My son got bitten by a Dog in the early 90's when he was 4 years of age.
While the dog had lock jaw on my son, I had a few options....
1. Stick you're finger up the dogs ass (Not my sons ass)
2. Squeeze "The Dogs Bollocks"
3. Breack it's legs ( Again not the dogs legs, my sons)
4. Screem in the dogs face and ears!
I just happend to have my 6 pack of eggs from walking home form "Lo Cost" (Now know as "Co Op") and I threw eggs at it and the3 dog decided to eat them off the floor.
Hi Frank. Yes, that is a sad tale. The woman's manner implies shame, or embarrassment for her dog's natural behavior. I have seen parents react in a similar manner after their child behaves "badly" (naturally?). Perhaps the most embarrassing moments for me in my life were when I was "caught" being entirley human.
That's too bad she won't speak to you. Especially after you were so nice about the whole thing. Mabey she's embarassed? Mabey she thinks the dog will try and bite again and she's worried. Still, she is making the whole thing worse when it doesn't have to be this way. You could aproach her to let her know how you feel and this could help break the ice. Hope it works out.
There's no way I would put my hand through the letterboxes of some of the houses I leave milk at. I'd get probably get my whole arm pulled through and shredded!
No, they've given up trying to peck bottle tops now, as a lot of women have asked me to put egg cups and things on top of the bottles, as they tell me they have been having tit trouble!
That is sad that the woman won't speak with you. Perhaps she is afraid that her dog might bite again and is in fear that if it were reported, she'd lose her doggie friend. It's a shame really, since you apparently have a level head about the whole thing.
She's probably afraid he will bite you again and then you WILL report it, I guess. Have you tried crossing the street over to her and saying hello?
We had a terror-terrier in our street in Sydney, Australia. It was fine, but got hit by a car, and the owners wouldn't keep it on a leash. It bit a few people - including my then 4-year-old brother and our neighbour. Hmmm - might tell that story some time.
That is sad...especially as you were so nice to her about it. She must have felt really embarrassed, but by doing this I think she has made it worse for herself.
i agree with you about letting it go...not making a fuss...whether it's wild or domestic, it's still an animal after all and we forget that when we impose our human traits on them...

I like the way you tell stories. Your voice is really calming and you're quite descriptive.

Thanks Anhinga, I've tried approaching her, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. I have given up now.

I don't mind her not speaking so much, I can understand her concerns, but a smile wouldn't go amiss.

Dogs bite, budgies peck, horses kick. Heck, what do we expect. I can think of a number of humans I would like to do all three of those to!
