A good translation isn't word by word guys...just because the word captioned isn't the direct translation of what he said doesn't mean the meaning is changed...If you knew more than what you learned in your classes you'd know that

By the way, krunkonline, "damned ringer of bells" isn't false. It depends if it's the ringer or the bells that are damned. Could be both but I'd rather choose "damned ringer", it makes more sense.

i am french and the translation isnt bad at all!! anyone that has learned another language knows that you cannot translate word for word.. you are supposed to translate the mood and the atmosphere as well. i have learned english and i know if you translated something word for word it wouldnt make damn sense....the grammar and the way to dispose the words are totally different. can everyone just stop criticizing please??

What a hypocrite and monster Frollo is. He has Quasimodo go to kidnap Esmeralda for him, because he's a coward and is seen as "a man of God" who shouldn't do such things. Quasimodo should never have been punished, if at all, and especially not in that extreme (which in the novel, involved him being whipped and set on for public display as he bled from his wounds for an hour).

when asking for a drink you can leave it at a boire (boire means drink) or be more specific and ask "est-ce que je peux a boire de l'eau" (l'eau means water) or you could ask for milk (lait) or beer (biere)...you get the idea.

Aww, such a touching scene, but it even more so in the novel because they actually beat poor Quasimodo with whips and stuff like that. But I am glad they dind't include this kind of violence in the musical, 'cause I wouldn't be able to bear seeing Garou being beaten up, even in the role of Quasimodo...he already sounds like he's about to cry (which is exactly how Quasi should react to all this), which makes my heart break in pieces.
