Just to put the record straight on Raining In my heart by Raw Holly.
Freddie Packham was executive producer of this record made in 1969/70 at his studios in Denmark Street, London.
Part of the thirty two piece orchestra were three members of a group called the New York Public Library. The orchestra was conducted by Mike Batt, of the Wombles, with the Melachrino Strings.
As an ardent Buddy Holly fan whilst I think this version is good I I have to say that I prefer Buddy's version, but I believe each to his own and can go along with those that prefer this version. I actually have the Maxi Single record and it is credited to Raw Holly the listing is Rock Me My Baby, although this track is actually Midnight Shift, not Fade Away and the flip is A side Raining In My Heart
The group is called New York Public Library (NYPL) Mickey Most, the bands producer at the time, chose that name in 1966, replacing the old name The Cherokees,
One of very few that are better than the original. I remember my Dad having this and I just to listen to it when I was little. I have tried to get the vinyl but with no success. Nice to hear it again.
Bought this on vinyl when it originally came out and have digitised it and put in on my ipod. Always thought this was terrific and still do. Most definitely better than the original. This recording actually makes it a completely different song - so much feeling in it. Thanks for posting.
The group is called "Raw Holly" not NYPLUK. Released in USA and Germany, group had a different name and album of Holly covers released without groups' knowledge

Lead singers were Brian Parish, with Sue and Sonny of the Brotherhood of Man.
Brian Parish, the singer, declined performing the record on Top of the Pops. A big mistake.

@runfatboy75 I'm so sorry to have to say this but for you to say that this is better than Buddy Holly's original recording is simply absurd.
