpose of corpsepaint is to make oneself look something akin to a demon-possessed corpse. It is supposed to be more affiliated with the satanic styles of the original black metal bands. Though it has been paired with the entire genre rather than its satanic origins. The irony is the fact that a Christian group would try to simulate an evil corpse.
