I thought I could watch an interesting video about a Gunam series I love without people telling me I suck for daring to like Gundam Wing or some other Gundam series with another year other than UC at the end.
But of course not.
Gundam fans have to ruin everything for everyone else.
Agreed. GW is my favorite series but I really enjoyed V after finishing it for the first time several weeks ago. This scene was one of the best in the series and I wanted to watch it on YouTube. I click on it and the first comment is another UC-elitist spouting more bullshit.
hahaha i LOVE victory Gundam. but i'm seriously so tired of people saying oh Gudnam Wing sucks and Gundam Seed sucks and Destiny sucks blah blah blah. Sheesh I hear more about that than anything else. Why can't people just ENJOY all of Gundam for what it is? Every Gundam series is different. Zeta and Victory are some of the greatest EVER, but people shouldn't be so quick to be happy about a great man being in a deep depression.try to enjoy the alternative universes too!
@frozenray0079 I think ZG and VG are the greatest too! UC is just as good of course! Their keys to success are simple -- characters and good plot! It's hard to focus when there're 3+ gundams for the main casts (in God and after). I like SEED's and 00's story. Even Destiny have good machines but crap story, it's still better than G-Saviour... I hope they will write a post-VG new series to override that G-Saviour shit...
@stormmeansnowork I agree, Destiny could have been absolutely incredible. The first half is a total tribute to Z Gundam the same way the original SEED was a tribute to 0079...then it sorta goes to crap lol. i would love to see another UC television series, as VG is as of yet the final depiction of the universal century world. thats kinda why i'm realy enjoying Unicorn right now, even though it has a million references to Z and ZZ only. I hardly consider that G-Savior nonsense canon haha
@frozenray0079 UC has elements from 0083, CCA and F91 (the Loto) too. Even there's no post-VG UC-story, OVAs for SG and CB (till its Steel-7 ending) is still welcomed. It's mysterious why some ppl cant see new ideas come from the alternate universes - despite some of those series' own short comings. Even I dislike aliens in Gundam, ELS does have its worth, but I hope AGE won't surprise us too much...
@stormmeansnowork AGE is gonna rock. The 00 Movie, with its ELS plot, proved to the global Gundam fanbase that Gundam can get away with doing ANYthing it wants. Even a story involving aliens :) which is funny cuz the 00 series went from being super-realistic in season 1 to 0079-realistic what with its Innovator plot...then the movie just went totally unrealistic. and still incredible. So AGE will probably follow that trend just and surprise its audience. Hopefully not TOO much, like you said.
@frozenray0079 When you say that, I recalled Sunrise told us back in 2000 they will a big surprise in Turn A -- and they did... Sigh, the only thing I still cant get over with is -- Gundam's collective end is set by the most anti-Gundam design which I can't take even today. It would be perfect if the Moustached Gundam was replaced by Strike Freedom / Destiny... but put that aside, from what I learnt about TA (I didnt watch it), it's still a good series
@stormmeansnowork i've seen some of Turn A, and i think it's incredible. It's really funny because they have some classical designs from 0079, and then they have suits like Turn A which are completely nontraditional. but they make it work for sure and it makes a Gundam fan appreciate a show like Gundam SEED even more how it returns to the classic machine design and plot. Turn A was very weird. But more than that, very original, and that's always a plus for me.
@frozenray0079 The key thing is to see new ideas. Anti-gundam ideas'd be spilled out n good ones will (hopefully) b improved. SEED carries its own story and ideas (PS amour, aegis' transformation, Sword-Strike's sword, rivals turned friends, the BuCUE etc). SEED era could be better exploited if beam shields n n-jammer cancellers took more than 2 CE years to materialise (took 40 UC years to see beam shield). SEED's over-commercialised.. at least we got good dialogues in UC than just a Beam Magnum
bravo bravo perfect song for a great series to thos the tought the this was the darkess part of the gundam series should burn in hell sorry that is jhust me but i love this song and none the less the machines are awesome no like the seed or gundam wing in here they put what really happen in wars ^^.
Wing was much better, at least it didn't have ghosts running around everywhere telling people what to do, it didn't have naked kids running around, and no bug-eyed robots riding funny unicycles. Wing was Gundam at its best.
Without a doubt one of the best orchestrated events in Gundam. So utterly sacrificial and badass; it allowed Uso to do what he needed to do. I'll always remember this scene as one that I cried during, and still find myself doing so.
