lol, the countries falling apart, and everyone thinks its wonderfull that a group of old weirdos waste £4m building an outdated, environment killing peice of crap like this! And that all OK with the powers that be, never mind those 'yobs' of the younger generation, they can all die in the smog produced by our toy... I'd laugh so much if the bloody kettle blew up in front of these wasters, one did in Paraguay a few years ago, and that was meant to be 'superiour british engineering'!
A living, breathing, wonderful piece of engineering.
And I'd love to see it for real-ride on it too.
As a kid, I remember them in Addlestone, in surrey. We'd stand on the bridge as they went under in the early sixties. That smell of coal and the noise was beautiful.
You are the ONLY ONE on youtube who likes to piss people off. I think you should stop commenting videos and GET A LIFE.
this has nothing to do whit progressive thinking, this is keeping good memories ALIVE. NO ONE is able to stand beside a steam locomotive, whitout getting impressed. and you can't scrap all steam locomotives, they are a part of history and there will always be people to maintain and preserve the BEAUTIFUL engines.
Just when the world is moving ahead progressively, the British Railway brings us the steam locomotive! This is progressive thinking?
This clunker will not be long for this world! It will be off to the scrap yard where it will get the reward it so richly deserves at the end of a scrappers torch.
Hahhh...with all the global warming, global cooling, climate change hoaxes perpetrated on America, it would never be profitable....really a shame, 500 years worth of coal and you can't burn any of it,,,,,
Just found this by chance from Google. I was on this train and have some vids on YouTube too. The lighting on this shot is wonderful, it was a lovely winter's morning.
Yes you're quite right about the comments being removed by the author. My appologies I hold my hands up and admit I'm wrong. That'll teach me to check things out before I get my typing finger working.
Wow, I love the lighting, I was on it, in carriage C, I think I was hanging out of the window at that time trying to capture the sunrise through the steam. Might have succeeded but not entirely sure.
open all stations- wow your by far the most cool and interesting person to be found on the internet, keep it up. i only wish you could reply to all my off the cuff remarks
excellent video of StTEAM power produced by the loco. It seems that calypsotwenty/chick6517 have no idea what they are talking about. Perhaps they should sell their cars, stop travelling by air and forget about using buses... ..Get off your hypocritical Orange Box!!!
The planet's been here 4.5 billion years. The Sun's got about another 4.5 billion years to go so all in all I reckon that 20 years off 9 Billion is a price well worth paying.
i know nothing about trains or care to but this is a beautiful bit of cinematography. And the train looks wonderful against the winter and then sun backdrop

Excellent Shot,
Loco is obviously in its element there, travelling at speed and still the valves have lifted.

Is this the steam engine that was built from scratch? If so can we commision them to rebuild a Milwaukee Road F7 Hiwatha Hudson :)

Reply to calypsotwenty:
a German company has been experimenting with steam-driven
cars capable of burning Hydrogen. Super-heated steam is highly expansive
and produces better traction. What we don't need is ignorance.

Amazing shot ! But shame so much changing of mind and zooming in and out - it could have been one of the best shots of all time otherwise
