how difficult do you suppose it wouild be to manage my time between being a pharmacy student and also playing division one basketball? Do you think it would be possible to do both and still maintain a social life and get a sufficient amount of sleep?! hahaha
I'm a junior in highschool. I'm great at math but science is a bit more difficult. I dual-enroll at college and I took General Biology and it was so easy compared to my high school course. My final grade was a high B and I only studied right before class. I wan't to go into pharmacy, but I don't know how hard it will be. Also I would only be able to go to a pharmacy school in Florida and was looking into FSU.
@johnatv1995 Wan't? Work on the english :)... I am also going to persue the pharmacy ways. I took honors biology, honors chem and AP Physics, I hope i'll do well in two years.
@BronzeApples Sorry I wrote that pretty fast. I'm going to take English comp I & II next year at the college. Also I'm going to take general chemistry at the college. I've taken honors biology, honors chemistry, and honors anatomy already at high school. I'm also going to look at some of the courses needed to be taken so I can get those out of the way.
@bethwilli16@bethwilli16 You only would have to take some credit/hours in state law,it is not that difficult .I'm a technician and i know many people who have licences from more than two states.
Hey how's it going man, these videos are super helpful. Anyways I'm in a very tough situation, because i'm currently majoring in psych and wanna get my PsyD but debating if I should do pharmacy because the starting salary is way better. As far as USC in california goes, do you know anything about if they want University level courses or community college level courses? Also, in regards to pharmacy school, how hard do you think it is vs grad school if you had to think about it? Thanks for ur time
I'm great at math, but when it comes to science biology is easy and chemistry is decently easy but anatomy sucks. I would like to become a pharmacist but I'm not sure I'll be able to get through with it. What types of classes did you take your first year?
Do grad school grades matter? I heard from some sources that you just need to pass all your classes, and then you'll be guranteed a job. Does your grad school gpa even make an significant impact on your chances of employment?
@angelifyification I graduated pharmacy school in '98, and there hasn't been an employer yet who's looked at my grades. We had a PhD chemist in my class, and my lab partner was about 36 years old and was a former school teacher. I think it's harder to get in than to stay in--if you can get accepted, then you'll probably be able to handle the massive amount of info they throw at you. Good luck, it's an excellent career!
I'm very interested in becoming a pharmacist, but I'm worried cause my math skills aren't that big, but I'm very good at science. Does it requieres alot of math? Like alot alot? I'll still be up to the challenge, a hell of a challenge hahaha
How well did you do in math in hs ? I'm just a little worried how hard the classes will be since math wasn't my best subject but I did do average like b & cs ..... I did do extremely well in my science courses though .. I just don't want to be overwhelmed with how hard the courses may be
@JxStars i was terrible in math and did 3.8 in pharmacy....a couple of classes used some calculus intro derivatons but we never needed to know them, thank goodness
i want to pursue a career in pharmacy specializing in compounding. What areas of study should i concentrate on in obtaining my bachelors degree so that it complies with the requirements of becoming a compound pharmacist when i go to pharmD? Also how many yrs of college did you do before you started working as a real pharmacist and not just a intern?
Okat I am an undergrad in bio sci right now.. applying to pharm in 2 yrs. how on earth do i get experience working in a pharm before getting into pharm school? :/
I got accepted with a 3.6 overall but my school looks at science and math, which I got a 3.8 and 3.7. Plus I worked 30 hours a week. I think most people can do it, just dont plan on being drunk 24/7...
I think first semester is the hardest, because you're trying to adapt to the new changes, ex. work load, new school, etc. A lot of my upperclassmen told me that if you can survive the first professional year of pharmacy, then you will be fine. The material is definitely harder as you move up, but you'll be used to the workload by the time you finish your P1 year (some people call it P3 in other schools). Hope it helps!
@blzangel P.S. It's also great if you have some pharmacy experience, this way the meds, counseling, labeling etc won't be 100% new to you when you learn it.
Also..what I said about the P1 year is only an opinion. I have also heard that P2 was the hardest year from other school. But I think if you know how to manage your time and stay organize during your first year, you'll be okay. I don't want to scare anymore :/

@2coldforU88 the wages for a pharmacist is like 40 to 50 buck a hour. if it was as easy as high school. everybody would be doing it.
