I know this problem. just a mobo failure. download coretemp in windows and check your REAL temps. if it was 103C it would me melting but it dont so.. FAKE. and touch the heatsink with you fingers. if it's extremely HOT then it's 103C but if it's a little warm then it's a big FAKE/FAILURE of the mobo.
I have Intel Atom on mini-notebook ASUS EEE PC 900HA, and i have temperature 45-55°C and 60-65°C in the max load

gosh ... there are some processor on which maximal functioning temp is 100 C but they run fine even at 120C
Ex.My proc. recomended maximum temp is 79 , and I saw it once at 87C ... nothing happened.
And im thinking on putting in a fan xD

dude i have a p4 northwood exactly the same frequency as yours (2,66Ghz ) and i changed the thermal paste once
and i have in idle: 25-32 C
and in full load : around 45-48 C
emilianus12 2 years ago
btw i made a mistake its 2.80 ghz and not 2.66ghz ...

change the thermal paste , and if it still doesn't work replace the cpu cooler.
emilianus12 2 years ago
the thermo paste is burned out xD so it isnt anymore but its an old pc
licrizz 2 years ago
@licrizz unscrew the heatsink, open the processor's holder plate, remove it, clean and apply new thermal paste. then put it all back together
Dark0Lord7 2 years ago
rofl, clean it up until you reach the metal area:))) and apply a new one:))))=
You overclocked it?:))
