@SuperSaiyan4Broly The M16 is hevier longer and more cumbersome when it comes to fighting indoors it also fires in 3 round bursts it is good at meduim to long range and is more accurate due to it's length...The M4 is lighter smaller and used for indoor fighting it overheats faster due to it's shorter barrel and it's also less accurate.. Both weapons have a 80 or 90% parts interchangeability they both fire in 3 round bursts NOT full auto although the M16A3 and M4A1 Have that ability
I don't understand, though. Besides its physical appearance, what's the significant difference between the M4 and M16? Can one fire faster than the other, or have different mechanics in the gun, or perhaps a difference in weight?
Also the M4 is better suited for urban combat because of it's shorter barrel and collapsable buttstock compared to the M16s longer barrel which makes it harder to use for room clearing unlike the M4 since it's smaller...the M16 is still used by artillery crews And other non front lines units
Alot of Army vets Ive talked to said they preferred the M16 they just wish it wasn't as long and had Full Auto....I think the Canadians put collapsible buttstocks on there C7's and I believe there full auto as well.
I say m16.. It has a longer range and a little more accurate especially when your out in the fields of afghan you need a long range weapon I guarantee you. They should change the butt stock though, make it adjustable.
The M16 has a little less recoil because of the gas bleed off in the longer gas system. I still prefer the M4 because of the adjustable stock, shorter barrel, and qual rails for attachments. I'm impressed at these soldiers shooting stance especially with that M4, they don't blade their shoulder stance they stay isosceles and their rifle stock bore line hardly comes out of their shoulder unlike conventional trained soldiers. They should definitely mount that pistol in the waist or thigh!
I say, M16, my brother and I always debate about which guns were better (m4 vs m16) though we never fired any. Now that he's a Marine, he's telling me he's loving that M16A3. I still haven't fired a gun in my life...yet :)
@MsRifle The M-16A3 was only used in the Navy for a short time, the Marine Corps only uses the M16A4 for combat missions, and the A2 for guard I believe.
The A3 rarely saw any action and had a short service life because it's a full auto rifle, and we don't use full auto assault rifles in the military anymore.
how much weight is he carrying on him, I mean helmet, goggles, vest, guns, ammo, etc, I am sure these guys must be in real good shape all the time because you never know when duty is going to call you and it doesn´t matter if you are tired or got the flu, life will depend on how much can you stand in combat; regardless the army they don´t need to be Steve Rogers to be supersoldiers... they already are
@yosoylavergavoladora im not a gun expert so don't hold me to this but i THINK they both have springs in the stocks to absorb some of the recoil. To any experts out there please forgive me if I'm wrong , I'm not an expert but i would like to be one. so plz share your wisdom with me.
@Mikuruification No, I say that because the M16 is longer, and has a fixed stock, whereas the M4 is shorter and has a telescopic stock. Fuck Call of Duty.
@Mikuruification Idk what you're talking about, I do like playing Call of Duty, but getting gun facts from it is retarded, and I never do that, I research.
@woo302 when the weapon is empty, the bolt will lock to the rear. when the operator changes mags, he slams the bolt release which sends the bolt flying home, therefore chambering the round from the fresh magazine. so the shooter does not need to use the charging handle
Why didnt he just hold the M16 under at the foregrip where his hands are sopposed to be instead of by the magazine and magazine port,The army is alittle to attachced to those vectical fore grips i guess.
@ridder6689 if you've ever held a rifle like that you know it feels much more natural to hold it at a vertical angle. you get much better control while shooting it
The m4 is definitely better for urban warfare because of its short length, however the m16 with a longer barrel is more accurate when shooting longer distances.
@jesus69her and M16 has better twist rate and makes round fragment when it hits a target. I hear the short m4 barrel does not make the round fragment nor tumble but idk how true that is or how accurate the information was.
@Dwyante1 Actually the M16A4 IS the main rifle for the US Marine Corps. The M4 (NOT the M4A1) is the main rifle for the US Army. The M4A1 is usually a specialty weapon as it is capable of fully automatic fire, and is issued to Special Forces from all the branches. The M16A2 is still issued, but usually in roles in which direct combat is not usual, such as artillery, supply clerks, air crew, etc. And they both fire the 5.56x45mm round in the military. I don't know where you heard differently.
@910burns any marine knows the m16 is a piece of shit. and what the fuck does a marine shooting at me have to do about the weapon system? as a matter of fact, ill take my chances standing downrage with some of the marines attempting to shoot an m16.
@raptorarchangel Right. Because we all know the Marines are a bunch of hack jobs. You are just a troll. What do you know about weapons or the military?
@KJT922010T okay here is the deal, neither one is inherently better then the other. They are practically the same rifle. Only difference is barrel length and stock, thats it.
M4 is better suited for mechanized infantry (small spaces) and house to house fighting (small spaces) whereas the M-16 is better suited for open country (longer barrel = better range).
this is why I think the Army is dumb for going wholesale for the M4, the Marine Corps has a much better system...it uses both.
Yeah right man.....you use the m4 with an grip and Aimpoin sight and then you used the m16 without anything very fair.....(and watch how steady is the m16 without grip)
you like the m4 better? of course... you pimped it out lol. it all depends on what the situation is imo. an m4 is so much better in tighter spaces (obviously). as long as you know what you like and trust, thats all that matters. everyone has their opinions.
