This show got me into sketching, and I never looked back. If I look through the gigantic binder I keep all my old drawings in, Im sure Ill find more than a few of the pieces Mr. Kistler demo'd on the show. Thank you for everything, Mark!
used to watch this show on PBS when i was little, couldn't miss a show. Glad to see your drawing and still inspiring children. keep the good work. your number one fan
I'll never forget when I got to meet commander Mark at an art show that one of my drawings was entered in. That was when I was in elementary school, and im 26 now. My brothers were so jealous when they heard I met commander Mark, and got his autograph! Glad to see you are still inspiring. You gave me memories I'll never forget!
Ah! I grew up in art class watching you Mark ... one class a week our art teacher would put one of your videos in. You even came to our school once! It really helped grow my interest in art! that was forever and a day ago, glad to see you're still doing it!
I loved this guy when I was a kid. I'm glad he's still around. Besides the satisfaction of being an artist, I'm sure he's happy to see a generation grow up that remembers him and the time he put into the program.
wow i was at school and me and my friend were talking about imagination station and how awesome it was. Thank you for advancing and generally making my drawing better for many years
I'm glad to see you are still drawing and teaching Mark. I started watching your show back then and you inspired me immensely! I was one of your club Members too! I am now an art teacher and still drawing! - Luke
Mark, you helped me to grow into the person I am today. Without you I would not be as creative or imaginative as I am. Thank you so much for helping people unlock their artistic abilities. You have such an amazing knack to pull people in and mold them.
This is sweet. I'm 22 and used to watch the Imagination Station as a kid. I might be tempted to watch this new one too. Mark is awesome. What happened to the old shows like this?? Screw Dora the Explorer! I want my Imagination Staaaaaaaaaaaation!
Its so good to hear your voice again, Imagination Station was a major foundation in my artistic abilities! Drawing with your personality and humor made it fun and not just work. I cannot thank you enough, sir.
I can't believe he is back! That's so awesome! I know this has been said by others many times but his old show as commander Mark got me so into drawing that I even copied him and begged my mom to bring home a huge white sheet of paper from work. I pinned it across my wall in my room then everyday eagerly awaited for the show to come on so that I could draw along in my own secret city. lol Now I'm 31 doing art with my 8yrs old niece and showing her the episodes. I can't seem to find a DVD.
i used to watch the IMAGINATION STATION from 96 when i was younger. still have my old sketch pad! everyday! used to love it! :D i still draw all my Suns his way
OH! I adore Mark Kistler! I grew up with Imagination Station! I watched everyday... Always drawing along... And I'm still drawing! ;D I'm so glad you came back, Mark! I hope you continue to inspire many children (and even adults!) the way I was inspired. I always smiled and felt so good while watching... You encourage creativity and to reach for your dreams... Thanks SO much for being a big influence in my art and my life! :)
I was thinking of the Secret City yesterday while drawing a birthday banner for my son. I used to watch it with my children when they were young, and I enjoyed it as much as they did. My youngest is now 21.
What a spectacular service, particularly in a time of declining support for art in public schools. I'm glad he's still a little nuts. I could watch him teach anything all day.
you are an excellent teacher! My mom being an artist, always encouraged my brother and I to be artistic.. The Secret City was always must-see TV..and we would sit and draw draw draw! It makes me happy to learn that you have been and still are inspiring others all these years!
I just wanted to thank you for being such a huge part of my childhood and having such a positive influence on me. You really sparked my creativity. Secret City was far and away my favorite TV show, and the mural just blew me away. I am so glad to see that you're still at it, teaching people to draw!
You taught me how to draw flags, banners and scrolls and i learned perspective from you and so much more! now i'm a graphic designer still having art attaaaaaaaaaaaaaacks!!!!!!!!!!
Mark! Mr. Kistler! You changed my life as Commander Mark! I'm a visual effects artist for film and television now and it all started with The Secret City! I'm so glad you're still at it! Thank you so much for everything!

haha, Huge nostalgia attack here. I'm a college art student now and, I remember my brother and I as giddy six year olds watching this show very excitedly. We would follow every move and save up tons of scrap paper and old pencils just to draw. Thanks for the memories and lessons, Mr Kistler!
Hey Mister Mark, Great video and welcome back to PBS. I'm sure AJ has his sketch pad out ready to draw.. draw.. draw. Sorry we missed you this year, we were out of town. We will make sure that we don't miss you next year. Oh, and by the way thanks for the air time...
Wow, Commander Mark, so glad to see you back! I've got a pile of homeschool kids that are going to be thrilled to hear that you're on the air! (Nothing wrong with becoming "more abundant" with age... most of us do!) Thanks for all the joy you share.
I'm so glad this is having another go on public tv. I was obsessed with this show as a kid. When that Imagination Station song came on, I ran around the house in a panic trying to find a sharpened pencil and paper in time. I was all about those motion lines. "ART ATTACK!" Art education is fading in public schools. keep it going on public tv!
I just decided that I wanted to figure out the name of that show I watched way back when, with the funny guy who drew awesome pictures.... but all I could remember about it was that he would put his pencil on his head. So I looked up "Pencils on your heads!" in Google and found your name. Then, I found this video.... and it's the funniest thing that YOU'RE COMING BACK! Thank you for inspiring me when I was younger! I still have art work that I did while I watched your show. ^_^
man, I remember watching the 96 Imagination Station back when I was a kid. It helped me a lot back then, and I impressed the other kids at school. I do remember two things I didn't like about show back then. Back then, I wanted my pictures to be "more adult" and it annoyed me when we drew a T-Rex, and Mark would put it in a racecar and add a goofy hat (I was 10, so you can't blame me for trying to act older). But the other complaint, you can't rewind TV. So I had to try hard to keep up.
Fantastic! So glad to see "Captain Mark" still teaching the skills that changed art for my brother and I. I still use his methods to doodle during meetings. My brother is a graphic designer now, and Draw Squad was where he really got his love of the craft.
Mark Kistler was my childhood hero. I'm SOOOO glad to see he's still teaching kids how to draw. I'm 26 now, and although I'm an actor by trade, I still draw on a regular basis, and have even begun a small graphic design side project. Mark Kistler, Secret City, and the Draw Squad not only taught me how to draw, they helped me to realize my artistic potential, and shape who I am today. Thanks Mark! You're a great man!
YEAH!! I can't wait! I take your drawing class with my brother pretty much every year for the past several years (whenever you come to Milwaukee)- can't wait to watch your show again!! =D
you were my biggest influence when it came to drawing when i was a kid...now I am 23 and I can't wait to watch the all new re-vamped version of your classic show. all i gotta say is ".....ARTT ATTACK!!!"
yay mark i used to watch the imagination station everyday after school in the 3rd grade im 21 now i still love to draw and i will definitely tune in this fall and draw with you again =]

My 4th or 5th grade art teacher would play episodes of this show every once in a while. They were truly the high points of that class.

Oh man, Imagination Station. This was my childhood! Loved this show~
I specifically remember first learning how to draw 3D stuff from him. xD
I don't draw anymore (I'm more of a writer now.), but this really brought me a lot of joy when I was young.

I LOVE MARK! I'm glad he put on the pounds... it makes him seem even more jollier.
I don't want to hear any "He looks like what would happen if Wilford Brimley ate Bob Ross" jokes either. ;)