This scene always pulled at my heartstrings. The song combined with such a heroic (if crazy) action actually made me cry when I first saw it.
FINALLY, we got the previous generation doing everything they can to save the new generation and not sacrificing them meaninglessly. But it was also great to see that, despite all the damage they already sustained and taking MORE each second, they still succeeded. Jeanne D'Arc doing the same in the very next episode.
I do admit, despite that was suicidal AND crazy (admit it, it is crazy), you got to admit they did a good job, and I liked the idea of a broken mobile suit as a turret
One does not need to be young handsome gifted newtype pilot of freaking powerful super robot to be a hero! As long as one fight with courage and for the bigger good, he is hero!
Somehow, that guy's smile, pretentious speech, and the lack of really sad music make this scene a whole lot less sad than it should be. No offense, but the deaths of Kyouji and Master Asia made me feel more like crying than this did.
I've read various Japanese websites that have persuaded me to think that the Zanscare Empire is a rip-off of 18th Century France during the revolution. Many of the characters have French names and there's this annoyingly pervasive symbolism revolving around the guillotine. The are more gruesome ways to kill people, look at the f***ing Nazis!
To examine the scene carefully, Jim actually went out on his seat beside Capt. Mubarak. What went on my mind is that Jim controlled the ship in Ep 51 to ram Jeanne D'Arc towards the Dugen Fleet. Though it is arguable whether Jim died or somewhat missing.
Most likely to a sub-bridge or something, which are usually hidden underneath the main bridge and deeper in the interior of the ship, making much more protected.
Also, in terms of the 18th Century France thing, that is true. In fact, the Jeanne D'Arc's kamikaze attack in episode 51 is also symbolic in that it parallel's her own fighting against the royal family while she gets labelled a heretic and witch and such and ends up dying for those beliefs while also inflicting a blow to the family.
@Endresonix: There were pretty much useless by V, and the REAL Gym Genehan (Uso's Dad) was spending a good amount of time trying to get there support, which really doesn't pull through untill towards the end.
Your name implies that you hate the Earth Federation. But, considering the timeline, the Earth Federation Forces had suffered severe stagnation in its forces that space colonies take over to control the Earth. If you are messing that they are incompetent, look through the hearts of those men in Reinforce Jr. and Jeanne D'Arc. Though stagnated, they resolve not to end the war but to protect the earth.
@starcrosser09: Actually, my name is rather misleading, as I like the Feddies as well as Zeon. The sacrifices made by the Reinforce Jr. and the Jeanne D'Arc were indeed heroic, but the Federation as a whole just wasn't what it used to be.
have anyone cried after watching this episode and anime? i have and i dont cry watching too many animes. this is one of the best gundam series. the original isnt that sad.
Wing was much better, at least it didn't have ghosts running around everywhere telling people what to do, it didn't have naked kids running around, and no bug-eyed robots riding funny unicycles. Wing was Gundam at its best.
i agree with you...gundam w is the best gundam because they didn't relay on newtype powers(because this is unfair at all)...there are born to be a finest pilot...not the strenght of machine...even how strong the machine it will not effective if pilots are noobies
Instead of Newtype h4x they have plot armor and undefeatable machines. For all of th craziness Newtype powers give, the Gundams in UC series aren't made out of a magical indestructable alloy, and the grunts can actually do some damage.
Wing was alright (much better than SEED) but it doesn't come close to most UC series, and the awesomeness of TAAAAAAAAAHN AAAAAAAAAAAA
Even with Newtypes, it's not like they were completely invincible either. They definitely had an advantage over normal pilots, but they were still able to be defeated or overwhelmed and such. One of the best examples I can immediately think of being how Yazan Gable was able to give even Kamille and Char a run for their money in Zeta.
@Scentless V and ZZ where shit, the original Gundam is acutually pretty bad to, people only say it's good for the fact it is the starting point and nostalgia despite the fact most never watched it before Wing. And yes the suit is still mad of of Magically Indestrucable alloy, they don't blow up till either the end of series or in this case have enough spare parts to make any damage pointless. Look at the stupid Bikini assualt on the V2 the damage is entirely minor despite appearence

Well, you have to take into account that two large battleships blowing up in such a closely bunched up fleet can cause quite some damage.
