Is he for real? I mean, I really like his music but...Attenborough is saying animals should be kept in cages? What? Sorry to those who idolise him, I'm not saying you're wrong, I just thought he seemed a bit too arrogant. Confidence is one thing but...too far. Anyone else find that?
No, it doesn't make much sense. But at least he calmly said a few disparaging words about the most popular person in Britain. You know he'll say whatever he thinks.
He's very intense - nice looking man but maybe a little effiminate which is refreshing in a way. Is he gay or what - does ANYBODY know, not that it matters.
it's not really fair to say he thinks a lot of himself, whenever he's interviewed he's asked why he's so great, and, of course, that's a pretty hard question to answer without sounding self-important or conceited.
i just went to a concert of his last night, and he was fantastic, and hilarious. all i want to do now is go see him again. if only....
Morrissey was ok but every single song he sang sounded excatly like the last song he sang, just with different words, so he would use the same excat tone over and over and over, so he got boring.
Don't agree that every Mozza song sounds the same, as well as not having a 'a stitch to wear', he NEVER wrote a note of his songs, only the rather dubious 'lyrics', unlike Paul McCartney, who he takes a 'sideswipe' at in this interview.
McCartney's 'recent' output is abit dodgy to say the least, but he is also vegetarian, without 'ramming it in people's faces.
Morrissey, on the other hand, is one of the most ungratious people on this planet.
As a woman, it's a bit insulting to hear the interviewer say that he thinks guys like Moz because they can relate to his "anguished young man in love" lyrics, and the girls because they fancy him. Yeah, why would women bother to relate to basic human feelings when they can swoon over Morrissey's hair...
Don't you know? Women are soulless and stupid, DUHHHH! And men NEVER fancy other men, EVER. God knows androgyny and homoerotic elements weren't an important part of Morrissey's career.
I can see your point 'AlexandriaM'. I think the, admittedly snivelly interviewer is alluding to the fact that that many male listener/fans feel some kind of 'homo-erotic' connection with Morrissey, without actually saying it. Interesting. I wonder what this interviewer feels.
Morrissey's funny he is taking the piss out of this whole thing but still droping the odd truth in he's very good at what he does plus his music is brilliant! He should have won but hey when attenborough dies Moz wins!
He's stated many times that he is not a racist. He is also one of the most intelligent musicians alive today.
And if you look at the results you will see that he came 2nd and BEAT fellow musician Paul McCartney therefore he has been voted Britain's No. 1 MUSICAL icon by the British people. So it looks like a large majority of people will agree that he IS a legend.
When you have something intelligent to say, then make a post, don't waste web space with ill-informed crap.
Just to point out, just because someone says they aren't racist doesn't mean it's true...he's hardly likely to say "yeah I am actually racist"...doesn't quite work like that
You're right, he can't possibly be an 'icon', not whilst there's amazingly intelligent people such as you to point out that fact on YouTube. well done for wasting your life and proving this is what you do with your day.
Don't mention it 'brainseyboy'. Actually it only took a minute 2 post the message, which I've why I've taken the trouble to 'waste' another minute of my life repeating the question you thus far haven't answered;
How can Morrissey be a musical icon when he doesn't even write the music?
wow, sarcastic wordplay, congratulations, how long did it take you to think of that? im thinking quite a while as you obviously dont have much brain power shown in the fact you cant see how morrisey can be a musical icon. the man is a lyrical genius, and im sure had some influence over the music he sang to seeming as he was in the same band that wrote it...
Fair enough. I would still suggest he that this interview gives further evidence that he is one of the most ungracious men on the planet though, but whatever tickles your fancy.
2. If Morrissey is stupid, we would have monkeys working on your local Lidl checkouts by now.
3. You must be a devoted reader of the NME to think Morrissey is truly racist. That's enough for me to know you must be one of these Monkeys that works on a Lidl checkout, probably somewhere crap like Didcot or Blackpool.
He probaly mentions George Best because (regardless of the occasional hammers paraphenalia) he supported man utd as a youth, and sometimes told the story of his red and white bobble hat being stolen off his head after a match...
George Best was a shy superstar and a beautifully charming man. He was very prominent in Manchester when Moz was a young fella. Of course Morrissey should love him.
Im a person who considers music as an very integral part of my life,I would say my biggest musical influences as far as memories of love, situations, good and bad times, growing pains and many etc's are from peoples like The Beatles,Elton John,John Lennon, its nice though that i can also say groups like Nirvana, the sex pistols and my beloved Morrissey are equally as important and effective on my life as the Status Quo "Classic Music Makers" of our (My) modern musical era
Is he for real? I mean, I really like his music but...Attenborough is saying animals should be kept in cages? What? Sorry to those who idolise him, I'm not saying you're wrong, I just thought he seemed a bit too arrogant. Confidence is one thing but...too far. Anyone else find that?

Danny Robbins must be the WORST interviewer in the world. I'm embarrassed for Morrissey to have to sit through this insipid interview and be polite.

He's so shy, and modest. You don't get that with alot of artists, infact, with none.
"Morrissey, it's great to meet you."
"Why?"
Others would say..
"Madonna, it's great to meet you!"
"Aww, why thank yoooouu!"
