@sk8rsroc thanks you for the kind words! I guess I should have been more clear for Zach about the title in that it was a new 7 string aquisition not an example of string sweeps. For the style that I was doing here the scales of choicefor me are the bacis major modes, dorian, phrygian, etc. as well as the Harmonic Minor modes. I like to break up scale ideas intervallicly when I can! Thank you again! Talk soon!

Thanks! The best advice I can give is to practise certain sweeping ideas to a click or a drum machine and be aware of the timing and note groupings. 8ths, 16th,s triplets, septuplets etc. I work on keeping everything in time at certain tempos and the speed those tempos as I go. Start with a certain meter, then work on 4 notes to the beat and keep it in time and clean, then gradually speed the tempo untill you are comfortable at really fast tempos I hope this helps!!

i do agree with your insight that this video was posted to just show some technique, but i do think it is cool to see all these players have a medium to show thier stuff and work some stuff out. i do need to post a video with a backing track to have some kind of context, in a more musical way!!

I don't think you NEED to post a video with a backing track. I think all these displays of what some call "showing-off" are still great for it also inspires many of us to improve upon ourselves. Whether it is technique or soulful playing, it is all welcomed. There is always something good to be learned. The same is said about people who only post band covers. Then people's comments are "Oh..but can you write like them?" The issues never end. You can't make 100% of the people happy all the time.

Yes, it is basically the same appraoch, economy picking through out, sweeping through scales and arpeggios. It has a cleaner sound and the speed factor is pretty cool as well!!
